I have shared with my faculty several of the the strategies and practices outlined in the videos and PDF outlines provided on Best Practices Weekly. The feedback regarding the videos and supporting documentation are positive and they are typically characterized as practitioner-friendly. This service provides a way for educators to access research-proven strategies without spending lots of time sifting through research journals and reading vast amounts of articles. This is an important service given that time is a precious commodity within the education sector.
Best Practices Weekly allows for a busy educator like myself an opportunity to hear the latest research in an easy accessible format. The presenters share the salient points of the most current research and accompany the information with resources for reflection in incorporating new found learning into my classroom and school. The latest A New Key to Reading Comprehension-Helping Struggling Readers Comprehend opened up some questions and new ponderings to think about when working with older elementary students when incorporating word study rather it be Ganskes Word Journeys or Caesars English and how this work with influence their reading comprehension of gradually higher level texts.
Thanks for knowing that time is one of the most precious gifts educators are always short on!
