Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Mission: We have a multiple purpose mission here at DBHC; we want to help any horse or child in need by offering them a safe haven to heal and learn to trust again, and we also want to educate children and local families by teaching them to care for themselves, the earth, and others by giving them a strong foundation in faith and organic living.

I've been with Dream Big for about 3 years. I wasn't brought up with much exposure to horses or any barn animals for that matter. That changed rapidly after joining this family of such caring individuals. I come not only because I love and care for the animals but also because it brings me peace and I feel engulfed by the amount of care that everyone has for all the animals. I feel a sense of pride telling my friends and family where I spend so much time and they can see a clear difference in me. I have brought friends to help and see how great the stable is in action. They all ask me when I'm going back so they can join. I also have two friends who have brought their kids here and they love it! I wouldn't feel comfortable calling any other barn as my home besides Dream Big Horse Club.

Dream Big is a great family friendly barn, where I can have fun with horses. At Dream Big, you can ride horses and I feel like you really get to know the horses. Dream Big has other animals too. Some of their more recent additions are: Faith and Grace, who are lambs, Molly, a young cow, and chicks that are growing up quickly. Almost all the horses at Dream Big are rescues. I think it is cool to see how these hores lives have changed. At camp, we have art lessons and orgainic gardening, and sometimes we can play with Molly. I love Dream Big and it feels like my second home.

I keep my horse at Dream Big, and we couldn't be happier. My horse loves it there, and I love to spend as much time as I can there. The whole place has such an alive, happy, and loving feel to it. The kids clearly love and benefit greatly from involvement!

We began attending Dream Big in late 2012. Unexperienced and quite nervous, Laurie brought us into a very welcoming, fun environment and helped our equestrian and agricultural knowledge flourish. With the combination of great horses that will leave a mark on your heart and outstanding role models, Dream Big helped me grow not only as an equestrian but as a young person. Being able to be involved as the program grows and reaches out towards other areas of agricultural knowledge has been a gift I am very thankful for. I would recommend Dream Big to anyone who wants to expand their knowledge or are just wishing to spend time in a supportive, caring environment.

Dream Big is the most wonderful place. Not only do they love and care for so many horses and a few other animals but they also love and care for children of all ages. My daughter is 10 and she is excited to get up every time she goes their. Lori is teaching them aabout caring for horses as well as the importance of eating healthy. They are currently growing and organic veggie garden and it is amazing! The love and time she puts into this rescue is what sets Dream Big from the rest! We love it there and will continue to go for many years to come.

It never ceases to amaze me of the amount of love that comes through this place. Horses come in abused and starved, children come not quite sure if they will fit in, and within a short amount of time they know that this is a place of love and growth. Watching how our horses heal those in need is God's work in action. Seeing children from different backgrounds form a family is the way it was meant to be. I am so excited about our newest journey in organic gardening and farming, and know these programs will help many that suffer from obesity and other health issues. The volunteers here make it work, from the teachers that volunteer their time to teach the children, the clergy man that volunteers to educate the children on faith, to the hard working individuals that keep this place in shape, it truly is a family and a place of unconditional love! !

We started coming to Dream Big about a year and a half ago. My daughter had been dreaming about spending time with horses. Since joining Dream Big she has learned to ride, but more importantly she has learned about properly caring for a horse, as well as other animals. She has seen the love and compassion that Laurie has for the rescues that come in, and what it takes to nurse them back to health. She has made new friends with other kids at the barn. We love it here! I can not say enough great things about Dream Big.

When I first started volunteering at dream big I was headstrong about never riding a horse but within a month I was more than willing. This ranch is more than a you're an average Ranch. This is a family. We all love one another. The owner Mrs. Laurie is a wonderful woman. If your having a personal dilemma you could always go to her with warm arms. I love this ranch.
