Door to Grace has a very dedicated and caring staff. As the Lord has provided, members of our fellowship and community have been supporters of the work at Door to Grace over the past year. The Door to Grace staff has been very helpful in supporting our efforts to provide information to our community and church, which in turn has led many to donate to this worthy cause which helps the victimized girls.
Being a teenage girl is hard. Being a teenage girl without a stable home life, perhaps moving from foster family to foster family is even harder. Being a teenage girl without a stable home life and being sexually trafficked is unimaginable. But, this is the world that Door to Grace graciously steps into. Girls are welcomed to the Day Home for one on one mentoring, classes about life skills and survival skills, family dinner one night a week, game night and healthy, fun outings geared for girls in their teen years. Unconditional kindness and respect is what each girl experiences at Door to Grace.
Door to Grace is an organization that helps youth who have been impacted by commercial sexual exploitation. Their powerful group and one-on-one mentoring programs help these young people find a path back to a peaceful, safe and loving life that we all take for granted.
According to the FBI, approximately 300,000 American youth are at risk of becoming victims of commercial sexual exploitation. This organization is working hard to help these youth and to educate the public about child sex trafficking.
Next year, Door to Grace partnering with the State of Oregon to better protect children in the foster care system with a training program for foster parents and those serving youth with the Oregon DHS, child welfare system to better identify current victims and protect those who are potentially vulnerable to sex trafficking.
In 2017, 88% of likely sex trafficking victims were in social services/foster care when they went missing - National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
If you choose only one nonprofit to donate this year, make it Door to Grace. They are working to create a better and loving place for all at risk youth.
I've been able to volunteer my time with staff and clients served at DTG. The time spent in community together has been invaluable. The staff has a genuine connection with the clients and truly seeks to serve to meet the needs of the girls/women served. I've cherished the moments inside the doors at DTG where love and healing happen.
