Causes: Arts & Culture, Dance
Mission: Dova, inc. Exists to create quality dances in a work environment that fosters artistic collaboration amongst mature dance artists who re-define the creative process and thereby capturing through movement, the nuance and truth of human interaction. The company shares its work and processes through performance, education, and professional training.
Programs: Since 1986, dova has created over 80 dances, taught over 2,500 students, and brought award-winning dances to tens of thousands of fans in over 125 cities around the world. The creation, performance, and touring of new dance works are the primary activities of the company. Our education and outreach activities reach professional and pre-professional dancers and seek to improve dance literacy in the general public. Because of the outstanding quality of our outreach, the company is among the most sought-after ambassadors for dance. Each year we create one new dance work, remount and reherse repertory work, tour to a dozen venues, and often produce a new york city performance.
dova trains over 150 professionals and pre-professional dancers and choreographers every year with the winter intensive, summer workshop, and devices choreographic mentorship programs.
