Causes: Sports, Sports Associations & Training Facilities
Mission: Denver city lax is a non-profit youth development organization creating educational and life opportunities for young people in under-served denver communities through the sport of lacrosse. Providing opportunity and building character in youth is essential to raising community leaders of today and tomorrow. Denver city lax works to:promote lacrosse within urban neighborhoods to contribute to a well-rounded and meaningful educational experience for student athletes at the elementary and middle school level; provide the opportunity to participate, including equipment and uniforms, to any qualified student regardless of ability to pay; promote lacrosse as a positive model to teach teamwork, sportsmanship and scholarship; promote values (respect, tolerance, and hard work) for a foundation for success in high school, college and life; provide experienced coaching, officiating and adult guidance; promote the importance of education; promote and teach ways to live a healthy lifestyle.
Programs: Sports-based youth development - provided funding and experienced coaching for 200 elementary and middle school boys and girls to participate on teams in a youth lacrosse league at no cost including all equipment, uniforms, registration fees and other associated expenses, as well as providing a variety of educational and enrichment activities throughout the year that include academic tutoring, high school and college selection and application process, entrance exam preparation, outdoor experiences such as skiing and camping trips, travel and leadership camps.
camps and competitive teams - provided funding, including travel, for participants to attend both local and national lacrosse and leadership camps.
enrichment - offered activities and mentoring beyond the sport of lacrosse.
