Dress For Success is certainly an organization that sets women up for success in their career and personal life. The volunteers that I met there really make a difference in women's lives, and I am convinced it all comes from the leadership of the organization. When I witnessed a career coaching session for the first time with the executive director of the organization, Amara Martin, it was very clear to me that a practical advice goes hand in hand with compassion, belief, and encouragement. I saw a real transformation in a woman after just one career coaching session; that woman left not only being more equipped to face new career opportunities, but she also felt empowered and encouraged, which could have been what she really needed most. Dress for Success is a very special and warm place for anybody who walks through the door, either a client, a sponsor, or a volunteer.
As a volunteer for several years at Dress for Success Denver, I never leave that office or any of their fundraising events without being amazed at the work done by the staff and volunteers. There is so much caring for the clients, who have such a wide variety of life situations that they are dealing with. It's clear to see why these women walk away feeling confident about their next journey. Amara Martin's leadership is incredible!
Being a part of Dress for Success Denver is transforming. Its transforming the lives of the clients that walk through our doors, its transforming for the volunteers who get the opportunity to provide interview skills, and its transforming for the staff & board of directors who work & fundraiser to support an organization that has an amazing success rate. Being a part of a great organization in a great city, surrounded by great women, is so rewarding. My mission is spreading that opportunity to my network of strong women for even more support.
Dress for Success Denver is a not for profit organization that may be best known for providing suits to women … this organization goes way beyond the suit. The mission of Dress for Success is to promote economic independence in women by providing professional attire, career/life development tools as well as a support network. Dress for Success Denver partners with other not for profit and government agencies like job training programs, shelters, educational institutions, etc. A client referred by an agency will have an initial visit in the Dress for Success Boutique. At the Dress for Success Boutique, our clients are seen by both a Personal Shopper and a Career Counselor. Our clients are suited with professional clothing to wear on their first interview with the help of a personal shopper as well spending time with a Career Counselor to review resumes and discuss interview/job searching strategies. Once the client gets the job, Dress for Success will provide a week’s worth of professional clothing. In addition after obtaining employment, there is the Professional Women’s Group which meets monthly.
I have been involved with Dress for Success Denver as a volunteer for over 3 years. I know my time is well spent, plus truely enjoyable. Dress for Success Denver is an organization that helps women obtain employment by improving self-confidence. DFSD not only provides clothing for interviews, but provides career services for interviewing and resume writing. When a women obtains employment she can come back for a full weeks worth of clothing. She also has an opportunity to receive further developmental counsel on topics such as financial literacy. Dress for Success is a global organization. We collect gently warm clothing and monetary donations to support our mission. We also purchase clothing for our plus size clients. We work with women who come to us through various agencies in town, many of which have gone through various hard times and may be single moms. We give women a hand up, not a hand out.
DFS is a true benefit to women of Colorado. It is an organization that not only sets women up for success with a job interview, it provides tools for them to gain their confidence
Dress for Success Denver... has changed my entire life and given me hope for my future.
I was released from federal prison in 2013 with very little. DFS not only assisted me with interview clothes, but also provided valuable guidance and career coaching that has shaped my goals.
The volunteers have supplied encouragement and I have developed wonderful relationships from the Professional Woman's Group that meets every month.
What sets DFS apart is that they care and are committed to empowering women like me so that I can truly compete in the workforce.

I started there back in 2008 as a client of DFS. I went on to join the Professional Women's Group and represent Denver at the Annual Dress for Success Summit in San Francisco. I have volunteered, as has my daughter, and I now sit on the Board of Directors to do what I can to continue to make Dress for Success what it is...an amazing resource for women! Dress for Success has been and continues to be an incredible force in my life!
Dress for Success is staffed with intelligent and informative volunteers and employees. They really care about your future as a successful individual on your way to self sufficiency. The guidance they provide helps numbers of women become more polished in their overall presentation on a regular basis. These women help others as part of their daily function main focus. They have a Career Center and Mobile Job Readiness Program that tailors to help you into your best suited career. As Alumni of their Professional Women's Group, a division of Dress for Success; I am now more educated, involved, much more professional as I present myself in the day to day operations of business successes.
