I have donated to Dream Big! for over 7 straight years now as they work to empower girls and young women from low-income situations by providing them with the equipment, uniforms, sports attire, athletic footwear, program fees, training and mentors needed for them to participate in sports and physical activities that contribute to their health, education and overall well-being.

As the founder of Dream Big! and a major donor I have the wonderful opportunity throughout the years of seeing the following ways that my support impacted the lives of thousands of amazing young women: I have handed an athlete a pair of new sneakers and equipment they needed that was going to allow them to join a basketball, soccer, track and softball team; I have met parents in parking lots whose daughters were devastated that they could not afford the shin guards and sweat pants she needed to stay on her school soccer team and gave them the items they needed so they could play and not follow through with their threat to drop out of school; I have provided coaches with the transportation funds needed to take female athletes from underserved communities to a college showcase out of state and imagine how amazing we all felt when those same athletes sent us e-mails and texts letting us know that they had been offered a full scholarship to play basketball at colleges such as South Carolina, Providence, Union, Temple, Harvard etc...

As an athlete most of my life I know the power that sports can have on a girls life, from coaches that serve as mentors, team mates that serve as friends, lesson learned that apply to school and work and increased self esteem from learning to believe in yourself. These things and so much more is why I wanted to share the gift of sports with thousands of other girls and young women. I am proud to say that Dream Big!, founded in 2010 in Boston, has now impacted over 25,000 girls from low-income situations.
