EKAL is a lively integration of enthusiastic volunteers all around the world, who strive for the betterment of the rural side of India.
Ekal Vidyalaya has brought change to thousands of families across India. By bringing education to those who cannot afford we are giving kids a chance to shine, a chance they deserve. The cool thing about Ekal is that they have fun ways to raise the money they use to educate children. They set up events that will benefit kids and adults and push them to learn. Ekal hosts events such as Math Bees, Robotics Camp, Appathons and much more. It's been a pleasure knowing that organizations like Ekal have been changing the world for the better by bringing children education and its been even better knowing that I am helping bring that change.
Ekal Vidyalaya has been a grassroot movement bringing basic literacy and holistic development to remote and rural parts of India. Working effectively over past 25 years with a lost cost and repeatable model, it is bringing a steady change, giving hope to millions, changing the face of rural India! It is currently running over 70,000 single teacher schools across India. With its unique 'computer mobile van' it is bringing digital education as well. Other noteworthy programs include tailoring centers giving financial independence to women, and other unique projects.
This is one of the best Non - Profits that is making a real difference. It is a 25 year old organization bring education to very rural remote villages. Over 10 million children are educated in 53,000 villages. A very volunteer driven organization, it provides services to areas where no one goes. My experience with the organization has been spectacular.
My personal experience with Ekal has been nothing short of extreme joy. Nothing embodies the dharmic saying "Vidyadanam Mahaatpunyam" better than their concept of single teacher schools in the remotest parts of Bharat (India). Specifically, their zero overhead handling of any contributions and the extreme commitment of teachers (who are locals in the communities they teach) are the simplest examples of 'education going to the student when the student is unable to reach the education setup'.
