Programs: Arts & culture: worked with volunteer artists to continue the development of "earthville arts," an "altruistic arts" program promoting linking music, film, and other arts with charitable activities that work toward a better world. Launched two new music cds with proceeds supporting charitable programs. Supported development of "naked mind" documentary film project. Continued collaboration with dharmalaya institute to document traditional wisdom and sustainable development initiatives in the indian himalayas, including preliminary work to publish an ebook on sustainable building techniques.
education, environment, and social welfare: in partnership with local charities, continued development of the dharmalaya institute, a new international eco-campus for service-learning, cultural exchange, and volunteer service programs in india for students and participants from the us and worldwide while providing training in green job skills for rural laborers, including village women living below the poverty line. Successfully conducted fourth annual residential service-learning program in "sustainable and compassionate living," hosting 25 participants from 10 countries for 14 days, plus four other educational and training programs. Continued to develop formal, academic internship program in vernacular eco-architecture for architecture students worldwide. Continued team-building and commenced research and planning for future programs.
education and health: in 2014, the open dharma project offered relaxation, meditation, and stress-management training through 3 events (residential and nonresidential silent retreats, meditation evenings, and other events). 36 people attended the 3 events. With the help of over 35 volunteers, open dharma continues to make its programs warmly welcoming and financially accessible through low costs and scholarships. Interviews, radio talks, website, downloadable talks, social media, and newsletters are all offered freely. All us-based activities in 2014 were conducted on an all-volunteer, no-cost basis.
peace and conflict resolution: continued support and capacity-building activity for sulha peace project, with focus on the sulhita youth programs, bringing together hundreds of youth, including arabs, jews, israelis, palestinians, secular and religious, shared experiences of deep listening, music, and cultural programming. Planning and preparation for the next international sulha peace conference, projected for 2015. Also conducted awareness activities in the usa for the peace programs.
