I started attending DBSA-CS support groups soon after I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder at 17. I still have friends I made in those early meetings. I stopped going for many years. After being hospitalized after a suicide attempt, I was reminded about this excellent organization. I started attending regularly and I now facilitate groups and volunteer for DBSA-CS. This group of people have saved my life and I am so thankful and I want to pay it forward.

"We've been there, we can help." Every day, every volunteer at DBSA lives up to this motto by providing peer-led support groups for those living with mood disorders. If you're in need of hope, help, or support, you'll find it at DBSA Colorado Springs. ~ Lori Salgado :-)
I live with Bipolar 1 Disorder. Surviving it, learning to live with it, and thrive was the most difficult challenge I have faced in a life of considerable adversity. The Depression Bipolar Support Alliance has contributed greatly to my recovery. Attending weekly peer support group meetings helped me to realize I was not alone. I learn from other support group members as they share about their own recovery. Becoming a Peer support facilitator was life changing for me. This experience allowed me to use my skills to help others and significantly healed my self-image. DBSA not only provides support groups for those living with mood disorders it also provides volunteer opportunities which give a sense of purpose and meaning. I am honored to serve on the board of directors for DBSA and
am now training facilitators virtually on the national level and meeting peers from all over the country!
My experience with DBSA and the leadership opportunities the organization provided inspired me to to train to become a Peer Support Professional. Recently, I have become employed as a Trainer of Peer Support Professionals. My wonderful new job would not be possible without DBSA.
