Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Environment, Forest Conservation, Land Resources Conservation, Water, Water Resources, Wetlands Conservation & Management

Mission: Maintain and enhance the health, diversity, and beauty of southwest wisconsin's natural and agricultural landscape through permanent land protection and restoration, and improve people's lives by connecting them to the land and to each other.

Programs: Since 2000 driftless area land conservancy has protected over 7,200 acres of farms, forests, prairies, and wetlands. During 2017 the conservancy developed new signage, maintained trails, and worked on oak savanna restoration for our 220-acre erickson conservation area. We also added a 12-acre fee property to our protection portfolio, assumed management of 266 acres of land owned by iowa county, and delivered over $90,000 in pollinator seeds to establish habitat for monarch butterflies. We delivered a series of field trips, special events, and educational programs that engaged nearly 2,000 citizens and school children. We continued to coordinate community efforts in opposition to a massive and unneeded transmission line project through our service area.
