This research is incredibly important for people with the crippling hand condition Dupuytren’s Disease. Currently there us no cure for this disease, which leaves patients’ fingers locked into contracted positions and unable to perform everyday activities involving their hands. The Dupuytren Research Group is doing significant work setting the scene for finding evidence based treatments. It also is contributing to patient advocacy and support until a viable treatment is found.
The British Dupuytren's Society has worked with the Dupuytren Research Group since 2011, we share literature and help each other with queries. The Dupuytren Research Group has been very good to work with, and I hope we will continue working together toward a cure for Dupuytren's as long as necessary!
The Dupuytren Research Group's mission is to find a cure for Dupuytren Disease as rapidly and efficiently as possible. They are the only organization on the planet focused entirely on a Dupuytren cure. I was diagnosed with Dupuytrens in September 2018 and if not for the wealth of information I received from this wonderful organization, I would still be in pain and in a "wait and see" mode, as that is what two physicians had told me, in other words, DO NOTHING until something major happens to your fingers. I took matters in my own hand ( pun IS intended,) did my own research, found doctors knowledegable with this disease and the treatment for it, all thanks to the Dupuytren Research Group. I just did a fundraiser for them in the month of May - to Donate your Birthday - and I raised $ 585 AND raised awareness of this little known, yet common crippling hand disease.
The Dupuytren Research Group has been a wonderful source of information and hope as I deal with Dupuytrens. Although there is no cure yet, the DRG is working towards a blood test that will help in the pursuit of finding a cure. The information on their site about all the current treatment options has been helpful. Specifically, the info on possible supplements that might help like magnesium and curcumin.
This is a disease more prevalent than most people know. We need all the help that can be had to find a cure or at least more improved treatments. This a needed group that deserves support
