There has been a big change since 2019, Disability Rights Florida forgot who they worked for. Disability Rights Florida was once known for its strong advocacy and unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities. The organization plays a crucial role in fighting for accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities across the state. However, they no longer return calls. You can call them and fill out the application, but no one returns your call. You can send them emails to follow up and no one returns the emails. This lack of communication has left many individuals feeling unsupported and frustrated. It is crucial for organizations like Disability Rights Florida to prioritize responsiveness and accountability to effectively serve the needs of the community they are meant to assist.

I am redoing my comment,as I added stars the last one ,which were typos.Disability Rights sucked me in with there title being advocacy.I am sure the public citizen is fooled on a daily basis.Advocate Patty sweet as pie,but could not be more of a phony.My son is autistic he has been through hell in the State of FL.And DRA wanted him to just keep on suffering while lieing to me nonstop.They work hand and hand with AMERICAN PERSON'S WITH DISABILITIES.There attorney Rachel ,had me find a psychologist for the DCF Appeal unFAIR FRAUD HEARINGS.Rachel refused a MD the right to testify,due to his Spainish accent being so thick ,she stated " no one will understand him".This Dr was livid,he stated " my patients understand me just fine your son deserves this DDWAIVER.He wrote a letter the Disability rights attorney distorted it so no one would ever read it.My son lost set up frauded hearing because hearing officer" whom retired immediately worked with past Prosecutor from DOH Carrie and her star Dr witness Martha " whom she had in past cited on Waivers" to disqualify my autistic son.Who is not psychiatric.He is off all meds two months no issue.He is in a Independent liveing situation sleeping on a mat of floor while beer drinking and numerous veterans stay ".He is miserable and in liberty city Miami area, without my consent.I am a trigger for him I will probably go get him whatever happens on the road as I live almost 4 hours away,was caused by this egregious organization.Do not donate a cent to these people,do not ask them for help,as you are nothing but a ATM with the handicapped people they steal from .It's disgusting.

Absolutely useless agency that does more to hurt disabled people than help them. Should be just down and replaced with people who use tax dollar money to actually help disabled people. Don’t waste your time, they’ll take a month just to deny you help when you could’ve been getting help elsewhere. Waste of resources, they don’t help anyone. Don’t donate here.

Absolutely no oversight. You can't file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in spite of that they're a corporation because "they're a government run agency" but you can't get an Ombudsman to help because "They're a corporation".

The executive director and board of directors are uncontactable, and the contacts of other lower level directors are difficult to impossible to find. Advocates will insist on phone contact, and in-person meetings. In our case our "advocate" flat out stated we had to schedule things late at night or early morning as he lived 1/2 hour from his offices (and where we were) but he lived where we do and he hated driving. He didn't even show up to the last appointment he made, leaving my disabled son completely without aid, which was a surprise even as unprofessional as he'd been up to that time.

Shockingly our "advocate" was also not afraid to blatantly flat out lie to us. All subjects of the meetings and phone calls are deniable at a later time, as there is no written record. All agreements made are null and void the moment you walk away because it's your word against theirs. If you ask after that to record interactions, you will flat out be told no (for obvious reason). If you attempt to have everything in writing, it gives them the right to refuse aid. Our advocate's supervisor could care less that he not only wasn't doing his job but was sabotaging my son's attempts at gaining a proper education and aid from a government organization that feels free to not help the disabled as they know Disability Rights would be the only recourse of the disabled here.

Unbelievably awful company is taking public funds to do nothing that resembles their supposed mission statement. Waste of donation money as well as government grants that could have gone elsewhere to actually help those in need. NO Oversight, no accountability, and nothing resembling ethics.

Because Vocational Rehabilitation

Asked this agency for assistance with disabled son. They proved to be untruthful, did not return calls, did not follow up, and when they attended IEPs were very unprofessional. Attorneys and advocates came back late from lunch, and even fell asleep during the meeting! If you do not choose to do exactly what THEY want, they will abandon you without any representation. The attorney never once spoke to our son, but thought she knew what was best, but was only interested in using him and his case to make a name for herself in the paper. DO NOT use them! They enjoy the free trips on our tax dollars, and do not accomplish anything, except telling themselves how great they are.
