I have seen this organization out searching for missing boys in freezing December. I read they have been out looking for missing Senior Citizen in Mojave area in hot months. I know they go to the desert and help Motorcycle enthusiasts on holiday weekend. They deserve to be treated with RESPECT and thanked for the service they provide to these desert communities. I have never used their services but at ease knowing they are available on a moments notice.
Always on point and reliable with great staff and experts on site for any situation including but not limited to Comms/First Aid/Recovery.
I volunteered for Search and Rescue with Kern County for over 20 years (for another Team). We worked many events with the Desert Group. They are hard-working, diligent, and skilled. While the county may provide most, but not all the vehicles used in Search and Rescue, all other equipment (Team and personal) is paid for by the volunteers. None of these people get paid for performing SAR duties and often provide their own meals when on a multi-day search. Desert is very skilled in what they provide and they often go over and above to assist the Sheriff's Office find the lost. These folks are exemplary! IWVSAR Member 1992-2012.
I learned about this organization when they attended a public awareness event. I did not know search and rescue volunteers were even a thing. I thought just deputies go out and find people. I did not really the skills and training search and rescue involves. These volunteers are very friendly, knowledge, and great asset to Eastern Kern County especially for my small town. They deserve all the funding for supplies and training they need to help bring home our lost or injured community members and visitors.
I have been a volunteer with this group for over 15 years. This team goes above and beyond the call of duty to get out of bed in the middle of the night normally in bad weather conditions to volunteer their time to search for a person they have never meet. This is an extreme act of kindness and a great resource most communities do not know they have. All proceeds goes towards the supplies and training our members need to continue helping people in need.
This is a wonderful group. Our family goes out to Dove Springs at all major holidays and anytime we just need to get away. Its a much better experience knowing we have a group that will provide medical aid if anyone gets hurt when we are out there. When they are not at Dove Springs, it take at least 45 minutes for any first responders to get out there. We have unfortunately needed their help on a few occasions. They provide a wonderful service at no charge. This is truly an amazing group of people.

This is a great group made up of solely volunteers. Our family goes out to the Jawbone area during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We come to this area for the great sites to see and also knowing there is emergency services that is quickly available especially when medical support is over a hour away and even if they can get the area. I will not allow my kids to go out to the area without them in the area because of there being no reliable cell service in area. We have stopped at their campsite mostly for maps so we do not get lost or for some scraps that look bad but were not bad enough to go to the hospital. Accidents do not schedule appointments and we want to be able to get life saving resources if there is a horrible accident. If any funding can be provided to this team, it would proved a life saving resource to the community that needs it the most.

This team is a great organization! They are allows helpful from passing out free local maps to give directions to provide medical aid and even looking for lost individuals. As a mother, I prefer going out in the remote desert on weekends when this team is out in the desert. I have seen them out on remote trails helping broken down vehicles to passing out water to my boyfriend who was did not plan to be out in the area as long as we were that day. The desert has limited cell service and the response time for medical support is normally hours away but with them in the area I know we will be taken care of and quickly attended to. Any donations to this organization would benefit the community.
This team was very helpful and supportive when my teenager got hurt in the desert. They were very professional and very kind of treating a hurt and confused girl and her mother. This team has my support and I hope it helps them in way because they deserve it.

The Desert Group Search and Rescue Volunteers is extremely proactive and is made up of a well functioning group of unselfish people that give up their time, energy, and even money to help others especially being able to leave the safety of their home and families to risk their own lives to rescue someone they have never met and / or provide answers to love ones. They provide resources and skills that most people would not do for a living for free because it is a important resource that the community needs at its weakest point. In the their support area, most of the terrain is remote and difficult to get there by standard vehicles that even a majority of police and emergency services vehicles can not get to, leading to more specific training and equipment for the required need of the community that is not cheap and / or easily available for non-profit organizations.
The funding the group receives and raises goes directly to resources they need from medical supplies, life saving training, vehicle maintenance, etc. Not one penny goes to someone’s salary, everyone in this group is a volunteer. The volunteers participate in varies activities to schools, desert clean-up, etc. to educate the public about safety (e.g. passing out identifications, maps) and off-road activities since medical services are normally over a hour away when an accident does happen.
Thank you for reviewing this write up because this group is an amazing group of volunteers and any funding that can be provided to them will be greatly appreciated and used in the community.

The team is a great support of our Boy Scout Troop! We like being part of their "family" as we see first hand all the good work they do! They also have members that donate their time to be Search & Rescue Merit badge counselors for the BSA. Please support these guys as they all volunteer their time whenever needed!
The desert search and rescue volunteers have always been helpful in the dove springs are in California. This last year we kind of got turned around and ran into some of these guys and gals.... in the most friendly way they helped us find our way and even gave us a map at no cost which really helped all weekend. Cant say enough for these folks....
Able bodied Desert Rats willing to go out into the desert at all hours of the day or night, in heat or cold, holiday or work day. No words to describe their dedication.

they are fabulous. willing to distribute id cards for all bikers and 4 wheelers to play safe. always ready on holidays to aid the injured. willing to go out and search for hikers in the freezing nights for city slickers wearing not enough clothes or not carrying water. the investment of time is amazing. when I have interacted they have been extremely professional.
Desert Group SAR is always helping with public events, crowd control, traffic control or searching for lost persons. It is amazing the ways people get lost or disappear, no matter their age. When the members get the call from the Sheriff's office, the members are ready to go where they are needed in a short amount of time. I would give them 10 stars if I could!!!!!
Desert group search and rescue allows its volunteers to use their own talents within the organization. For instance, working within the communication trailer, ground searching, camping safety, and first aide. They are always in locations that are a benefit to the desert community for their safety and information. Whether it be during a long weekend or a holiday folks that love the desert will find the SAR group ready, willing and able to provide guidance, and medical care.

Amazing group of unselfish people who give of their time and energy to assist others in need. Our desert group is always available on holiday weekends to assist desert riders and dwellers with medical and rescues if and when needed, this could be just as small as handing out maps of the desert or as large as looking for lost family members. We also provide community services such as the Grand Fondo, school events, military events, and national nite outs for the purpose of letting folks know about what the Desert Search and Rescue is all about and how we fit into each and every life we come into contact with. Our group is highly and constantly trained in life saving first aide, tracking, riding, as well as the care and maintenance of our equipment. Friendships are made within our group that last a lifetime. Our desert group is amazing and I'm proud to be part of the greater good!
The group helps everyone in the desert areas when they get "misplaced/lost" or need fuel, water or medical help.
This is a great all Volunteer team of professionals that are there to support the public. This is the team that the Sheriff depends on for finding lost people in the Eastern Kern County, OHV Riders rely on their support when out riding, and they are always ready to help for evacuations, parades or anything else the community needs! A great group to support!!
Wonderful group. I see them all the time when we go out to the desert. They have given us maps of the area and really nice emergency contact cards!
Please support this group. I've seen them in action, and they do a great job! They give up their holidays and weekends to provide support when needed!
I am a volunteer with this group. All proceeds goes towards the supplies we need to continue helping people in need.
The Desert Search & Rescue Team are all volunteers that only get funds from donations and fundraising! They need your help!
If you like playing in the desert, these are the people that come when you get lost or hurt! All volunteers. We need to support.
Desert Group Search and Rescue Volunteers always give a 100% whatever they are doing or participating in. They are asked to return to support a number of different events.

Desert Search & Rescue are all Volunteers! They've helped thousands of people over the years. They work mainly in the desert of Eastern Kern County in California. This is a great group to support!
Very helpful in many aspects. Involved not only in helping save lives and bringing lost loved ones home safely, DSAR is also very involved with community service, traffic control during multiple yearly parades and local events spread out through out the high desert.
My wife and I were riding in the desert my wife had an accident and we met the desert Sar team they were very professional and considerent and professinal that we decided to join the team we have been a part of the team now for aboutfour years now.and have been a proud member since joining the team
The Desert group has shown me that they are committed to helping people both in the field and in educating the public. They are always willing to go to schools and demonstrate off road safety . They spend every holiday camping in the field to be on hand to help riders faster. In the world of accidents every second counts. They support several communities with traffic control, education, safety trainings. In my observation the Desert group is far more active than any other SAR group I have seen.
When dirt bike riders or hikers travel far out in the desert riding dirt bikes or exploring nature and get injured or lost, commercial ambulance companies cant reach them due to the rough and unforgiving terrain. This is when Search and rescue volunteers leave the safety of their home and families to risk their own lives to rescue someone they have never met. These rescue volunteers use their own equipment and money never asking for anything in return.
This program provides a great service to our local communities. Most folks in our area are all very happy to have us around and feel better having first responders. We live kind of remote and police and Sheriff are not located in our community so having first responders available and seeing them around the community makes us feel better about our community.
