Mission: The Edwards have been rescuing and rehoming animals for more than 30 years. Their lifelong love for animals, more than 50 years of teaching experience in the public schools, foster parents to more than 30 high risk juveniles, and work with special needs individuals had resulted in a strong presence in the community to educate people about animal care.
Results: Edwards Animal Rescue has taken in many and varied animals and most have been adopted out into loving homes. Others who have extensive medical and care needs will remain here in sanctuary for the rest of their lives. Some of the animals in our care have been Zebu from the Denver zoo, plus hedgehogs, horses, llamas, goats, alpacas, sugar gliders, cats and lizards.
Target demographics: Our animals come to us from referrals throughout the greater counties of Denver, Douglas, Elbert and Arapahoe counties.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Varies by year. This year we've taken in numerous rescues and placed 7 goats, two alpacas, 6 llamas, 1 cat, several waterfowl.
Geographic areas served: Front Range of Colorado
Programs: We rescue and educate. It is our goal to make sure each adoption is a perfect fit. We also educate the public on humane treatment of domesticated animals.
This place was so amazing! my friend and i came here for a school project awhile back and we kept coming! they are so nice there and the animals are really cute and we get to work with them. In the mornings they walk all the animals down the street. I really recommend this place to everyone!
My brother and I started volunteering here and it is amazing. The owners are amazing and kind. I have had a great time here. The animals are so kind and fun! I love working here with them! I get to interact with llamas and goats! Overall, this is a fun and happy place to volunteer at!
I have known the Edwards and their rescue for 10 years now. They are both retired teachers that want to make a difference in the world, and they are certainly making a difference for the better for not only the animals they rescue: They also educate people to care for animals properly, work with and train volunteers who are disabled in various ways, children, scout groups, students, etc. They are incredibly caring and selfless and give so much to the animals and community. Lynda has lifelong experience with animals and so the rescues are extremely well cared-for, with medical attention if necessary from the best local vets. Visiting the property is amazing, as all of the animals live together in harmony. I support Edwards Animals in any way possible!
