Causes: Homeless & Housing, Housing Rehabilitation
Mission: To increase the supply of affordable housing in the denton area through acquisition, renovation, construction, promotion, financing, development, management and operation of both rental housing and homes offered to first-time homebuyers. Primary populations targeted are first-time homebuyers, persons with disabilities, low-moderate income families and homeless families with children. Dahc is certified as a community housing development organization.
Programs: Property management: provided property management services for the various affordable residential rental properties in dahc's portfolio. These units are leased primarily to very low income special needs tenants including persons with disabilities and homeless families with children. Supportive services for these tenants are arranged through various non-profit organizations.
affordable homeownership opportunity program: secured financing to acquire single-family homes. The rehabilitation of the units are subcontracted out and the homes then sold to low-income, first-time homebuyers. The homebuyers are provided technical assistance through the process and homebuyer assistance (structured as forgiveable loans over a five-year term) that is provided at the time of closing.
