This is a wonderful service. As a librarian in Mount Kisco I became aware of people who needed shelter for the winter months. There were no local services for people who had no winter employment and had lost their home accommodations for a number of reasons, until local churches, synagogues and other organizations as well as individual volunteers took on the task. I am happy to make my small contribution, and am grateful to those who do that work.

Causes: Homeless & Housing, Temporary Housing
Mission: To provide temporary shelter for homeless individuals during the winter months.
Programs: The emergency shelter partnership (esp) is an interfaith coalition of community and religious organizations who, during the winter months of november to march, open their doors to provide shelter to homeless individuals each night during the program season. Each of the participating organizations takes a turn for a week to provide dinner, breakfast and sleeping facilities. An esp employee transports and supervises homeless individuals at the facility. Food is provided by the host organization.
