I started volunteering at Dolly Goodpuppy last year as a dog walker. Walking the dogs became the best part of my week. Getting to know the employees and other volunteers was fun, but the relationships you build with the dogs is life changing.
They have so much love to share with us. I have seen some of the volunteers lie down in the kennels with some of the dogs just to love on them. Oreo will interrupt her walk multiple times for hugs and kisses.
The most fun I have had was fostering two little beauties after they lost their mom. They were scared and didn't understand what was happening to them. With patience and love, they become such wonderful dogs and my granddaughters loved coming over to visit with them. The happiest day is watching them going to their forever homes. We all still miss them and look at their pictures often but know they are home now. Best feeling in the world is helping these sweet babies out.
Dolly Goodpuppy has been actively involved in rescue for over a decade. We adopted two dogs over the years and fostered two others. The adoption process is all about finding the right home for the dogs and not about just getting Junior a puppy for Christmas. This organization also knows Spay and Neuter is the only way to reduce the unwanted pet population. Dolly’s care for the dogs is top quality which helps make them ultimately more adoptable with good nutrition, medical care and some basic leash training.
My mother and I volunteered at Dolly Goodpuppy by petting puppies. We were so impressed by the staff’s love for the dogs and how each dog was called by name and treated as an individual. Dolly Goodpuppy is much, much more than a rescue; it is a haven for dogs.
Our family adopted three rescue dogs from Dolly Goodpuppy. They are our beloved babies now. Occasionally, when I stop by Dolly Goodpuppy, I take them with me and they are delighted to see their former home and old friends. That seems to be the ultimate testimonial - former Dolly Goodpuppy dogs enjoy visiting and love the people who cared for them so tenderly.
I “inherited” 2 puppies 10 years ago. Had no idea what to do. I didn’t want to just give them away in a parking lot. I contacted Dolly Goodpuppy and they agreed to help me rehome the 2 cute puppies. That was my introduction to Dolly. I visited the facility and was so impressed with the cleanliness, care and love each dog received. I have been a volunteer ever since. Staff and facility are top rate!
I started volunteering at The Dolly Goodpuppy Society after the loss of our 13 year old dog. I had been following on FB for a few years. That's how I met & adopted Dixie Girl.
Being a daughter of a bird dog breeder & trainer, I have always been partial to well bred dogs. But I had someone close to me share that rescues had great dogs, too.
What I have found at DGP is not only a quality-managed kennel for rescues but a sanctuary for the dogs & anyone that volunteers. DGP is a Department of Agriculture licensed, non-profit organization, too. All donations go to the care & training of the dogs with the objective of finding a forever home for each one.
Some things I love about DGP
▪︎ Responsible ownership; spay & neuter; & healthy dogs are practiced & strongly promoted.
▪︎ Each dog is well cared for & the staff knows the name of each dog.
▪︎ The buildings are clean & well kept.
▪︎ Training occurs continuously by a trainer.
▪︎ High school students, Gordon students, & Boy Scouts volunteer.
We have adopted 3 dogs from Dollygoodpuppy. They are by far the absolute best rescue in the area. They truly care about each and every dog that comes into their care. The dogs are all handled multiple times a day by different people so the become well socialized. I was so impressed by their work that I became a volunteer. Every penny donated to them goes directly to care for the dogs.
