DKMS is an International nonprofit which adds to the national bone marrow registry to give people with blood cancer and various blood and bone disorders a second chance at life. For many of these people, an unrelated donor is their only chance for survival. DKMS seeks to add all 18-55 years olds in good health at no charge. With current circumstances, people can swab their cheeks from the comfort of their homes. Registration is done on-line at DKMS.org and swab kits are sent with pre-paid return.

Mission: Dkms leads the fight to defeat blood cancer by empowering people to take action, give bone marrow and save lives. Dkms is the largest bone marrow donor center in the world. Dkms' prinicpal activites are to: 1) recruit bone marrow donors to increase the chances for patients to find a life-saving donor match; 2) coordinate the transports of bone marrow or blood stem cell products from german donors to u. S. Patients; and 3) facilitate bone marrow transplants between dkms' donors and blood cancer patients worldwide.
Programs: Transport facilitation: coordinated the transports of 1,202 bone marrow or blood stem cells products from germany to u. S patients. This provided them with a second chance at life. (in 2016 1,360).
donor recruitment: recruited 123,550 (123,695 in 2016) volunteer bone marrow & blood stem cell donors. This increases the chances for patients dealing with various blood cancers to find a life -saving donor match.
request management: facilitated 385 (477 in 2016) collections of bone marrow and blood stem cell products from unrelated volunteer donors, which are transplanted into patients, thus providing a second chance at life for those patients.
