I'm a small business owner in Massachusetts. You can't pay a full time employee and claim them as an 'independent contractor.'
It's ILLEGAL. The law exists to protect employee rights!
This organization's financials need to be re-audited and reviewed by the state.

A colleague was collecting for DM. I read the review about the director's salary but wanted to make up my own mind.
I was shocked to see that her salary is now $120,000.
Katarzyna Sanetra Butler took a 200% increase in salary in the last 4 years!
What percentage of your donation is getting to women in need when this is going on?
Funds are clearly going straight to the top to support an overinflated salary for the director. That is so wrong for a "charitable" organization. I'm the 2nd person courageous enough to raise a red flag on their finances. Maybe what she's doing is technically legal but it is deeply concerning!
There are too many wonderful non-profits in desperate needs of funds that operate on a truly lean budget, including their amazing leaders. Let's support them!
Such a great organization supporting women and girls! I have been a volunteer and donor and will continue to do so! The women leading this organization are visionary and amazing!
Public 990s completed by the organsation show that the founder DOUBLED her salary from 40k to 80k last year. This is public record and can be fact checked by anyone.
Information from 990s:
2018 at 30 hours per week. Salary: $12,450
2019 at 32 hours per week. Salary: $41,068
2020 at 40 hours per week. Salary: $83,917
Donors and volunteers should have this information before choosing to write a check.
The founder asked to have this review deleted. Deleting factual information doesn't make it untrue and it reflects badly on the organisation's leadership.
Note: The organisation stated below that the salary doubled as work hours went from part time to full time. 8 more hours a week means a 100% increase in salary? There is a problem with transparency here.
Also, this review was published as Great Non Profits reviewed the 990s and found the information above to be accurate.
My company donates to leading women's and girls' charities in MA, NY, TX and CA, and we have chosen for the 3rd year in a row to support Dignity Matters because of it's direct and effective impact in helping so many (14,000+ each month) in need.
Dignity Matters' small, dedicated and incredibly professional team ensures that almost all the funding we donated actually does go to help women live more dignified lives.
As major donors, we always review annual charity audits and 990s, and are impressed with how this organization has scaled over the last several years, especially during the pandemic, while also keeping a very tight control on non-program related costs.
Keep up the wonderful work Dignity Matters!
Dignity Matters is a fantastic asset to the community. Not only do they provide a much -needed service to those in need, but it is a wonderful place to volunteer.
Centre Street Food Pantry, which serves nine Greater Boston communities, has been operating outdoors in a curbside pickup model for groceries since March 2020 when the outbreak of COVID required this change in our operation. We continue to operate outdoors today due to the number of families we serve which exceeds 1,000 per month. Over 50% of these families include children, some of which are teenage girls.
Our outdoor model gives us the opportunity to ask everyone if they would like feminine products. I often see a look of relief and a smile on the faces of women who respond "yes" for themselves, or for their young daughters. We also hear "yes" from seniors, who use pads for light incontinence.
These products are not only a necessity but an important gesture of dignity. Thank you for your support of our agency and helping us provide food and relief to all we serve.

What a wonderful experience this is. I’ve met a great group of women all dedicated to making girls’ and women’s lives a little more dignified by providing them with intimate apparel and feminine hygiene needs. The group is very welcoming and friendly. It only takes a few hours of your time to participate. I’ve only been doing it for a few weeks now. The first I went through bras which people have donated to determine if they are usable. I worked with scissors and depilling shavers to“restore” them to a state where a woman/girl would be pleased to wear it. This week we bagged each bra individually and labeled the bag with the bra size & cup. Who knows what I will be doing next week. It’s fun and very gratifying. Please come join us in Framingham.
Our foundation has been partnering with Dignity Matters for over five years and we could not be more proud of this collaboration. The work they do is so unique yet so essential. We feel a great sense of pride and impact being able to support this wonderful organization!
Dignity Matters is making an incredible impact at a time of greatest need. These last few years have proven challenging to our communities and Dignity Matters is making sure that all women and girls have the right to live with basic dignity.
Wonderful organization who provides our guests with feminine hygiene products on a regular basis. They are so organized and easy to work with! We are so grateful for the critical support they provide.
I began volunteering at the Dignity Matters Framingham storehouse 2 years ago when a friend of mine from church introduced me to the nonprofit. I have been volunteering there ever since and have brought many friends along with me. We love being able to serve there together, keeping our hands busy while we visit. Lora is very organized and always has projects for us to work on. There is plenty of variety but with enough familiarity. Each week is different. The projects are simple yet meaningful. I have also been helping Andrea with deliveries and love being able to see where product is going and how it is helping those in need. I love the feeling of making a difference! Whenever I am volunteering, I feel appreciated for the work I do. I have loved getting to know all the amazing women that work at Dignity Matters and have felt that I have built a community of friendship there. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to make a difference!

I started volunteering at Dignity Matters earlier this year with my women's church organization. From the first day there, I knew it was a place I wanted to be involved in regularly. Now I volunteer there weekly. The program is so organized and well run and although there is always plenty to do, it never feels chaotic or stressful. Kate is so friendly and gracious and always makes me feel like the little bit of work I am doing is so important. She is very passionate about what she does and imbues that feeling in others. It is a joy to volunteer there because not only do I feel that I am making a difference but I feel like I am making friends along the way.
I’ve been volunteering at this wonderful organization and am truly touched and moved with all the important, meaningful work they do. And equally amazed how this important need for so many women and young girls was conceived. It’s heart warming to watch all the volunteers, the products donated, the hours and dedication given to this non-profit.
Dignity Matters provides an invaluable service allowing girls and women to have necessary sanitary products and underwear, maintaining their dignity and making sure they don’t have to periodically miss school or work. I am impressed by the all-woman leadership team, who continue to meet increased demand for this service, particularly during Covid. As the only organization of its kind in Massachusetts, it’s filling a very important need by constantly innovating and making ongoing commitments to those it serves.
I have been on the board of directors, I am a donor, and I have helped deliver product. On every level, Dignity Matters is exemplary. Employing volunteers, organized board structure from a very small start to continuing to grow, to overall financial effectiveness and strength, even at a time of tremendous upheaval because of the pandemic, Dignity Matters has proven to be effective.
I appreciate the mission of this non-profit and the tremendous work the volunteers & staff do there every day. However, after regularly volunteering I saw concerning things firsthand and repeatedly that earn it a two-star review and it all has to do with the founder.
I am sad to say that the founder of the organization is in it for the praise. It is obvious she loves seeing her name in the press and media because she talks about it all the time! She very much wanted an executive title and regularly tells people she was an "executive" in her former work. (Not sure this is true and that she was ever C-suite. who knows?? but it really doesnt matter to the people you're trying to help.) I also know of a volunteer being promised a paid position and being strung along for over a year! Other people may disagree, this is just my opinion.
I can't endorse this charity because of the self-absorption at the top. If ending period poverty is important to you, just donate to their partner organizations but skip this one!!
I've volunteered with Dignity Matters for about 3 years now. It is a well-run organization that makes a huge difference in the lives of girls and women. I'm always amazed at how many people we are able to directly help through the distribution of feminine hygiene products and underwear. I've also really enjoyed working with the staff and other volunteers there.

Dignity Matters is a wonderful and well-run organization with a fantastic mission to provide free feminine hygiene products and underwear to Massachusetts women and girls in need. As a volunteer for the past year, I am constantly amazed at all that we accomplish on a daily basis. Receiving and inventorying donations, washing and refurbishing donated bras, packing hundreds of feminine hygiene products and other items for distribution - we are a busy group of happy and dedicated volunteers! And that's just what happens in the warehouse! There are many more volunteers working behind the scenes holding drives and other events, writing grants, delivering orders, spreading the word about the need and the organization, and so much more. I am privileged to be a part of this amazing and important organization.
Before learning about Dignity Matters, I was unaware of period poverty, the fact that thousands of people are impacted by this issue, and the devastating effects this problem has on women and girls, not only from a physical health perspective, but also psychologically and emotionally. No one should have to choose between food or the necessity of monthly menstrual care. Dignity Matters has, in a very short time, continually grown and supports so many of those in need, and by doing so, has restored dignity and confidence which can shift focus to things like school and work. Dignity Matters prides itself on its integrity, service, and making a difference by engaging with local communities and harnessing their energy to spread awareness through word and action.
Dignity Matters is a wonderful organization that provides menstrual products, bras and underwear to 11,000+ women in girls in Massachusetts. As a volunteer, I have seen this group in action and it is very impressive. They partner with local shelters/food pantries/schools and more to help end period poverty and ensure women have the supplies they need to maintain their health and dignity. They stretch every dollar and donor relationship to maximize the impact on the clients they serve. I highly recommend them!
I learned about Dignity Matters and the work they do providing women and girls in Massachusetts feminine hygiene products, bras and underwear about two years ago. I never understood that even though period protection was essential, food stamps did not cover feminine hygiene products. I was so impressed with how such a small organization of volunteers can make such a difference in the lives of over 8,500 women and girls each month.
There mission to help these women and girls stay healthy, regain self-confidence, and live with basic dignity resonated with me as a mother of two teenage girls. Period protection should be available to everyone who needs it and Dignity Matters is working tirelessly to make sure that this happens.
Dignity Matters mission is simple to help end period poverty. I have volunteered for Dignity Matters for nearly 3 years. Kate the founder and director is passionate, kind, and super focused on the mission. It is run like a well oiled machine and all hands on deck approach. They are able to grow their reach to women and girls at a rapid pace with many volunteers willing to help anytime and the hard working few full time employees. I am constantly impressed by the amount of work they do and the progress Dignity Matters has made to highlight this issue across the state and help improve the lives of women and girls in MA.
I truly love and connect with the mission of Dignity Matters. The work that they do is unmatched, and makes a difference to so many women. Periods are something that are not openly discussed in our society, but are something that can cause a lot of stress to women, both physically and financially. It's amazing to see an organization not only addressing issues related to the financial burden of having a menstrual cycle, but also helping to normalize talk about periods and female needs. I'm happy to continue to support this great cause!
I am a college student home for the semester due to COVID-19 and I was looking for volunteer opportunities nearby. I reached out to Amanda and I was able to set up a time to volunteer. The work Dignity Matters does in providing menstrual products, bras, underwear to menstruators in need is essential especially during the pandemic. I really enjoyed packaging the pads and tampons to be able to provide more period products for Dignity Matters partners sooner. I look forward to volunteering with them again in the future!
I became involved with this incredible charity 2 years ago. I was totally unaware that “Period Poverty” existed and received an in-depth training so that I could become part of the DM team. In the past two years the need as continues to grow and DM has been able to provide new underwear, bras, and feminine hygiene products for approximately 4000 women in Massachusetts. Unfortunately with onslaught of Covid-19, the need in Massachusetts has nearly doubled. The incredibly talented and Founder, Board and staff have continued to meet this challenge with the team of volunteers. This has been a very rewarding experience for me and I will continue to volunteer.

I have been involved with this incredible nonprofit organization for a year now and and feel so blessed to work with an amazing group of women. We are unified to serve a vital need by providing homeless and less fortunate women and girls with basic needs: feminine hygiene products, new bras and underwear. Can you imagine not being able to attend school or miss work because of lack of basic needs? This problem is prevalent in Massachusetts and needs to be addressed immediately.
I became involved with Dignity Matters just over a year ago and love this organization and all it does for period poverty in Massachusetts. It was shocking to find out how many woman and girls cannot afford period protection and how Dignity Matters helps them out. Proud to be part of this community to help.
I recently learned about Dignity Matters through our monthly book club donations. I volunteered to bring our donations to the warehouse. I was immediately impressed by the dedication of the Dignity Matters team of staff and volunteers. Their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of girls and women is truly remarkable. After learning the story of how Kate started her mission to reach out to women in need, I asked to participate. I am honored to support such an incredible organization which defines dignity in every sense of the word.
If I could give Dignity Matters 6 stars, I would. I've volunteered for the organization for over 2 years, and am astounded by the need and the group's willingness to do what it takes to meet that need. Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dignity Matters hasn't wavered. I am proud -- and humbled -- to be associated with Dignity Matters.
Until I came across Dignity Matters, I was unaware of how many people live without period protection in my own community. Dignity Matters does an excellent job supplying feminine hygiene products to those who can't afford them. An incredible amount of organization and collaboration goes into this non-profit's work. They have a unique cause, and they are very dedicated to ensuring that the people they work with can live without worrying about access to period protection. They remain a positive force in the community despite the challenges that the pandemic presented, and continue to address an issue that is often unrecognized in Massachusetts.
Dignity Matters is one of the few non-profits in the MetroWest area that I follow, and it's because of the great work they do for our community. Despite being a young organization, they've done a great job of establishing relationships with other organizations and getting supplies to where they're needed most - even in the midst of a pandemic.
Dignity Matters goes above and beyond every day to ensure women and girls across Massachusetts have access to the vital supplies they need to feel both comfortable and confident in their day-to-day lives. They support individuals from all backgrounds, doing their best to provide for a range of needs. Not only has the number of organizations they support grown rapidly, but continues to diversify across homeless shelters, food pantries, middle and high schools, youth programs, domestic violence shelters and medical clinics. What is most impressive is how they are able to react and respond to changes in need. When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, they scaled up to meet increased need. They went from serving 4,000 women per month to over 10,000! They even provided essential supplies to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency during this time, speaking to the level of trust and dependability they have formed since their founding. Under the dynamic and knowledgeable direction of their founder, Kate Sanetra-Butler, Dignity Matters' staff and network of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to eradicate period poverty and solve an issue few are even aware of, but makes a world of difference to those receiving supplies.
I have been volunteering for Dignity Matters for 1 year now. I couldn’t be happier or feel more fulfilled volunteering for this organization. I am a mother of 4 girls and couldn’t imagine them going without the basic female necessities. To find out so many women and young ladies are going without this basic necessities in my own backyard. Kate (the founder) has such a wonderful heart. All the ladies at this organization are wonderful to volunteer with. I am so happy I found this organization to volunteer my time to.
I started volunteering at Dignity Matters 10 months ago and it has touched my heart. It’s not possible that young girls stay home from school, because they do not have the money for feminine products. I was a teacher and this is not right. Being part of this amazing organization has fulfilled me!
Bravo to Kate the founder and all the volunteers.
I am a volunteer at Dignity Matters, the group is lead by women with big hearts looking to help others. It is a volunteer organization helping women with personal items that is not easily available. i am proud to be part of volunteering arm of this group.
I’ve been volunteering at Dignity Matters for a year and must say it’s been the most rewarding experience ever. The women there are the kindest, hardworking people I’ve ever met. It’s fantastic knowing you can make such a difference in other women’s lives.
Dignity Matters is an incredibly well-run non-profit doing such vital work for our local women and young girls in need. Founder Kate Sanetra-Butler and her volunteers are hands on and committed to the organization’s vision of ensuring that all women and girls are treated with respect and dignity by having access to feminine products and bras and underwear. Through collections and donations, they provide feminine products and underwear to several women’s shelters, and schools throughout Massachusetts. Dignity Matters has also contracted with a manufacturer to produce more reasonably priced feminine products to distribute so they can in turn increase distribution to women and girls in need, reaching far more. Through our Women’s group at my Corporate Office, we held a successful drive and we intend to have another this year. I am also beginning a chapter in my town to help spread the word and bring awareness. I am truly moved by the work of this amazing organization!
Dignity Matters supplies women with, well, dignity! When donating items to those in need, we often forget about the basic hygiene products that women need; feminine hygiene products, bras, underwear, etc. Dignity Matters provides women in need with these items so that these women are able to move through life with dignity. Thank you for all that you do!
I first heard about Dignity Matters last summer (2018) when I read about it in the paper. I was stunned and angry to learn that food stamps can buy candy and cupcakes but not hygiene products, that homeless women were using socks or paper towels for their periods. The work I do may be tedious -- counting tampons, sorting bras -- but always, ALWAYS rewarding when I think about who is being helped. The other volunteers are fantastic women of all ages and life stages, from new mothers to retired professionals. I am proud to be part of such a vitally necessary organization.
I have been involved with Dignity Matters for several years. The dedication of the founder and volunteers is an inspiration. Their desire to serve women and girls propels them forward in love each day. I am honored to be part of this outstanding organization which places the needs of homeless women/girls above anything else. Dignity Matters is serving an unknown need in our modern society and it makes ALL the difference in the life of its clients.
Period poverty is the lack of access to sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education, toilets, hand washing facilities, and, or, waste management. Dignity Matters addresses the first of these by providing sanitary products and underwear to homeless shelters, medical programs, schools and food pantries in areas of Massachusetts. I have been involved with this organization for over a year and help at the distribution center. I am so impressed with the passion and purpose of all the volunteers - from those who coordinate the deliveries, to those that 'pack the orders' , to those that deliver and especially those who work hard to get donations and grants to ensure we can continue to fulfill the need. I am so grateful I found this organization and am proud to be a volunteer.
This fantastic organization fills a need that is not covered by any other agency or group. It is shocking that homeless and economically disadvantaged women and girls do not have easy access to feminine hygiene products. In addition, Dignity Matters provides new underpants and new or like new bras to the same women and girls. No one thinks about donating "new" items to shelters, and used underwear can't be distributed. Kudos to Dignity Matters for recognizing the need, and then filling it with the dignity that is often lacking in charitable distributions. A top notch organization!
This organization helps to provide young women and women in need with the basic dignity every woman deserves every month. Nothing further need be said. Period!

Imagine waking up with your period today and having no access to sanitary products? Me neither! Dignity Matters assists women and girls every day with this challenge. Help us spread the word and increase support all over MA. Access to feminine products should be a basic right and not a privilege. Support the Dignity Matters mission to assist women in managing their period with dignity!
Voices Against Violence work with clients that are fleeing domestic violence that reside in our confidential shelter and community clients. At times, they just leave with their clothes in their backs. Calling Dignity Matters to request for basics necessities such of, bras, underpants and feminine products has been more than a blessing. The clients are so grateful to receive such of much needed donations that majority of the times, they can not afford. Thanks to Dignity Matters, we were were able to serve 6 women in our residential program and 90 community clients.
Every time I explain this organization to a friend, she is amazed that this need exists! How can women not have access to feminine hygiene in this country? And almost every woman I've told makes a donation of some sort after. I've spent time working with donations, explaining the need, and finally today actually working with the women we serve. As a relatively new nonprofit, Dignity Matters has made a huge impact in eastern Massachusetts -- working other nonprofits excited about the services we can help them provide.
I'm a retired nurse and was looking for volunteer opportunities in my area. I contacted Dignity Matters and had an inspiring conversation with Kate Sanetra-Butler, the organization's founder and director. She is committed to improving the lives of poor and homeless women by providing them with feminine hygiene products and bras and underwear. Access to basic hygiene products is something that many of us take for granted. Kate opened my eyes to the needs of thousand of women in my hometown and the greater Boston area. I am now the Liaison for the Women's Lunch Place in Boston. Dignity Matters provides feminine hygiene products to 100 women each month at this location and sponsors bra & panty events for the women. I am happy to be able to support other women and help them live with dignity.
Dignity matters provides homeless women and girls with feminine care items that allows them to not only remain healthy as it addresses these most basic needs, but will allow them to build upon the normalcy of life that they might be lacking in their situations. To imagine going without our most basic needs is unfathomable, and to provide assistance to women in need is extremely rewarding.
Dignity Matters fills a critical need for many homeless women and girls throughout MA. Unfortunately, feminine hygiene products and underwear are often not available in shelters and schools. This sometimes causes girls to miss several days of school each month because they don't have the protection they need. The work done by Kate and the volunteers at Dignity Matters is crucial in allowing hundreds of women to live with dignity, even during her period. Kate works tirelessly on behalf of these women, partnering with homeless shelters, schools, domestic violence shelters, and food pantries to supply women with the necessary products. I am honored to be involved with such a valuable organization.
I am so impressed with the work that Dignity Matters does. The need for feminine protection and properly fitting bras for homeless women and girls in our area is so great and yet rarely is it talked about. Dignity Matters is helping women, not just get fundamental basics that they need but in a way that shows respect for those women. I am proud to be a volunteer for this organization.
I stumbled upon this organization by accident looking for something to do that would make me feel good right after returning from maternity leave, I became a chapter leader and my life has been greatly benefited by all this all the great things this organization has to offer. I have been lucky enough to meet some amazing and carrying people who genuinely want to help other and that has been such a gift.
I first heard of Dignity Matters in November of 2017, held my first collection party in January 2018, and a few months later was the Chapter Leader in my town and organized several drives. It broke my heart to think about women not having access to basic feminine hygiene needs, and I knew I had to get involved. Kate Sanetra-Butler is amazing! Her dedication to Dignity Matters is inspiring. I am excited to be a part of this organization and to help it grow to help the many women and girls in need.
I've been volunteering with Dignity Matters for about a year and half now. I became a chapter leader in my town because I was so impressed with the amazing work that Dignity Matters is doing to help homeless and at-risk women and girls have access to menstrual products and undergarments. Basic needs to give basic dignity!
Being a Chapter Leader for Dignity Matters has opened so many doors from people I have never knew or met before wanting to help. The overwhelming response in wanting to help once someone learns about Dignity Matters mission has been incredible. I am tremendously grateful to be a small part of such an important mission for ensuring all girls and women have equal access to feminine hygiene care. This organization is top notch and the people involved have been wonderful!

Meeting Kate and the women of Dignity Matters, Inc. has been an absolutely incredible experience! I had previously worked at non-profits, with at-risk and homeless youth and teens and sadly it never occurred to me that the girls I worked with might have difficulty purchasing feminine hygiene care. Since learning about Dignity Matters and what it stands for I have been blown away by the connections I have made, the stories I have heard, and the dedication of so many women across Massachusetts and beyond to support other women in need. When women support other women remarkable things happen. I am so thankful to be part of such an amazing organization!
Dignity Matters CEO and its team really stand for their name. They provide dignity to the disadvantaged females in the community. I oversee the Drop In Center in Framingham where those living on the street come daily for services. Dignity Matters is always at hand to supply us with feminine products. We cannot express ourselves enough for how grateful we are to them for the good work they are doing.
We thank you for your service.
This is a fantastic charity that serves to fill a critical gap for women in need. Thank you, Dignity Matters, for all that you do.
My program was contacted by Kate Sanetra-Butler, Founder and CEO of Dignity Matters to inquire as to the needs of the women we serve. Her great team of ladies put together an wonderful event where they were in contact with me to assess what the needs of our women were. After speaking with Kate several times, she arranged to come to the program and provided hygiene products, undergarments, clothing and also clothes for our infants as well. The women were so thankful to receive these gifts and had the opportunity to meet with Kate and her team. This generosity went a long way in helping women in their journey of recovery as some of our women come to us with just the clothes on their back, to be able to have something brand new meant the world to them. Not only did Kate provide these items, they made sure each client sizes were exact and it was truly amazing to see the outpouring of love that was shown to these women.
I can't Thank Dignity Matters enough for their kindness and generosity.

I volunteered with dignity matters recently and was very impressed by the scale of the work they are doing with limited resources. The reach they have into so many communities in the New England area and the resources they are providing to women and girls are unique and unmatched by any other organization. I am looking forward to continue working with them and seeing their work grow as the need for this particular type of work is so great.
Dignity Matters is an amazing organization. In June, the founder, Kate Sanetra-Butler and the COO, Nicky Monahan, spoke at a women's business forum that I am a member of. Prior to their talk, I had no idea that homeless women and girls did not have access to some very basic needs, feminine care products and undergarments. I learned that day that shelters and schools do not provide them and they cannot be purchased with food stamps. Many teen girls are missing 3-4 days of school each month because they do not have feminine products. I knew after hearing this that I wanted to be involved. Since that time I have started a chapter in my town and many local businesses and residents have been collecting these much needed items. Not only does Dignity Matters collect, they also spend a great deal of time at the shelters, fitting women with the right bras and distributing feminine hygiene products. The name of this organization is perfect - Dignity does matter for everyone and I am honored to be a part of Dignity Matters!
No woman should have to choose between a meal and basic necessities, yet for many homeless women and teens, this is a daily decision. As the only charity in our area solely focused on supplying basic feminine hygiene items to women in need, we see the difference in confidence some undergarments can provide. The ladies we serve, as well as the shelter directors we meet, inspire us to keep working to make access to pads and tampons a right, not a luxury.
Dignity Matters is a true example of good in this world. It is made up of caring individuals that give of themselves to help those in need. Its an example of women uniting together to support other women. Its an example of love - and we all know the world needs love!
The story behind how Dignity Matters started is inspiring. One women by the name of Kate Sanetra-Butler came across a need, acknowledged it, and then did something about it. The need was huge, much bigger than herself, but she still acted on it, and in doing so made a difference. Her willingness and determination to step out led to many others doing the same, and because of it women and girls in need are receiving the basic dignity they deserve. This story is proof that ordinary individuals can make a difference - they just need to step out and start doing.
Dignity Matters is addressing an important, neglected need. A need no women or girl should be faced with. I love what Dignity Matters does for these women and girls, and I appreciate the opportunity to be involved.
I was flabbergasted to learn about the desperate need for feminine hygiene products. After hearing about Dignity Matters from a friend, I immediately contacted them to find out how I could help. I am now among the first chapter leaders in RI, working to bring awareness and collect and deliver donations to local women in need. Being a part of such a supportive and loving group, meeting amazingly kind and generous women, and being able to help those who need it are just a few benefits...it takes a village. I'm proud to be a part of this village!
Dignity Matters helps many woman and young girls in Massachusetts by supplying them with feminine hygiene products, bras and new underwear- something we take for granted. Thank you for making such a difference to these women & giving them the dignity they deserve.
I oversee a female shelter and one of the biggest challenges is finding someone to donate gently used bra's, brand new underwear's and hygiene products. I remember the first time I spoke to Kate Sanetra-Butler, Founder and CEO and was thrilled to learn what she and her team were doing. Kate was so thoughtful and sensitive to the needs of the population I had in shelter. Within a few weeks, Kate and her amazing team came out to the shelter for a "Bra" party and every women in shelter received bra's that actually fit them. You can feel the positive energy in the room and what was more humbling was seeing how the team at Dignity Matters treated the women. Kate continues to reach out to me to check in and see if the women need anything. I am so grateful this wonderful resource and everyone that works for Dignity Matters. You have made a big difference in a lot of women's lives and I am thankful for all of you.
I was fortunate enough to spend a day volunteering for Dignity Matters, Inc. and was incredibly impressed by the organization, its mission, and the wonderful people who run it. They are making such a difference in the lives of so many women. It’s amazing to think that some girls actually miss school when they have their period just because they don’t have the money to buy the sanitary products they need. All girls and women should have easy and inexpensive or free access to things like pads and tampons.
I heard about this great charity that provides feminine hygiene products and undergarments for homeless women and girls in Massachusetts. Often, women go without these necessary products, because they have to spend money on food or other survival items. I helped to run a collection drive in April, and then became further involved in the fall and am now a local chapter leader. Happy to help provide this support to homeless shelters in MA. Dignity Matters!
It has been my honor and pleasure volunteering with Dignity Matters and the organizations founder Kate Sanetra-Butler. My role in the organization is Community Outreach Coordinator focusing on collections in Wellesley, MA. In the spring I worked with local businesses to collect over 7,000 feminine hygiene products, bras, and underpants to support women in shelters in neighboring towns and beyond. I am excited to continue my efforts and organize more donations drives in the future. Dignity Matters is an amazing organization that is passionate about the basic needs of women, helping them lives their lives with dignity!
It was such an honor to participate in the Dignity Matters event at the Women's Shelter in Ashland, MA a few weeks ago. I was very happy to be able to use my skills as a certified bra fitter to help the very deserving women find some well-fitting bras that we donated to them. It was a truly humbling experience and at times very emotional for me. Something that seems small and insignificant to the average person can be transformative for a woman who cannot afford everyday necessities, or who has not felt a lot of kindness in her day-to-day life. I look forward to contributing and working with Dignity Matters in the future!

Posted on behalf of Dignity Matters: Our Executive Director’s salary doubled between 2020 and 2021 because she went from working part time to working full time in an effort to keep up with increased needs during the pandemic. Our Board believes in paying our employees a livable wage, and in compensating them fairly for the time and energy they devote to Dignity Matters. Please be aware that if you do not have all the information you need to make a judgment, your understanding and conclusions will be wrong, as they are out of context. Your previous review was removed by GreatNonprofits because your claims were shown to be incorrect based on our professionally audited and publicly available 990 financial form. We really do hope that you will reach out to us if you have any other questions before you jump to conclusions and make public claims that damage the reputation for fiscal responsibility that Dignity Matters has earned through our years of service to women and girls.
