Rudy the half bloodbound / half boxer mix was an escape artist whose owner had been trying to get rid of him basically since he was born. When she finally dumped him at the shelter at eighteen months, DAWG swooped in and saved him. We drove 2.5 hours out to meet him a day or two after they’d had him altered, and they gave us the opportunity to walk him around other dogs in a nice wooded area behind their building. It was a total match for us! DAWG were so easy to work with and I really liked the overall vibe of their organization. Thank you DAWG for helping Rudy find a home he doesn’t want to run away from
Keno been a big blessing to me and brings me so much joy each day! Thank you y’all for help me find him he the perfect fit with me!
My husband and I adopted our first dog together there, his name was Jerry. He was around 11 years old when we got him and he wasn’t expected to live too much longer. DAWG was looking for someone to take Jerry in through their hospice foster program, just to give him a quiet, peaceful place to live his best life for the next few months. They provided us with his special dietary foods, arthritis supplements, a nice comfy orthopedic bed and even covered vet visits when he needed them. We had almost 3 years with Jerry and although unexpected, they continued to provide us with the same care they had promised when he had a life expectancy of only a few months.
We have adopted two dogs from DAWG. Both times we were very pleased. The customer service was wonderful. They are very kind and friendly and helpful. The dogs are an amazing addition to the family. We are so thankful for everything DAWG does.
We have always had a house full of dogs and cats, slowly we had our partings. Over the last five months the house has gained three from Dawg. First two were Leo And Oscar which we didn't actually see for a month, we knew they were here due to multiple scoopings per day. They eventually became Leon and Kevin. Kibbee the long haired wild cat from Dr. Friedas began the slow and agitated acceptance. Lulu that we picked up on Fannin road passed. She was Alfies buddy. They seemed to get each other since Alf was adopted from Morton street clinic. Overcrowding alerts brought us back to adopt The Cowboy. He is young he is free and he is bold. We love everyone that Dawg made available, thank you.
This is an amazing place to adopt a pet! Everyone is so nice & kind! They take such good care of the animals! I adopted a little cat name Brooks in 2020. I still keep in touch with the lady named Shirley that fostered him! She has been a blessing to both of us! Brooks has brought so much love & happiness into my life! I will be forever grateful to Dawg & it’s employees!
We met our sweet baby on the truck and I knew she was the one! DAWG made the process so easy and had a very reasonable adoption fee! So thankful for DAWG!
I have adopted two dogs and fostered several through DAWG and I could not love and trust DAWG more. They work tirelessly to ensure each amazing dog is matched with an equally amazing person.
I am a 2 time adopter, Beckett & Harper, and couldn’t be more in love. Sight unseen. I picked up the longest at rescue at the time, my Beckett….a few days later, my sweet 13 yr old, Harper. DAWG is my hero…..they saved my sweet babies, and I am forever grateful.
LOVE,
Beckett & Harper’s Mom

I found Estelle now known as Sophie on dwag website and fell in love. Went and met her and we have been together since. They are an amazing rescue who real care about the community and especially the dogs.
We have adopted three babies and are active fosters. We absolutely love everyone at DAWG! Our newest baby just came home yesterday
I love adopting DAWG! They make the process so quick and easy, so I can get my cut baby quicker! We have two cats and one dog from DAWG. They are the sweetest things ever! We have always had a great experience with them.
I do recommend adopting and donating to DAWG!
We have adopted 2 cats from DAWG. Both have been wonderful pets! When we first adopted from DAWG, I noticed that the kitten had worms. I contacted DAWG and they asked me to bring him in so they could look him over and treat him! They also gave me extra treatment to take home to be sure he was extra healthy!
We have adopted several incredible dogs over the years from DAWG. Would not ho anywhere else! The love and compassion these folks have for the animals is so obvious. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new family member!
We adopted litter mates. The entire process was great, the foster mom sent either picture or video everyday until they were ready to come home. Recommended DAWG to everyone.
My first experience with DAWG was 7 years ago when I adopted Buddy, a sweet little Shitzu mix, for my mom. He was perfect! Fast forward 2 years later and I found my LittleBit. DAWG rescued her after she was owner surrendered to the pound at 6 weeks old with mange so bad she had very little hair. DAWG (Stephanie Phillips) nursed to health and she became my little Angel. Sugar came along not long after as a companion for LittleBit. Sugar was also adopted from DAWG. Her mom had been abandoned along with her and 4 siblings. Once again I found a “furever” friend! So thankful for this organization that works tirelessly to save these precious animals.
Adopted my furry pet from DAWG a few years ago, and they did an amazing job matching me and my cat! Forever thankful for this organization and bringing me my best fur friend
I have adopted several animals from DAWG and the are the sweetest fur babies! They fit in our family so well! Adopt don’t shop!
My sweet Sadie was taken in by DAWG from a hoarding situation. She lived in filth with over 100 dogs. DAWG took her in and provided her medical care. I saw her on their site and put in an application. After thoughtful matching we got our girl. One year later and she’s a happy and healthy member of our family. We are so grateful for DAWG. Picture of Sadie, the white chug, with her dachshund brother.
They are consistent and dedicated beyond belief!
The dogs and cats can tell they are loved!
From small to large, young to old, all dogs and cats matter!
I have adopted 3 dogs thru DAWG over the years.
All volunteer staff run this place with a team effort that sets an impressive example.
We love working with the great folks at DAWG, our new Boxer Bailey is our third adoption, it has been awesome every time. Supportive before and after the adoption, we will only get our animals here unless we rescue a stray. We can say enough about your love and commitment
My family has adopted two amazing dogs from DAWG. They are a great non-profit and they are amazing people. I also use the low cost vet services they offer twice a year!

I went that day and picked up Harry Houdini and after a short acclamation period we are one happy family. The service that DAWG provides to the community is amazing!
We adopted two wonderful kittens from DAWG, Biv (we call Coco Chanel) and Pixie (we call Ginger Rogers). DAWG is a loving, compassionate organization that we now donate to when we can because they are saving so many fur babies.

I had the privilege of adopting a beautiful siamese kitten from dawg. She is the sweetest little luv bug! I am so thankful for all the amazing staff that help take care of these precious animals until they can find their forever homes!!!
Let me start by giving gratitude to everyone here because it is on a VOLUNTEER basis. These individuals give their time, hearts, homes and money to keep the homeless off the streets. Please remember this when looking for your future family member. These people are here for the animals as well as the community and should be treated with the upmost gratitude. They are willing to do what the rest of us are not!
We have adopted as well as fostered with DAWG. They have given us direction as well as necessities to help out. I know they are very busy but they are always there to help!

DAWG helped me with an awful situation where I needed to save a dog from an abusive home. We adopted Little Billy from them 3 years ago and he is the best dog I've ever had! The foster family must've had cats because I've never seen a dog use his paws so much. They are truly a wonderful organization ❤
Adopted our 2 handsome guys from DAWG and loved how helpful and passionate everyone was with the pets and making sure they matched perfectly with their new families! So happy we decided to take this chance!
I adopted Roxy 7 yrs ago from DAWG. She is the most loveable dog I have ever had. She is so smart, beautiful and realaxed. I am so thankful that DAWG introduced us.
I have adopted 3 dogs from this shelter. You can really tell they spend a lot of time working with their dogs and getting them ready for their forever homes. The dogs were used to being walked on a leash and very social. Our community is so lucky to have this shelter and all the great volunteers helping save as many animals as possible. They always go the extra mile!!
DAWG is great! Not only have I adopted a sweet little kitten from there but they go ABOVE and BEYOND to help out the people in the community!
I lost one of my cats while in the process of moving and they were so generous as to let me borrow a trap crate to place in my old home overnight just in case my cat came out of hiding while we weren’t there.
They are willing to help out whenever possible and are more than accommodating when it comes to scheduling time to go see the animals at rescue as well as looking up shot records, microchips, etc.
Highly recommend this rescue if you’re looking to adopt an animal or if you need help in rescuing an animal!
Dawg has helped my find not one but TWO precious fur babies that have made my life happier! This organization is a great non-profit that helps many families find their perfect fits, and does so much for our community at large.
I have fostered for Dawg for about 4 years now. My friend got her service animal from dawg also! While fostering, i met one very special lady name wren. Shes been the sweetest dog we could have asked for and loves making new friends!
DAWG was so helpful in helping find my precious kitty man Bowie! They’re so kind and do such important work.
Last year I lost my father to suicide. This left me and my mother with an unimaginable amount of grief. I found a bonded pair of little dogs at DAWG for my mom to help cope with her loneliness. They have been the biggest blessing in her time of need. I then went to DAWG to look for a new kitty after losing mine. I feel like I hit the lottery. This cat is my world and comforts me when I’m having trouble coping with my grief.
DAWG is a clean facility with a very friendly staff. They allowed me to sit in the “cat room” and play with as many as I wanted until I found the perfect one. This no kill shelter has made it possible for our area to save thousands of pets from euthanasia and match them with families.
I highly recommend adopting a pet from them.
So excited to see this organization continue to grow and find new ways to help animals and their people stay together! DAWG maintains a pet food pantry for needy families, assists with spay/neuter for families needing help, and is developing a TNR program to help end the overpopulation of homeless cats. DAWG transports 1000's of animals every year to our beloved partner shelters up north, and DAWG has helped more than 7000 animals find their way out of danger and into forever homes!
I was on a waiting list for a dog. I was called by a volunteer to come in and look at the dog. I left 2 messages that I would be there at approximately five to see the dog. This happened within the same day. When I arrived I was told in a matter of fact manner the dog was adopted out to someone five minutes ago. Needless to say this upset and angered me. I recommend you set up some professional guidelines and possibly a window of time to see the dogs when dealing with people you ask to come in. I’m very disappointed with this group. Unfortunately I will be looking to adopt elsewhere.
DAWG is made up of the most amazing group of people I've ever had the privilege to work with in my life. Their dedication to saving the lives of homeless animals literally knows no bounds. If you're looking for a pet, I can't think of a better place to find one. Adopt! Donate! Volunteer!
I love keeping up with this group! They are so friendly and helpful! We love their site, and their FB page makes me want to adopt ALL the sweet animals:) After contemplating adopting a small dog, we decided on adopting a cat this past week:) the ladies communicate so quickly and easily on FB messenger and made sure someone would be there when it was convenient for our schedule to come up there to adopt. They are ALL heart for these animals and finding them loving homes! Their passion for this calling overwhelms me in the best way!
I adopted my terrier mix Yoyo, from DAWG. Everyone was so helpful getting me the perfect dog! Yoyo is best friends with my cats and just lights up any room she walks into! I also volunteer at DAWG, and every volunteer is 100% invested in finding each dog or kitty the best home. The rewards of volunteering and adopting from DAWG are wonderful!

We adopted our terrier mix, Yoyo, from DAWG. Yoyo actually cried leaving DAWG because she loved her caretakers so much. They told me they spent lots of time playing and socializing with her; and even tested her response to cats, since I have them, too. Yoyo has ended up being a happy, loving member of our family, loved by people and all of our kitties! She is a perfect fit for us.
I'm writing this review on my experiences as a volunteer and an adopter. The process with this group is easy and the volunteers are helpful. They are all so very caring not only about the animals, but for the people that adopt them and the community.
These folks work so hard to save and rehome so many furbabies. Their dedication and love for their animals is unsurpassed.
My sister's very pregnant dog was displaced by fire, and staying with me. DAWG offered to take the pups at 8 weeks, spay and neuter them and adopt them out! And they did! They even spayed "momma." I can't speak highly enough of their team and their work for the community.
I have been volunteering here for almost a year now and I love it! Everybody is so kind and helpful. Their passion and love for animals is definitely there. They do anything and everything they can to help these animals!
DAWG is phenomenal. We are grateful for our two adopted fur-babies. They help my ill son and are a HUGE part of our lives and family. Thank you!!!
My wife and I have adopted 3 older and/or sick dogs from Denison Animal Welfare Group. They took these dogs in when most would not have even considered. They see the potential and worth in each animal they save. Their volunteers are more than dedicated. They are invested in the lives of the animals they come in contact with.

I live in Plano, TX. I drove an hour to adopt 2 of my babies. This group has nothing but intentions to save animals and find them good homes. When I am ready for another baby, I will for sure adopt from them. Healthy and happy pups makes us happy.
We adopted both of our fur babies from here. We adopted Thor(all black) first and he is full of personality and we could not have asked for a better kitty. Then at the end of May we moved and since Thor was so use to having other animals around we decided to adopt another kitty. So we adopted Athena (all white). They get along great and are both so full of love and personality. Honestly, the best decision we made. Thank you DAWG for rescuing our babies and helping them. You do so much good for the kitties and the doggies.
This is my Nicky aka Nicholas on the day I brought him home and 2 more recent pictures. Stephanie took him to her office so I could pick him.he was very sick when I got him, Stephanie had a hard time letting him go.They all work so hard to care for these furbabys. DAWG is all volunteers and works on donations. It is a wonderful organization. I'm thankful I found them and was able to Adopt my sweet furbaby. Thank you DAWG for all you do!
DAWG is such a great organization. I found my sweet Sadie (AKA Cookie) there and she's perfect! The volunteers work so hard to make sure all these furbabies get their furever homes. They're all healthy, fixed, and chipped before they go home. NONE of these animals are put down.
We got our dog Bud (Matthew at the time) back in March. He is a great pup!! Our cat's may not agree since his way of asking to play is to bark, but my family loves him very much. DAWG was wonderful to him and made the adoption an enjoyable process.
I fostered Winston from DAWG (aka Cookie) for 3 mos. because he was petrified of people. He loves dogs and instantly bonded with one of my mom’s dogs. She took him in and adopted him. He is the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. Thank you DAWG for saving this “scaredy-cat” and giving him a chance.

I have had the pleasure of having two DAWG dogs chose me for their forever person. The first one is Cher and she picked me in July 2016. I was so impressed by the care and compassion shown for animals that I became a volunteer for DAWG in July of 2017. Seeing it organization more “behind the scene” let me see that the love and compassion you see from a client view is only a mere drop in the bucket.
Buddy Lee picked me in September 2017 and they are both the best.
This Organization of wonderful volunteers goes out of there way to save every furbaby that they can! They make great matches with families and furbabies

We adopted through DAWG twice last year. We had an amazing experience both times. The volunteers are so kind with the animals and the new fur parents. We actually live about an hour away so it was a bit of a drive but totally worth it. These guys are doing awesome work!!
We adopted our sweet Cane (Rambler) on June 9th. He immediately stole our hearts the moment we laid eyes on him in the DAWG trailer. Bruce was so amazing and so patient with me and my kids while we worked to win over Daddy! He even helped calm down our son who was upset that we couldn't take our baby home until he got fixed. Everyone with DAWG is so compassionate and caring with people, but more importantly the animals! They truly love each and every one of them. My husband was in awe by the fact that they immediately recognize dogs that have come back to them from when they were puppies. I recommend anyone looking for a furry family member to check out DAWG! ❤️
We recently adopted Myrtle. The process was so easy. They were have a pet adoption drive outside of Petsmart in Sherman, TX. We just happened to be in town from Ardmore, Ok. We went up to their trailer. They told us about the animals, had bios up for each one, and answered any questions. They let us hold Myrtle and told us a little about her. When we decided to adopt, they took us inside petsmart to fill out the paperwork. Along with Myrtles adoption came coupons for Petsmart, het puppy shots, spaying, and a chip. They kept her for a to have her spayed and we were able to pick her up today. The whole process was from start to finish. Myrtle is in great health and we would definitly make the drive again to rescue another beautiful fur baby from them.
I’ve adopted from DAWG and I also volunteer regularly. It is a very great cause. I also am currently fostering 5 kittens! It can be hard work but is very rewarding! A++++
This is a great group of volunteers that does amazing things. They put their heart and soul into what they do for the animals and the dedication they show is beyond amazing. Without them I wouldn’t have my Abbey and Mr. Oliver. I can’t imagine a life without them. Thank you Stephanie, Karen, Donna, and all the other selfless volunteers for all you do.
I saw 'Patches' (now named Koda Bear) & instantly fell in love with her ears! I called, got the info, went online, & adopted her so she would be ours. Picked her up Sunday after shots & surgery & she was scared, hurting, & very skinny. Shed had quite the week! I tried 7 dog foods, messaged DAWG several times with my concerns & EVERYTIME they were very helpful & never made me feel like I was a bother. These volunteers truly love what they do & welcome you with open arms everytime I've dealt with them. I never wanted an inside doggy but this sweet girl is the perfect snuggler & such a fun personality. If DAWG wasnt so nice, I probably wouldnt have adopted her. ♡♡
Denison Animal Welfare group does so much for our community. The animals benefit but their new furever families do as well. The volunteers go beyond expectaions to make sure those sweet cats and dogs and families are all well suited. We are beyond happy with our sweet Lily and look forward to many others having the great adoption experience as we.
We adopted Our Lola from Dawg, Had a great experience with them. Stephanie worked with us and checked in to make sure we were doing well. Cannot say enough good things about this organization and all the good they do.
Last year we adopted a Catahula Hound Pup mix, Barrett, and wow what a blessing. I cannot say enough about DAWG, this puppy was already scheduled, and structured. He has been such a great little buddy. He never had one accident in the house.
Christmas we adopted two little black kittens, Pierre, and Riggs. This has been another incredible blessing they we loved on, and so taken care of...you will not find a better adoption facility! The people are very current on all aspects of pet care as well as behavior. I plan on contributing to this organization one day as they really care about these little beautiful souls! Check this organization out you will be impressed.

This group continues to make a huge difference for the animals in Denison, Tx. Changing a euthanasia rate of over 80% into a SAVE rate of over 90% in such a short time far exceeds what anyone could have imagined. With no paid staff, this group of volunteers is special. They have a goal of a new shelter facility and I've no doubt they will achieve that goal in the near future and it is the animals and citizens of Denison who will benefit.

I am so impressed by this group of volunteers and what they've accomplished in less than a year. Because of their efforts hundreds of dogs that would have been euthanized by the city pound have been adopted. These volunteers are tireless and continuously network for the benefit of these animals. They have weekly adoption events. They’ve been able to establish partnerships with Walmart for a high-profile location, with Petsmart for foster dog adoption events, with the Purina Pro Plan to Rescue Rally program, with Kuranda beds and AmazonSmile. They are actively campaigning for a mobile adoption trailer and are almost half-way to their goal. Anyone who can donate to their cause will know the donation will be put to good use.
i not only got one but two awessome dogs from DAWG, they were fantastic to work with as well as sent reminders when appointments were due. I'd reccommend anyone looking for a pet to look here to find a wonderful.companion
DAWG is such an awesome organization. When my Maggie had her puppies 9 of them they help us get them adopted. Not only did they spay and neuter the puppies they also did Maggie Mae and her sister Ruby Tuesday. I'm so happy our fur babies got taken care of so well and the puppies got adopted to wonderful homes!
The volunteers that are the heart of this group are nothing less than miracle workers. I am amazed every day at the volume of effort and work put forth to save lives. They let no stone go unturned to save a life. DAWG Volunteers ROCK!
I had a dog from the streets of San Antonio that needed to find a forever home, she was a Dachshund mix and very very sweet. They agreed to take her and add her to the group that was going out of state for adoptions into northern homes. I transported several dogs up to them that evening, arriving after hours. I was met and helped unloading the dogs. I was very concerned about my Yeti dog being traumatized and the coordinator assured me that she would look after Yeti to assure she was okay. She followed up the next day and later days with pictures of Yeti's progress. Great to work with a group that kept the welfare of the animals as the primary goal. Thank you so much.
As an out of state adopter, Denison Animal Welfare Group was Intrumental in helping arrange foster care , vetting , and transportation for a dog I was wanting to adopt through their program. They did an amazing job communicating all my dogs needs and behaviors to me by connecting me to my foster. I felt totally prepared to receive my dog. The paperwork I also received was very informational about my dog. I am extremely pleased they went the extra mile to help connect me with the dog I wanted and walk me the process so easily. I want everyone to know Denison has more to offer not just to the local community but also to anyone seeking a furry companion and is willing to go that extra mile to make it happen..
DAWG continues to make a significant impact on the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats in Denison, Texas. 100% volunteer staffed with zero paid employees, more than 1,200 animals were rescued and adopted in the past year after being spayed/neutered, and vaccinated. DAWG is a very productive group with major goals including a new shelter within 5 years.

In just over two years, DAWG has reduced the euthanasia rate in the Denison pound from more than 90% to less than 5%. Today, the only cats and dogs that are not taken in by the group and offered for adoption are those who are completely feral, very aggressive, or suffering greatly. Each animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, and socialized. Since March 2014, more than 1500 dogs and cats have been rescued. Very passionate Volunteers have donated more than 20,000 hours assisting with adoption events, providing daily care for animals, transporting animals for medical care, getting food and supplies, and maintaining tracking databases for all animals. DAWG operates 100% on donations and volunteer time-there are no paid staff members. This is a highly productive group that is accomplishing amazing things for Denison, TX animals.
Started with this group very early on, taking photos at the pound so we could let it be known what animals were in the city pound and found it amazing how many people were not aware that there was a pound in the city of Denison.. We had adoption events next to the pound with cages and tents, graduated to a flatbed trailer hauling to various sites to get our pups adopted. Next came the enclosed trailer that we stacked cages in and hauled just a bit further for adoptions. But look at DAWG now.........beautiful lime green trailer, we get no funding other than donations, we have no paid staff, all the volunteers come on lunch hour, before work, after work, seven days a week with no concern for rain, sleet, snow, hail or anything else as the dogs and cats need care everyday. Some work at the DAWG House, some work at the events and some work at home with paperwork but all the volunteers have one goal............adopt the animals to good homes. Stop by sometime and see just what a great bunch of people have come together to just get it done... saving one life at a time, one day at a time. Volunteers are always welcome.

This group of DAWG volunteers have accomplished more in a year plus few months than most get done in five years. I am proud to be a volunteer from the ground up and we are only going to get better and bigger. Take a look around City of Denison and see what we have done.
Denison Animal Welfare Group is a bunch of animal lovers who grabbed the pup/kitty and ran with it.
This organization helps the city of Denison tremendously. They work very hard for the love of animals in finding them homes, fosters. supplies and organizing events. I have experienced D.A.W.G. first hand as an adopter, foster and occasional volunteer and my experiences have always been pleasant with this nonprofit organization.
I adopted my dog "Leo" from this group a couple years ago and he has given me and everyone he meets so much joy and love. I am truly thankful to have him in my life and I am so happy that D.A.W.G is here in Denison Texas taking care of business!!
This place is so beyond awesome in helping you find the furbaby that's right for you. I went in looking for something specific and then didn't have one, but then let me know as soon as they did which took less than a week. They gave me flea medicine and heartguard medicine for my new baby and even offered some other things for my new baby. They are doing such good work.
I am donating to DAWGS in Denison, TX based solely on my sister's recommendation at Thanksgiving while visiting. She cited it as a worthy cause supported by a chain of volunteers for me to donate to in lieu of giving her a material gift. I have never actually personally seen the DAWGS site, but its website seems informative/accurate, and my sister is known to selflessly support both people and animals in need. While all communities are not fortunate enough to have strict laws regarding treatment and abandonment of animals and the luxury of no-kill shelters as we do in my AR community, DAWGS gives innocent Texas animals a chance. I hope you will support/give to them as well, and Merry Christmas.
These people are amazing, committed, generous hearted.....totally committed to helping animals whenever they see the need. I was so touched by the story that one of the organizers of the group shared about seeing a little dog and her tiny puppies that had been dumped out on the roadside. She stopped and took them into her car and her home. Posted a photo of this lovely little family looking safe, fed, content. And her communication with the photo, her words for whomever tossed these creatures along the roadside like cleaning trash out of the car: "Where have we failed you..." how is it we didn't reach you in some way so you knew that animals no longer wanted or that you no longer can care for can be surrendered to an organization rather than simply abandoned somewhere.
DAWG is such a great group, I've volunteered some ,but these sweet souls are the most selfless group of people ever, they give so many hours of their time to care for, and host adoption events. This sacrifice on their part has saved so many animals from euthanasia at the local pound , the attention that they bring to pets needing homes has been intensified so much because they take their weekends to get the dogs out visubil to the public .. thank you to this wonderful group !
DAWG does a great service to our community, finding homes for sweet four legged babes. We adopted our dear, Molly from DAWG. We are forever grateful for the love she has given our family! Thank you for all you do, DAWG volunteers!!!
I must say in all my life of all rescues I've been part of. Denison animal welfare group is the best. They welcomed me with open arms. Being in a wheelchair no one judged what I could do they accepted me as a volunteer, built a ramp for me. Just Great people. Doesn't matter if any of the volunteers have a bad day they always show up everyone at dawg is dedicated to what they believe in. They started out small and now look at them. I have so much respect for them all .. running a rescue is not easy. It is very hard. Everyone there puts the animals before anything. I just am so appreciative that our community has them. The rates of euthinazation has decreased immensely. Stephanie is not a selfish person. She built this with the help of all, she never asks for an applause and always recognizes all who have helped her build the group. So much respect for them all. The fur kids are well taken care of and we'll our community really needed something like dawg.
So thank you to everyone
DAWG is an amazing and selfless organization. The people work tirelessly, and do their very best, to find "fur-ever" homes for each and every animal. The cats, the dogs and the city are blessed to have DAWG on their side.
I love this group and what they're about! My parents adopted a pup from there awhile back and she is a great dog and very happy!
I rescued my baby in December of last year. He is the most rotten and spoiled dog I have ever seen! Of course, I may have something to do with that! He is by my side always. Love him to pieces. The people of DAWG were so very helpful when I went in to check out the babies and some still recognize Beau when we visit during adoption events.
Fabulous rescue and associated people. So many lovely animals have been saved and given the chance for a "forever home".
We drove down from Shawnee, Ok to adopt Teddy (the wonder dog) in March of this year. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention very compassionate. Teddy has been a wonderful addition to our family!
We adopted our first dog from DAWG last year & couldn't be happier with him. The volunteers all go above & beyond for all the animals in their care. The shelter is very clean & smells good. The animals all seem very happy & healthy. Excellent organization!
I got my baby Ace (Traveler) there back in March. He's made such great progress and I'm so thankful we were able to get him from DAWG!
These folks work tirelessly providing a much needed service to our community. We are lucky to have them!
I Got my precious Furbaby Max (Oakley) from DAWG and EVERY volunteer I met went over and beyond to help me find the right furbaby for my family! All the volunteers absolutely LOVE these animals! I've even been messaging a volunteer Angela for the last week about Max and she has been so very helpful and she even checked on him the next day to make sure he had a great night! I would recommend anyone that is looking for a furbaby to go through this wonderful place DAWG! Thank you again for all of the hard work all you volunteers put in with these precious babies.
I had a great experience with DAWG. Stephanie was friendly and helpful and I commend her for all the hard work she puts in. I love my rescue puppy!
These wonderful people are truly dedicated to these animals. They have worked so hard for the welfare of these animals. They have come so far in such a short period of time due to their undying love and dedication for these animals. Most people, like myself, didn't even know Denison had a pound until DAWG brought attention to it. So this means many more chances and adoptions for these sweet fur babies. I appreciate everything they do. They are truly amazing.
The volunteers at DAWG go above and beyond for these wonderful animals. And the caring doesn't stop once they leave the facility.
DAWG helped me apopt 2 dogs that I love very much. All the volunteers were friendly/ caring. I recommend rescuing from DAWG to all my friends
I have gotten my furbabies from here and the people at D.A.W.G.are awesome. They really love these babies and want the best for them.
Denison, TX is so fortunate to have DAWG. This organization of such caring people that truly care for the well being of these lost, unwanted and abused animals is beyond measure! We took a dog to foster and became a "foster-fail" because he found his forever home with us & his other 4 legged siblings! DAWG makes a difference for the lives of so many! Thank You to All that help accomplish to make a positive difference in these helpless lives! ❤️
Never seen a group so dedicated to finding homes for needy dogs and cats as this group, which is why I became a volunteer. They make a huge difference in saving innocent animal lives every single day. I am so proud help this organization in any small way that I can. They truly love animals as much as I do.
Such an amazing group of people that go above and beyond to save the sweet pups and kitties in our area that deserve a better life. I owe them a huge thanks for saving my newly adopted baby, Lati, who is a perfect addition to our family! We adore her and are so grateful to DAWG for rescuing her.
So proud to have such a worthwhile organization in our community. DAWG does so much to help the fur babies that cannot help themselves. The volunteers spend countless hours with these animals to make sure they have a chance at a great life. DAWG helped me so much on a puppy I was fostering. Thank you DAWG!!!!!
They have saved so many lives! The volunteers spend a lot of time with these animals helping them to learn to trust people again! I
I haven't had the opportunity to volunteer with DAWG but I share their posts on Facebook. The dog pound has always been there for as long as I can remember and I can't believe no one ever thought about this before. What a great thing these people are doing. I see them out almost every weekend giving their time and sweat to help these animals. They deserve much more than just recognition. Thank you to everyone at DAWG for your sacrifices.
DAWG has some really awesome volunteers and I am so happy to have adopted my sweet Willow from them! :)
A awesome group of volunteers who have made an amazing difference in our community. All the animals that have been saved wouldnt have happened without this group!!!
I have simply followed their success story through Facebook! I am very impressed with the difference they have made minimizing euthanasia of precious animals in our community!
DAWG is entirely run by volunteers, and we cherish every one of them! None of our animals have been euthanized for lack of space, we work incredibly hard to insure that each one of them find the perfect home! We pride ourselves on running a clean, friendly shelter that welcomes anyone who comes through the door. We rely solely on donations and the support of the community to save more than 95% of the animals that end up in our city pound. If you come and spend time with us, you will make a huge difference in the lives of animals. We are fighting every day to SAVE THEM ALL. We can and will make a significant change in our community.
Too many people view Dawg as a wonderful organization supported by careless volunteers. I can reassure that's not the case like my friends and I have witnessed. They speak horribly about their volunteers and treated them likes slaves with no voices. I even witnessed them laugh in one lady's face when she asked if she could foster a dog so they wouldn't have to put any down. Poor lady walked out almost in tears. The board members are leaving slowly as their death toll goes up because they pick and choose who lives and who dies. Think twice before volunteering because you'll regret it.
DAWG changes your life! Paying it forward does your soul good. Relief & gratitude is seen in the animal’s eyes leaving paw prints on your heart. Volunteers become one for the LOVE of animals. Compassion exudes for the discarded dogs & cats. Animals always come first.
The most rewarding part of DAWG is the personal, hands-on approach taken to accomplish our mission. Stepping into a highly emotional situation, the volunteers sign-up, show-up and work all hours to find homes for the lost and abandoned animals of Denison. Working against the clock to save lives in a high-kill city pound, meetings and paperwork are kept to minimum while the animals health and adoption get full attention. Purchasing a mobile adoption trailer and opening a clean, volunteer-staffed adoption center are practical, efficient ways to demonstrate what can be accomplished when we share a common goal. I am proud to be one of the team.
I have volunteered and adopted from the Denison Animal Welfare Group. It has been amazing to see the difference this group has made in just the last year. They have an amazing group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to find forever homes for every single animal. The new adoption center is just one of many ways they working to get these fur-babies homes!
Volunteers are full of drive to help get the animals adopted. Monthly volunteer meetings and newsletters to keep everyone posted on current events.
Highly determined group that have vastly increased awareness of the Denison Pound and its adoption rate. Had great success in first year, as they acquired funding for an adoption trailer to better serve the adoption events. Still working out kinks in communications and best practices, but are building a strong community base.
This group of people are extremely caring and love animals. Their commitment to find homes for these lost and needy animals is unbelievable. They volunteer in all weather and donate their time. They post photos of lost animals on the web and try to reunite them with their owners. They are amazing!
I learned about DAWG driving by the pound last year and seeing an adoption event. I stopped by and was so thrilled to finally see an organization that was working to save healthy adoptable dogs from be put down. I signed up as a volunteer and foster if needed. I received a few emails but noticed at the beginning of this year that they were contacting with more detailed information. I decided to visit an adoption event at the local Walmart. I met some great people who obviously were dedicated to saving and getting these dogs adopted. I donated and decided from that day forward that this was a cause and an organization that our community truly needed.
This amazing nonprofit works tirelessly to find homes for countless pound dogs and cats who would otherwise be euthanized. It is a privilege to work with such dedicated and compassionate volunteers. DAWG is all about the animals, but the additional beneficiaries are the humans who form friendships and make connections based on their desire to love and serve the animals.
