Mission: Disability rights international (dri) is dedicated to promoting human rights and full participation in society of people with disabilities worldwide.
Programs: Americas: dri's americas programs bring attention to human rights violations against people with disabilities in the americas, support the development of disability rights advocacy in the region, and engage in policy advocacy on a regional level that includes the rights of people with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities. Through the americas programs, dri collaborates with local organizations to:- expose abuses against people with disabilities; - make recommendations for mental health reform; - educate policy maker; - help train and support new organizations run by people with disabilities and their families; - work with established, mainstream human rights organizations to promote the inclusion of disability rights into their core advocacy agendas; - work through the inter-american human rights system of the organization of american states to bring about legal recognition and enforcement of the rights of people with disabilities. policy advocacy: dri is committed to strengthening the worldwide movement of activists seeking support for the united nations convention on the rights of persons with disabilities (crpd) in their own countries. Dri continues to bring momentum to the crpd, document abuses in countries throughout the world, file cases with human rights oversight bodies, and pressure countries for reform through political and economic leverage.
africa: dri's services in the region include capacity building and advocacy to protect the rights of people with disabilities in africa.
