Mission: The delaware business roundtable education committee, inc. Mission is to help improve public education in delaware . In 2006, the committee pledged to help promote and implement a statewide public education plan in delaware entitled vision 2015. Programs: During 2012, the delaware business roundtable education committee, inc. , (dbrec) invested financial resources in programs deemed crucial to the implementation of vision 2015, delaware's plan to transform its public school system to world-class. Dbrec investments resulted in: (1) the expansion of teach for america in delaware to include 46 corps members placed in high-need wilmington schools across three districts, one community-based early childhood center and 6 charter schools; corps members are teaching for a minimum of two years, and more than 2/3 will continue through their careers as leaders and advocates for excellence and equity in public education; (2) the development and submission of delaware's "early learning challenge" application, which resulted in a commitment of $49. 9 million from the u. S. Department of education to accelerate the state's early learning programs to better serve delaware's highest-need children; (3) a public forum, keynoted by delaware governor jack markell, for 500 educators, legislators, and business and community leaders focusing on "delaware's race to deliver," which detailed the pace and progress of education reform in delaware under the state's $119 million "race to the top" grant; (4) sparc (success pathways and roads to careers) a public private partnership with delaware department of education and united way of delaware - 3500 students (in 7 pilot schools) accessed sparc platform. There are also 101 workplaces, 231 volunterrs career coaches and 130 workplace learning activities available on the platform
