I remember my children asking as we drove through downtown Atlanta, where do the homeless go - when it cold, raining and stormy, where to they eat and where do they sleep? They seemed concerned to a group of people they never knew. Through Eagles Nest and the work of Pasters Larry, Harold and Genece they now can add names to the faces they saw under bridges and on park benches. Eagles Nest Ministries offers a safe haven for Atlanta's homeless and working poor. It's a place that not only provides food, clothes and shelter but provides spiritual nurishment too. Eagles Nest provides an opportunity to share the teachings of Jesus with God's children in an effort of making him known the world.
Wow! Eagle's Nest is an amazing place where people are fed and ministered to each week. It is always an amazing experience to serve at Eagle's Nest and see the love of God being shared. I always have a great time connecting with people while there. We always conclude by spending some time praying with the poor and homeless. Larry, Genece, and Harold are wonderful people with deep hearts of compassion. Eagle's Nest continues to go above and beyond meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the community.
Eagle's Nest Ministry, through the efforts of Larry and Genece Arnold and Harold Smith, has a huge impact in fulfilling Jesus' command to feed, cloth and lead the hungry and the lost. Eagle's Nest provides food to hundreds in innercity Atlanta each week, while also teaching and reaching those people for Christ. The ministry is so effective at managing their resources that costs for a hot meal are less than $0.30. The most meaningful time I spend at Eagle's Nest is talking with the homeless and working poor in the area, hearing their needs and concerns, being able to pray with them, and either encouraging them in their faith or pointing them to a saving faith. Knowing that Eagle's Nest is there to follow up on those needs means I know the impact can be lasting. And hearing the stories of those Eagle's Nest has rescued off the streets is the greatest of encouragements. I praise Larry and Harold for their 25 years of street ministry!
