For over 50 seasons now The El Paso Playhouse faithfully offers witty comedies, passionate dramas, gut wrenching, and moving performances by uniting volunteer community members from ages 8-80 to serve as Actors, Singers, Dancers, Choreographers, Musicians, Costume Designers, Seamstress', Prop Artists, Make-up Artist, Comedians, Set builders, Theatre Technicians, Custodians, Opening Night cooks, Servers, Concession stand attendees, stage hand assistants, Directors, Producers, & Secretaries. As a single mother of two high functioning Autistic children, my family and I may have started out as community patrons but we willingly and eagerly have chosen to stay on in Gratitude for this Nonprofit Organization because they found a place for each of us to serve together alongside with them.
A great place to experience the theater, lol; for El Paso by El Paso, where the community comes together to entertain and teach our city
I first came to the El Paso Playhouse in 2003 to watch a show. Six months later, in the summer of 2004 I was in my first production there. Since then, I have been in over 25 productions as director, actor, producer, technician, etc... I became a Board Member in 2006 and have been Vice-President for three years. This theatre is a not-for-profit organization that has been serving El Paso for over 45 years. From day one, I have seen the dedication and passion that its volunteers have, always leaving room for improvement. Always trying to surpass expectations and provide the best quality shows ranging from dramas to comedies, murder mysteries, musicals and children's shows. Its volunteers are the life and blood of the theatre and it is thanks to them and the dedicated and loyal patrons that the EPPH is still standing. The doors are always open to the public, welcoming people who are interested in volunteering. May it be for set construction, concessions, backstage assistants or acting. No one is turned away. For the past six years, the El Paso Playhouse has been my home. And its Board Members, volunteers and employee are my family. It has been cheer bliss to have the opportunity to learn and grow in this artistic and inspirational atmosphere. I believe this theatre is an El Paso treasure that will stand the test of time.
