Programs: Sie film centerthe denver film society is a membership-based, not for profit film organization serving more than 200,000 community members annually. The film society hosts regular program series, festivals, and other special events, bringing filmgoers and filmmakers together to celebrate the art of film. Year round programs include: cine club-a monthly french film and discussion program; cinema q-highlights each month the newest films by, for and about the gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual community; docnight-shines a spotlight on the documentary genre from all angles; women+film-monthly program showcasing films by, for, and about women; the young filmmakers workshop-over a two week period in the summer, students age 12-19 learn to plan, write, shoot, edit and score their own films from leading filmmakers and film experts based in the rocky mountain west. 50% of participants hail from inner-city, denver public schools and 40% receive some form of financial aid to attend.
