Love this place! 7802 Bay Parkway! Still remember main phone number: 718 331-6800. Maryana, Yefim, Alex, Yasha, Craig, Mike...Did not expect a phone call after so many years...Alumni Reunion!!! Great Idea!!!This has been the coolest and most informative experience for me!!!! I got an invitation from Alex Budnitskiy - a guy who was my teen director in 1994 at the J. All the memories came back - endless discussion groups about everything important to a teenager. At some point, Alex was the ONLY adult I can talk to and who can LISTEN. To this day I am thankful on how much he impacted my first few years in United States. We volunteered together - delivering packages to seniors and building a playground. He got me my first job in camp - best one ever! I now work in DC, but now that I saw this, will definitely come to New York just to say hello to Alex and see my friends at the J. I can't believe that 15 years later all of them still there, doing what they do! It was and it is a second home for me!
Review from Guidestar
I'm an Alumn of the "J" but have been involved in programs since I was 12. I've played basketball here for many years, participated in discussion groups, volunteered, and had my first Jewish experience here. To be honest, I don't know where I'd be if the "J" wasnt a part of my life. This center took me and my family in when we immigrated from the FSU. I'm greatful for what this center stands for and it is the reason that I am still involved.
my daughter has been in several programs that the "J" offers and had nothing short of an amazing experience. The staff really cared about her needs, worked with me on getting a scholarship for her to attend the summer camp and made sure that she felt comfortable among other kids(she has special needs). I am so glad she was a part of the center and recommend it highly to other parents.
