Thank you Dress For Success Austin for assisting in providing a future for my family. Dress For Success Austin came in my life when I needed support the most. After being homeless and having little direction I was introduced to Dress For Success Austin. My first experience was getting fitted with clothes to wear to my new job. I did not grow up with a positive self-image, and the dressing room was not a friendly place for me. The volunteers were so friendly and genuine with kind words and big smiles. I cried in the dressing room and was told it was o.k. There was no judgment, just love. Remaining a member of an influential organization has helped boost my self-esteem, to become a writer and start a business. Our monthly meetings provide additional information community regarding resources and information on building your brand. Educationally I have benefited by writing essays for scholarships while attending college. Without the support of key individuals such as the Executive Director and Program Manager, it would have been harder for me to gain the confidence to succeed. Thank you Dress For Success Austin for assisting in providing a positive future for my family. Latretia
Years and years as a Realtor and in real estate management left me will LOTS of work clothes when I was fortunate to retire early. I walked in to Dress For Success and found a new home for clothes I was lucky enough to share with other women. Not only that, but MORE importantly I found an organization that cares deeply about empowering women to be successful in both their work lives AND personal lives. That was years ago....
My particular love is helping our clients develop great resumes, learn how to interview and get ready to conquer all the great things life can bring them. Learn about us.... share your skills and talents.... and SEE the results as it changes women's lives. #DFSAustin
Every week I meet amazing women who have overcome incrediblly challenging obstacles to cross the threshold of our offices. I am humbled at their resilience. I am honored to volunteer as a career advisor and image consultant to them as they open the door to their futures. I believe I am meant to be there. Dress for Success is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
My name is Melissa Bozant I’m a professional in the beauty industry, I moved from Los Angeles to Austin almost a year ago. They have assisted me in several ways from building my resume to helping me get a computer. I’ve partnered with mentors that have helped me excell in my business and career goals. Austin Dress for Success has an amazing team of ladies that are always willing to help.
I have been volunteering as an Image Consultant for almost 3 years now. It has been hugely rewarding and I have met really wonderful women who all really care about helping other women succeed and get on their feet. We go through tons of donations every Monday, tag the ones we can use, and put right on the boutique racks. Then we have consulting appointments with clients, helping them to find the best Interview suiting and supplemental employment clothes. The clients are always so touched and excited about their job prospects, and that this is a FREE service to them! I'm so thrilled to have been a part of this organization!
The volunteer process at Dress for Success Austin is a highly fulfilling, smooth experience. I'm grateful to the team at DFSA who always keep the mission of helping our female clients in mind.
I started volunteering with Dress for Success five months ago and love it. I meet such interesting women with diverse backgrounds. I really love hearing their stories of growth and change and I feel honored and privileged to serve them. It takes courage to change your life and I admire this organization's efforts to empower women to take control of their own futures. I'm grateful to be a part of that process.
Creating a simple resume sounds pretty easy huh? Not always so for the women we serve at DFSA. I sat as a volunteer in the career center waiting for a client to get there. We talked and fact-gathered and started putting her resume outline together. The words were flowing, she was bright and attentive and we saved our work so far on a flash drive. Can you work on this at home and come back? Home was her car I learned.....
Many women are just one step away from disaster striking their lives. This lady experienced that step. SHE is of those we are here for. SHE is why we care. SHE will get a job and pick herself up. SHE will leave confident despite the circumstances. WE help make it happen....
DFS has been such a blessing to me! They helped me with a scholarship to go to school AND financial literacy classes that helped me become debt free! I love all the ladies and amazing volunteers.

I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of job searching women at Dress for Success Austin a few weeks back on "what to do if you don't get the job". We had great dialogue on how to keep your head high, not take the rejection personally, and use each no as a learning tool to reach the YES!
Afterwards, I received this awesome note from one of the attendees:
"Lauren,
I would like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with us yesterday. It was a pleasure meeting you and listening to your inspiring presentation. It was especially helpful to hear about your personal negative and positive experiences with finding a new job.
With your permission, I would like to add you as a connection on LinkedIn. If you have the time, I am open to any constructive feedback you have about my profile."
