i have no complaints because DNP did all it said it would do and what makes it even better is that I know I am not the only one they have helped
Amazing people pulling together for all the right reasons. The amount of information is great for someone being released from prison.
Excellent organization. They have provided financial assistance and met practical needs by providing basic necessities to my family and me. Thank you.
This assistance is important to someone with my background because as a convicted felon my job options are limited or I face termination at any time. I give this non-profit 5 stars because they give practical assistance. Practical resources are hard to come by and this has been the practical help I need if I can't make my rent or pay some bills. As a single mother, I can't express how this help allowed me to care better for my family.
I was given the necessary resources and opportunities to join support group participation, that has allowed me the connections to thrive and grow in society.
Being a recently released inmate and being thrown into society was a huge challenge for me however, dignity and power provided moral support as well as financial support that assisted me greatly in order to become a healthy member of society, and I am truly grateful
Dignity and power helped me at a time when I was not sure I would ever get back on my feet and become a contributing member of society. Assistance was appreciated, heartfelt and greatly needed.

My name is Patrick Sampson, and I am a returning citizen after 26 years. Dignity and Power Now met me right where I was. Transitioning back into our society can come with many unexpected challenges. But when you have a community of people willing to assist you during this time, it makes a world of difference to the process and the outcome. I have been supported, emotionally, mentally and financially by DPN and I am certain that, had it not been for the love and consideration. My transition would look different today.
I am very thankful for DPN and the love it shows to all the men and women that return home.
I was released from prison after serving 30 years on an LWOP sentence. I had few resources and was reaching out to many of the Reentry organizations in Los Angeles County asking for support. At six months after my release I applied for the financial support Dignity and Power Now provides system impacted peoples and qualified for it. They blessed me with a check for a thousand dollars as well as a bag of hygiene. I used that money to open up a bank account for the first time in my life and gave me the seed money for my savings. I will be forever grateful to them for assisting me with paying my first months rent upon completion of transitional housing and becoming financially independent. Now I work full time and pay all my bills based on my own efforts but in the beginning I had needed help and Dignity and Power Now provided it.
This wonderul and beautiful organization has helped me through some of my bitterest times. Offering me a shining light when all hope was lost. I can honestly say that if not for Dignity and Power, I would not be here today.
Thank you for your blessed works.
Dignity and power has helped me feel supported and recognized as a justice impacted individual. Their resources have helped make a huge difference in the most difficult times of my life. Thank you so much Dignity and Power!!!
Dignity and power now helped me when I got out of prison. I was able to get my i.d. Birth certificate, etc. I also was blessed with a hygiene kit. This organization is of huge importance because when people are released from prison we literally have nothing. Thank you DPN
I got out, after serving 31 yrs. as a lifer and although I have been doing everything I am supposed to be doing I was still struggling with making ends meet. Dignity and Power blessed me with assistance that helped me make ends meet! They have done this for many of my friends as well.
Dignity and Power Now is an awesome program and definitely lives up to the name. Through their activities and efforts, my dignity and power is being restored. I was incarcerated for more than 11 years and came home lost. So much had changed and the stigma of being formerly incarcerated was as real as ever. With the help of DPN, I have not only found a home with people facing the same struggles, but I am now better equipped to deal with the struggles in a positive way and overcome the obstacles. Thank you DPN!
I have been incredibly impressed by Dignity and Power Now's comprehensive approach to addressing systemic issues within the criminal justice system. Through their tireless advocacy efforts, they not only bring attention to the challenges faced by incarcerated individuals but also work diligently to implement meaningful policy changes that promote dignity, respect, and fair treatment for all.
I would like to show my appreciation to all Dignity and Power Now staff for the endless commitment and work being done. It's a blessing when organizations are able to effectively encourage and support the formerly incarcerated in our toughest times when reentering our community. I have been able to use the support for my educational pathway in towards earning a Bachelors in Social Work. Thank You DPN!!!
I was continually checked on by various members, or volunteers, as I struggled to reintegrate into Our community, and Society as a whole. It seems that every time I might’ve needed their assistance, encouragement, and support, they would somehow reach out to me, prior to even considering of asking them for Help.
I am truly Thankful and Grateful ☺️ for always knowing I had many people around me that truly wanted me to Succeed, and more importantly, take advantage of My Second Chance at Life, after Serving 25 years in Correctional Facilities.
They are a wonderful nonprofit company. They help me out in my most needs. They are doing a marvelous job in helping out the formerly incarcerated population. We need more nonprofit companies like dignity and power in this world.
Dignity and Power has helped me through support in so many different ways. Their assistance has allowed me to flourish in my personal and personal life and I am so grateful!
I am a formerly incarcerated individual and received assistance from the Dignity and Power Now organization. Correspondence was professional and understanding of my unique situation. I was treated as a person and not a number. I greatly appreciate the interactions and wish to see more NPOs operate in this manner.
I am a former Lifer who has been out of prison now for about 22 months after 26 years in prison. During these 22 months time I have had the privilege to be a former incarcerated/ returning citizen that has benefited from Dignity and Power Now, Mutual Aid. The funds that I was given has been a tremendous help to not only myself but also to my family. I used the funds to help pay rent and support my family during difficult times (family deaths). Without organization like Dignity and Power Now, Mutual Aid I would not have been able to assist my family during this time of need. My family and myself are very grateful to Dignity and Power Now, Mutual Aid for their great heart and generosity.
Dignity and power has empowered the community with advocacy for change of direction of incarceration! Care and compassion, as well as treatment over incarceration is essential for our communities!
Dignity and Power has helped me in so many ways not only financially but they are supportive in many ways the group meetings are informative as well as uplifting always get something great from my DPN Family I am so blessed to be a part of such a caring group of people
An amazing organization that focuses on what truly needed thank you for everything. I appreciate your help your dedication and sincerity and being connected with what people need.
DNP has supported me for several years, offering crucial services that facilitated my smooth transition from prison to society. Most importantly, they provided a safe and nurturing community that supported me as I worked towards becoming the best version of myself. Additionally, DNP has given me a platform to advocate for systemic change within our community.
They’ve really help me with their groups and their nonprofit organization passing out hygiene for us clothes socks they help me a lot when I didn’t know where I was gonna go. They help me with funds to help me pay my rent. They’ve done a lot for me.
One of the best helpful organizations out here so many resources and just kind loving friendly staff they are amazing
Since I got connected with Dignity And Power Now I have had so many resources offered to me. The staff always made sure that I was aware of the help that was available for me. They also helped me pay my rent with their 1000 stipend that they gave me. That saved me from eviction. I am grateful for this organization
Dignity And Power really helped me out with my transition back in into society. The assistance came just about the time I had to move out of my transition home and find my own housing so I am so happy and overjoyed to share that thanks to Dignity And Power I was able to secure my own housing.
The assistance provided by Dignity And Power was so generous, so unexpected and so needed at the time. I will never forget the generosity and how Dignity And Power was able to help me out when I was in a horrible housing situation.
I was in a hard place coming hoke from prison bit programs like dignity and power gave me hope to keep pushing. I wouldn't be free if it wasn't for this organization thank you for all that you do for us
I've been to four forever rooted meetings and it's a wealth of resources and information. I learn something new at every meeting and it's a good time.
Feels great being in a safe space to collaborate with like minded people. Really enjoying the 2024 cohort.
I love the fact that they share very important information that is very much needed and useful to all, and there is more to learn
Dignity and power has been one of the many reason why I have been successful in my reentry back into society, they have helped me with my mental health and financially , they have helped me with resources to get into jobs and careers plus housing. They are for the people and for prison reform. They are amazing and a true blessing to be part of, I’m
Proud to be part of the dignity and power family…
Review on DPN: As a former lifer, I have greatly benefited from participating in DPN programs such as wellness groups, lifer meetings, and financial assistance.
Revised and enhanced version:
DPN Review: Unlocking the Potential of Life After Incarceration
Having personally experienced life behind bars, I am compelled to share my profound appreciation for the transformative impact of DPN programs. Through their diverse range of offerings, including wellness groups, lifer meetings, and invaluable financial assistance, DPN has played a pivotal role in empowering individuals like myself to rebuild our lives post-incarceration.
One of the most remarkable aspects of DPN's approach is their commitment to holistic well-being. The wellness groups provided a safe and supportive environment, fostering personal growth and healing. Engaging in these sessions allowed me to address the physical, emotional, and mental challenges that often accompany the reintegration process. The guidance and camaraderie I found within these groups were instrumental in my journey towards self-improvement and a renewed sense of purpose.
Moreover, the lifer meetings organized by DPN have proven to be an invaluable platform for individuals who have served long-term sentences. These gatherings facilitate open dialogue, enabling us to share our experiences, challenges, and triumphs. The sense of community and understanding that arises from these meetings is truly empowering, as it reinforces the notion that we are not alone in our struggles. Through these connections, we gain strength, inspiration, and the motivation to persevere in our pursuit of a brighter future.
In addition to the emotional support, DPN also recognizes the practical obstacles faced by former lifers. The financial assistance provided by the organization has been a lifeline for many, including myself. By offering guidance and resources to navigate the complexities of financial management, DPN equips individuals with the tools necessary to regain stability and independence. This support has proven instrumental in helping us secure housing, find employment, and establish a solid foundation for our reintegration into society.
I would like to thank dignity and power the best wishes and praise I can give and hope everyone they have helped feels the same way, reaching out to communities and people in need of help I give dignity and power all the praise God could give and more.they helped me in ways to make me feel better about believing that u are cared for when no one else seems to be there for you.with out dignity and power I would not have faith in my dreams and people are anything that makes life easier and worth living for.may god bless all the vision and positive purpose dignity and power strives for,and may god bless all their endeavors, sincerely Cedric Mills
I was struggling to make ends meet. Dignity and power not only helped me financially. They also gave me a health care package. I was able to help two family members who are still dealing with medical bills from cancer. It gave me a sense of pride to finally help them for a change. Love Dignity and Power Now!
After 29 years of wrongful conviction, I paroled 9 years ago and came straight home to Dignity and Power Now. DPN is so set up to assist formerly incarcerated folks to adapt back into society, learn about the work that’s being done in communities and become apart of the solutions we want for our communities by sharing our experiences
Dignity and power foundation helped me out and starting a new life after being incarcerated they helped me get on my feet and start this journey in a way that I wouldn't have been able to without them and I'm very appreciative
They are awesome came right when there was no other outlet for me and provide me with some much needed essentials
Dignity and power has been a great organization that has helped me persevere through trying and difficult times. Rather it be moral, financially or job training support. Not only did they helped me but continue to provide help and support in more ways than one.
This organization helped me with resources uniquely for a person in my situation. For myself committing crimes came easy but asking for a hand up is frowned upon. This organization not only gave me a hand up but also a community to become a part of. I will forever be grateful and humbled by dignity and power now mutual aid along with there many other profitable and beneficial programs for people just like me.
This is the best non profit belping tve comminity. They help with hygiene diapers and financially as well . All of the staff is friendly and will jump through hoops to help you anyway they can .
Dignity and Power Now is a grassroot organization in Los Angeles that does great work around activism, policy and campaign, healing justice, legal support, and most importantly mutual aid. Being able to get support to those directly and indirectly impacted by incarceration while also fighting against mass incarceration and over-policing of black and brown communities is beyond imagination. The amount of work the team puts in is unimaginable and for that I am grateful and humbled to have an organization that is authentic.
Dignity and Power Now is an amazing place to work according to their employees because they are a very happy group of people. They are very respectful and always willing to help. In my own experience, the organization directly supports community members with financial and rental assistance. The mutual aid team, and my connection with Hilda have been very pleasant. This is why I always try to attend their events because it is for a good cause.
