Mission: The mission of the discovery children's museum is to provide a vibrant and engaging environment through exhibits and programs where children from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds actively participate in playful learning experiences that ignite a love of lifelong learning.
Programs: Educational programs: the award-winning educational programming at discovery children's museum include workshops, demonstrations and special events in science, arts, culture and early childhood learning. There's something new to see or do every day and no limits for fun and learning.
youthworks: youthworks serves over 300 youth each year with a goal to keep them in school and graduate. Nevada has the highest dropout rate of any other state in the nation. Youthworks combines mentoring, job skills training, homework support, career and education guidance within an interdisciplinary museum setting to benefit low-income youth.
outreach house calls program: as the museum continues to grow and develop, so has the demand for community outreach. House calls meets that demand with program offerings at each elementary grade level. Southern nevada educators are able to enhance health sciences curriculum without the worries of transportation. Using medical equipment and anatomically correct models, a professional museum educator facilitates all of the classroom experiences.
traveling exhibits and special programming- the museum offers featured exhibitions two to three times a year. These exhibitions range in subject matter and often include cultural topics and other humanities that focus on the education of children. The museum also offers a variety of special programming such as dia de los muertos, native american history month, a thai festival, and more.
