Mission: Elkhorn valley community development corporation dba neighborworks northeast nebraska (nwnen) is a community housing development corporation (chdo). Their mission is to develop housing opportunities, empower individuals and families and revitalize and strengthen communities.
Programs: Purchase/rehab/resell program - in 2017, 33 units were developed (plus 1 dpa-only project for a total of 34 units) and $669,500 of down payment closing cost assistance loans were made to low-to-moderate income persons/families under this program.
new construction program - new construction program - in 2017, 5 units were constructed with 3 units receiving $120,000 of down payment closing cost assistance to a low-to-moderate income persons/families under this program.
homebuyer education program - in 2017, 93 households were educated through this program. Education workshops are 8 hours in length. The curriculum for the attendees includes the following topics: understanding credit, budgeting/money management, pre-qualifying vs pre-approval, upfront cost/moving-insurance-closing, pros and cons of homeownership, choosing the right home, maintenance and equipment needed, insurance/taxes/valuations, and being a good neighbor. There were also 27 persons educated through the ehome america online option.
money management program (fka financial pathways). In 2017, 16 persons were educated through this program. The curriculum was changed from a 12-hour course (6 weeks at 2hrs/week) to three 45 minute classes of financial coaching concentrating on budgeting, debt, and credit.
