Mission: The mission of the east tennessee technology access center is to enable people with disabilities in east tennessee to reach their potential for functioning in the mainstream of society through innovative uses of technology.
Programs: Vocational rehabilitation technology program services were provided to 46 clients with disabilities during this fiscal year, including evaluation of need for adaptive technology, training on equipment, technical support and equipment repair, loan of equipment, worksite and classroom accommodations, and literacy training and support. Trainings, workshops, and product demonstrations were also provided to vr counselors and supervisors during the year, including opportunities to learn about new adaptive devices for people with disabilities.
tennessee technology access program ttap is a statewide program designed to increase access to, acquisition of, assisstive technology devices services. Through its four core programs funding assistance, device demonstration, device loan, device reutililization, ttap a network of five assisstive technology centers help people with disabilities their families find get the tools that they need to live independent, productive lives where how they choose.
community outreach program focuses on increasing awareness of assistive technology devices in various communities and groups in east tennessee. Services included presentations to and participation in support group meetings, career fairs, parent fairs, senior expos and events at ettac and throughout east tennessee, increased use of social media and ettacs website and facebook to reach people, an e-newsletter, and information sent via radio, tv and area newspapers, and information on ettacs website. In this fiscal year, an estimated 1. 5 million people were reached through public awareness activities.
