Mission: Eastern european study abroad is a study abroad organization whose purpose is to organize a study abroad program in kharkov, ukraine for a semester or academic year for undergraduate level college students from the usa. We have a partnership with karazin kharkov national university. Students study russian and ukrainian languages, take classes in english and travel to nine different cities on academic field trips as part of the eesa program. We provide students with a wide array of support, including pre-departure, onsite and re-entry.
Programs: During 2013, five students studied abroad with eesa, two of whom spend a full year on the program. Students received with a wide array of support, including pre-departure, onsite and re-entry. For pre-departure, we provide students with information that will prepare them for spending a semester or academic year in ukraine. We make sure students have submitted all the appropriate documents for obtaining a ukrainian visa as well as for registration in ukraine. On site directors register all students with local authorities, organize orientation, housing, academic field trips, local excursions, and are there to provide students with 24/7 support. Upon their return home we maintain contact with the students to make sure their health and overall wellbeing are sound as they adjust to living at home again.
total expenses for academic field trips. During spring semester 2013, students traveled to kiev, lviv, moscow and st. Petersburg on academic field trips as part of the eesa program; and additionally to vienna, prague, budapest and krakow in the fall semester 2013. During these trips, students meet internationally recognized economic and political experts, government officials, leaders of ngos and business owners. Students learn their perspective on current events and see practical implications of information discussed in classroom.
