Mission: Duke City Repertory Theatre operates with five major goals in mind: - To provide an opportunity for theatre artists, from both New Mexico and beyond, to earn their living in the arts. - To create and sustain a Teaching Company, where artists explore the art of theatre through investigation, experimentation, discovery and bravery. This dedication to growth and courage allows for the creation of theatre that is not merely entertaining but engaging, compelling and transcendent. - To provide our audiences with the professional theatre they deserve - theatre that opens their world view, that lifts their spirits and encourages discussion and debate, that inspires bravery and curiosity in their own lives. We want to create theatre that settles in to the spirits, hearts and minds of our audiences, leaving them forever changed. - To empower and encourage New Mexico’s youth through the art of theatre. Through our Classrooms Alive! and Imagine Action Conservatory programs we aim to not only bring professional theatre to students across the state but also to teach self-confidence, bravery, creativity, compassion, empathy, curiosity, and team-work by using the tools of live theatre. - To share the spirit and beauty of Albuquerque by actively taking part in the economical and cultural growth of this great city, state, and region.
Results: DCRT has been voted Best Theatre in the City by the readers of Albuquerque The Magazine every year since we have been in existence. We have served thousands of audiences members in Albuquerque and across New Mexico with hundreds of performances. Our artists are molding young minds across the city through work with various after school programs. The inaugural year of our summer education program, Imagine Action Conservatory, was voted in the Top 5 for Best Summer Camps in Albuquerque the Magazine. We have also given countless jobs to New Mexico artists as well invited out of town artists to create professional theatre in Albuquerque, many of whom have relocated to Albuquerque to dedicate their lives to serving New Mexican audiences.
