DYAO is an amazing, inspirational group of local professional and aspiring musicians that has changed the arc of our child's musical study and passion. We can't imagine where she would be without the years of experience and support that have served to boost her confidence,
Mission: The mission of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra (DYAO) is to expose young musicians and audiences to the joy and beauty of symphonic music, pursuing excellence through exceptional orchestral training, unique and diverse performance opportunities, and new pathways to symphonic experiences. Ultimately, we seek to cultivate the next generation of musicians who will reimagine the future of symphonic music in our community.
Results: For 45 years, the Denver Young Artists Orchestra has nurtured the talents of the Rocky Mountain region’s finest young musicians as an integral part of their musical education. DYAO transforms the lives of young musicians by giving them the inspiration, support, and skills to be tomorrow’s great musicians and leaders.
Our alumni have moved on to top universities and conservatories, many of them performing with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Metropolitan Opera, Colorado Symphony, and many other fantastic organizations. As arts supporters, concert-goers, community professionals, and professional musicians, they contribute to the cultural fabric of their communities.
Programs: We are so excited about the opportunities this year to engage in our community, elevate our young artists, and uplift the power of symphonic music across Colorado and beyond.

DYAO is an exceptional organization that provides professional-level orchestral experiences to Denver area youth. The students are challenged by traditional orchestral repertoire - pieces deemed tricky by many adult professional orchestras - as well as compositions by living composers. They participate in really interesting and engaging collaborations with other artistic groups - theater companies, taiko drums! - keeping their offerings fresh and creative. Youth serious about music need to be involved in DYAO.
