Without this non-profit, I genuinely might be dead by now. Four weeks before I was afforded the opportunity to go to the Resiliency Brain Health Clinic, funded by Defenders of Freedom, I was sitting on my bathroom floor trying to figure out how I was going to kill myself. Without this organization, I wouldn't have gotten another lease on life, one where life is starting to make some sense and my health is starting to come in to a different picture. I have a light of hope for a future for myself again and that is more than I could have imagined a short bit ago. Organizations like this are doing the real work to end Veteran suicide by funding the treatment of the root cause, not just the symptoms.
Top-notch organization! I did not have to prove my illness or injury and I never felt judged. Ms. Donna & Resiliency Brain Health went right into helping me with getting my brain to start firing in more areas & strengthening other areas. Dr. G & her team perform computer tests and gaming assessments then immediately go into coming up with a plan they can work with you on in the clinic. It helped me realize my TBI was possibly not from 1 direct blow, but from multiple indirect blows (frequency & proximity). I was an Army Medic on the Evac team in Iraq in 2009. Under Defenders of Freedom, Dr. G and her team are amazing. The energy in their clinic never triggered me. I felt safe! The best part was Dr. G would perform different tests & gently educate me on so many different techniques (breathing, stretches, being conscious of light, and pacing myself). It took me a minute to buy into it all until my family mentioned noticing a difference in my mood, stamina, and speech.
Also a part of the program was their other partner (Ms. Susan Harris) who did a complete blood workup on me, and saw that my meds, prescribed by the V.A., were bottoming out my potassium. Who would have known that my memory fog & loss on top of my mental confusion also connected to my diet? I didn't! I only thought it was my seizures. The V.A. did nothing when I told them, so Susan gave me different tips & Dr. G gave me a book for "Eat Right for your (blood) Type". It bought me some time before I was hospitalized for hypoalkemia. It took being in the hospital before the V.A. listened & helped. Compared to Dr. G & Susan Harris jumping into action right away. All my mental confusion and memory-loss from Feb. 2024 - July 2024 could have been avoided. If only someone cared like Ms. Donna.
Thank you to Ms. Donna for the information and network connections. I was blessed to have been referred to Defenders of Freedom. I am still in touch with them. They are family now. They still check-in and care almost 10mths later. Unfortunately, the V.A. does not take time to educate. In 3yrs they have only medicated me. As my seizures continue to be more frequent, I go back to Dr. G's videos & emails. I can even text the clinic whenever I need something, have new info about myself, or could use more tips. It's cool having people that understand without me having to place more burden on my family. The V.A. tries to make me feel like my illness is not real, but I am the one living with it 24hrs a day. Also important to know-- before my sister passed away, she kept telling me to embrace being a Veteran. In the last 2yrs, I have tried so many organizations "in support of veterans". Defenders of Freedom is the only one who specializes in my biggest struggle (my mind) & is actually good at what they do.
When I was medically retired from the Army, there was an issue with the VA paying me. My AW2 Rep called Donna with Defenders of Freedom. Donna called me and told me that DOF would help me get on my feet until the VA comes through. It took 6 months and my State Senator getting involved but DOF was there the entire step of the way. Then years later, my seizures were getting worse and Donna called me up and offered to send me to some alternate brain treatment. I finally agreed to go and let me tell you it changed my life. I went from laying in bed most of the time to being a middle school math teacher for 4 years and now I am Training Coordinator at a manufacturing facility.
Defenders of Freedom is the best non-profit in the country. They truly help veterans out that really need it. Donna and Jodi are the best people God have put on this earth.
Than you DOF for everything you have done for me and my family.
I was in a dark place until my wife found and reached out to Defenders of Freedom. My TBI was getting the best of me for many years. I had been in and out of many treatment facilities. Nothing worked for me. Defenders of Freedom sent me to resiliency health within two weeks of contacting them. That was the best thing that could have happened to me and my family. I not only learned how to deal with my TBI but I also learned why things were happening to me. I suggest any veteran suffering from a TBI, contact defenders of freedom. They truly care and treat you like family.
Absolutely amazing clinic and doctors. They truly care for you while you are there and continue to care after you leave. They treated the issues without just masking them. They were able to find issues iv had that the army and VA had failed to find. Id highly recommended their work. Blew away my expectations.
When Defenders of Freedom came into my life it was the perfect time for it. I was on a mental journey that was not good. I trusted no one, every person was a threat. I was alone, felt useless, and had nothing forward to look towards. Mind you I was just retired from the only thing that I was good at. I lost friends to combat, but now I've lost all the military and support and comrades.
Then I met Donna the founder of DOF. Such a gentle soul and kind heart. There is no mistake why we all call Donna Mom. That's what she became. No other charity cared like she did. She turned me around and showed we don't have to be alone. I now play golf, (which started at a DOF event). Now 10 years later, I'm pretty good at golf. Thanks Mom for that, I really love playing golf.
This is a life saving charity, without a doubt the work Defenders has put into the brain centers, has saved so many including me. This requires a significant amount of money to help vets with brain injuries. Which is an ongoing battle for each vet.
This group of professionals are dedicated to serving those that served. They make you feel special. Part of the family. They work hard at getting funding just so they can work more by providing a much needed service of care. Always a blessing to be around them.
Changed my life for the better, I will always be thankful for what the DOF family has done for my family
I am a personal recipient of post-TBI treatment thanks to this program. Something that the VA doesn't cover and would've cost me well over $10,000 was gifted to me by this awesome program. As a result, I am sleeping better, my memory is improved, and my anger/aggravation levels are way down. Thank you DOF for everything you've done for me and others!
I'm so grateful for these people! Donna was amazing and the clinic staff changed my life! I've told everyone about it. I've made some life long family From some of the other vets also
This is hands down the top tier of healthcare for veterans with TBI or PTS. Wonderful people to work with that truly support veterans and their families. They provide life changing treatment
While there are many Veteran Service Organizations out there, none can compare to the work that Defenders of Freedom (DOF) does. Not only do they help with Veterans transition from the military back to the civilian world through emergency financial assitance, but their network also assist Veterans either locating leads on jobs, and housing. The DOF family is country wide, with Veterans in so many states that on a simple phone call, a Veteran needing anything can usually locate another Veteran who can help them through the transition, as the DOF family is so rapidly growing.
Another aspect, and one I would consider is the most important aspect that sets DOF from other Veterans Service Organizations is the drive to get Veterans to the Brain Treatment Center in Dallas. For many Veterans the DOD or VA either have missed diagnosing them with Traumatic Brain Injuries, or they have been diagnosed but only treated with medication as the DOD and VA only consider them a number and do not want to treat the injury itself and allow the Veteran to fully recover.
I personally have gone through the treatment. The VA had me on over 100 pills total a day to treat my TBI, anxiety, depression, migraines, sleep disorder amongst so many other diagnosis. Going through treatment, the doctors were able to eliminate nearly 3/4 of the medications I was on. I was able to sleep 8 solid straight without 3 sleep meds. I averaged 4 to 6 migraines a week, and have had non since. My balance and concentration have significantly improved, and the nerve issues I was dealing and struggling with have subsided. What they are doing there is state of the art, and I wouldnt been where I am if it wadst for the assistance by DOF funding my treatment through fundraising and donations.
DOF is a HUGE family, as a Veteran, once you are brought within the orgnization, you are now part of a vast far reaching family of Veterans and supporters who will always be a part of your life. Of the many Veterans Service Organizations I am a part of, none can compare to Defenders of Freedom. I would fully support DOF and also send more Veterans to them first and foremost before sending them to another VSO for assistance due to the care, compassion and dedication they have for our Veterans. They honestly as compared to other VSOs do not treat you as a number, they treat you as family.

Defenders of Freedom and the many Donors that help, gave me the ultimate gift with the ability to attend a state of the art traumatic brain injury clinic. Attending the clinic, the staff there were able to control, correct and give me the tools to better my injury. They did more for me in a few weeks then the VA has helped since 2014. I am eternally grateful to Defenders of Freedom , Donna Cranston, and all the staff that helps make this all a possibility. More importantly a thank you to all the donors. The support you provide Defenders of Freedom is CHANGING LIVES FOREVER.
While serving in the United States Navy as a F/A-18E Super Hornet pilot I sustained devastation injuries in a high speed ejection. Many of my broken bones and assorted physical injuries resolved with time to the point I returned to flying Super Hornets. It seemed I had made a full recovery until mental ailments caused by my unresolved traumatic brain injury became exacerbated over time. I was diagnosed with delayed onset PTSD and eventually was prescribed a medication called quetiapine to help with my insomnia. Retrospectively I was displaying obvious symptoms of TBI including depression, anxiety, insomnia, mood and personality changes, and difficulties with concentration and memory. The focus of my care went to my emotional state by using potent psych medications. My condition worsened to the point I was medically retired from service. I had gone from a thriving fighter pilot to living in an VA inpatient psych ward trapped in a psychosis. The VA care was abysmal. I spent years struggling in and out of psychosis as the only answer seemed to be more prescription medications. I had become suicidal and a shell of the human I once was. This past year I was embraced by a network of non-profit organizations united in a fight to provide veterans real health care. Donna Cranston from Defenders of Freedom invited me to the Resiliency Brain Health treatment center in Dallas. Over the course of two weeks I had the underlying physiological causes of my symptoms uncovered. With the use of a comprehensive blood panel and extensive neurological testing the incredible staff at Resiliency Brain Health discovered and addressed the underlying dysfunctional physiology that had been destroying my life. After two weeks of treatment I had massive improvements in my cognitive functioning. I finally was starting to feel how I used to. Had I received this treatment back when I started to struggle with my TBI I would likely still be flying F/A-18s. Defenders of Freedom and the loving staff at Resiliency Brain Health sent me on my way armed with an arsenal of tools to continue to heal myself. I am now off all psych meds, writing a book, competing in ultra-endurance races and reassuming the role of loving husband and father I nearly lost. I can not thank Defenders of Freedom enough. Your organization has been essential in giving me my life back. This is what real health care looks like.
While there are many organizations out there to help Veterans, there are very few that carry such a concise focus on the "how" like Defenders of Freedom does.
DOF is the realest, most genuine and organic non profit veterans organization I have ever been around. Their mission is truly to make the lives of those who have served our country, and their families such a dramatically healthier and happier one. I have watched them truly SAVE so many lives and the work they do inside the brain is truly remarkable. This is the best non profit organization for veterans ever.
Fabulous organization that changes lives of veterans one person at a time. They are a true gift to so many!!!
Aida SORENSON, love working with defender’s of freedom. Great organization. Tremendous work with TBI treatment.
From an old man with J Rs custom auto service we have been behind Donna and her team for over 10 years best group of volunteers i have ever seen saving the lives of our heroes I have always loved our men and women that protect us and i can not thank them enough as long as i can function i will be part of her family Donna u are our Hero and thank u for helping our Heros all around the country
I have supported Defenders of Freedom from the day it was formed. Donna Cranston was very egar to help soldiers and started by sending care packages to combat soldiers by the hundreds. When the war ended, Donna saw the need to help single and married military personnel get their life after the military started by paying bill and provide the basic to get them started back to civilian life.
Donna and her team saw another need with treatment of Tramatic Brain Injury. Her support of the treatments to help soldiers overcome this condition touched me personally. While playing golf in the DOF tournament I played with a soldier that was suffering from TBI. I found out six months later he went through the treatment paid for by DOF when I play with him again. He was a totally different person as a result of the week long treatment. I will always support the organization because I know all donations are going to help our American Hero stop suffering from TBI.
I could not be more proud to be part of such an amazing organization. DOF has found a true need in the veteran community, and they are doing the hard work to help our warriors overcome.

This world doesn't make too many Donna Cranston's. Her passion, work-ethic and genuine heart for veterans has driven DOF to become the most incredible non-profit I've ever been around. DOF has always remained focused on their mission to help our warriors. I can't thank this organization enough for what they've done for me and my family. I'm happy to connect with anyone who would like to learn more about how impactful Donna and her team are to this community.
As a Veterans Employee Resource Group Board member for a Fortune 50 company, I have had the privilege to work with some outstanding Veteran support organizations. I have not seen any that compare with Defenders of Freedom. From the first day I spent with the organization, I was witness to the dogged determination with which they fight for each of their veterans. As years passed and I have been able to directly support Defenders of Freedom, I became privy to the exceptional diligence and stewardship ingrained in the organization by its founder and leaders. Defenders of Freedom saves lives and provides the "hand up" that our veterans deserve.
What an amazing journey with this organization! They are truly passionate about our military and veterans. Especially, those who may be struggling more than any of us can hope to understand. I’m so proud to be part of their mission.
I have been a volunteer for Defenders of Freedom (DoF) for several years. DoF makes a significant and measurable difference in the lives of veterans! As a volunteer, I’ve witnessed veterans’ lives being changed as they go into and come out of brain treatment. This directly affects their families, friends and jobs. I’ve seen them make connections with other veterans who truly understand their situations and feelings. I can’t say enough good things about DoF and the amazing work that they are doing!
It has been a privilege and honor to serve for many years as a volunteer at fundraising dinners and the annual golf tournament for Defenders of Freedom. One of the things I most admire about Donna, Jodi, Rob and everyone at DOF is their consistency and their devotion to our servicemen and women and their families. They demonstrate such love and respect for each person they serve, and they work tirelessly to improve their lives. If you are looking for a way to directly and positively impact the lives of those who do and have served our country, please consider supporting the efforts of Defenders of Freedom.
I first learned of Defenders of Freedom through my brother who lends them a hand in their Pittsburgh group. This is the real deal !! This year a nephew of mine who has served this country will be able to take part in their TBI treatment and I am forever grateful to see a Vet getting the help they need. I wish I could do more to support this group.
I was given the opportunity to attend their TBI Clinic and receive treatment for my invisible wounds. Without Defenders of Freedom, I would still be struggling and unable to live my life as effectively as I wanted. The folks were first class, showed that I mattered and took the time to answer all my questions. I highly recommend this nonprofit to any other post 9/11 veteran. DOF isn't just an organization it's a family.
Love this organization!! Very loving and supportive of our veterans. They keep in touch and check in on you as well. Helps other vets connect with each other.

This is a great organization that not only helps veterans with the issues they may be encountering but also cares and loves what they do for the veterans even well after the transition back into civilian life. The events they have are also great ways to be around other veterans that have been through similar events and can relate to one another and build bonds that are for life.
This organization is life saving. I’ve had to honor and pleasure of spending four years with Defenders Of Freedom, and the impact they have had on myself and so many other veterans is extraordinary. There are so many veterans out there, male and female alike, who feel they don’t have that camaraderie they had while serving. I truly believe with all of my heart, that they’ve saved lives, and kept the mental health and well being of our veterans their top priority. This organization gave me so many friends, friends that I talk to regularly. A friend of mine recommended this organization to me, and my life hasn’t been the same since. To Donna Cranston and the countless volunteers and benefactors, you’ve gone above and beyond for the veteran community in our country. Thank you!
Defenders of Freedom is at the cutting edge in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries for post-9/11 Combat Veterans. Defenders of Freedom has treated over 130+ Veterans, all of whom are still alive today. DOF has a 100% success rate. I owe my life to DOF and the team at Resiliency Brain Health in Coppell, TX.
Donna really cares about the veterans that she helps. They have given me treatment I would've never gotten without Defenders of Freedom which changes my life for the better
I served from 2004-2008 with the Marine Corps and the US Army from 2011-2015 both as an Infantryman. After two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan I thought I was fine, but after I got out I dealt with severe Depression, Anxiety, anger, a divorce, and loss of purpose. I tried college, got a CDL, got a welding certificate, worked multiple welding and driving jobs and tried what seemed like every career I could think of, but I kept failing at certain tasks which frustrated me. I felt like a failure. I reached out to the VA for help, but all they did was medicate me and made me feel like a "Malingerer" this could be a cognitive distortion, but they just seem like they don't care. I did three years of counseling, tried legal and illegal drugs to cope. Stopped talking to family and friends, people just didn't understand what I was feeling.
I ended up in a mental health facility funded by another non-profit for 6 months and received quality counseling far better then anything the VA had to offer. That helped me connect the dots that I could have a TBI. That's when I heard about "Defenders of freedom" from another resident at the facility. I contacted Donna and she was so kind to me like my own mother. She understood my struggle and got me up to Dallas as soon as she could. I arrived and I felt like I was greeted like a long lost friend and brother from the Doctors and assistants there. They not only treated me for my TBI but explained how to fight the "Ghost." Amazing how a Non-profit can provide treatment that is leaps and bounds far better then the VA. I have hope again, my mood has improved, my aches and pains have been reduced, and they've given me the tools to continue to get better.
Defenders of freedom are living gods purpose helping people. They made me so loved it was overwhelming.
My experience has been unbelievably Amazing!
Ive never allowed myself to admit how much pain/issues I’m actually dealing with. To say the least, I was reluctant to take knee and accept any help. “Suffer in silence”…. I’m pretty good at putting on costume and face of a “once Green Beret” at my local TBI/wounded warrior clinic. It’s been working for a couple years…. But the cracks are starting to show through. I can no longer remember when to go to my appointments or care…
Thankfully I was given a push (DOF/CxC) to try some treatments outside the government programs. Donna at DOF had the fitting personality, and patience to get through to me. I needed the constant communication due to my forgetfulness.
Once there, the atmosphere was unlike anything I’ve been accustomed to. Dr. Gaudet/Staff let me acclimate at my pace, I was comfortable enough by day 2, that I was able to be myself, and speak Army. I didn’t have to think if I was offending anyone, or being labeled. The “NOT flexing my muscles”to keep from shaking was a huge huge weight lifted. I never felt obligated to assure anyone with my “I’m a solid operator” expectations. I was comfortable being a reduced man in pain, coupled with memory and balance issues.
My deficiencies identified, treatments began immediately with little to no time wasted for the entire duration. Additionally, the pharmacy visit, and 1 on 1 brief regarding my blood results was stunning. Now that my hormones, and some other issues are being addressed, I can’t wait to see how I’m feeling in the near future.
The most rewarding part thus far, has been the vast improvement to my migraines, and sleep cycle. Typically I have debilitating migraines 1-2 days a week, and head pain at least 5 days a week. I’m up for 2 days straight, and sleep every 3rd day.
At this point, I had a string of 5 consecutive days of sleep, and haven’t had a migraine in 14 days! I feel like I’m finely on the road to recovery! I’m excited to work towards a much better quality of life.
Ive been contacted multiple times already to ensure I’m still okay, and following my homework. I hate leaning on others for help, but I know have significant memory issues. I couldn’t do this with out them! I’m leaning!
The continued aftercare has been exceptional, I’m truly saying THANK YOU!
This organization saved my sanity. The compassion and professionalism exemplified by Donna and her associates is second to none. This is what is to be expected when it comes to treating our men and women who have given their all to this country with no expectations of help in return. Please contribute to Defenders of freedom. They are changing lives for the better. Please find out more about what this organization does. It is money well spent and managed.
The Defenders of Freedom (DOF) is an amazing organization, they've provided me with a Network of people that I can rely on, friendships that will last forever and with TBI and PTS, treatments that there's no way I could have afforded to have done. After going to the Resiliency Brain Health treatment facility in Dallas Texas for 2 weeks, I've noticed a lot of my cognitive functions have improved my emotions are better in my family is much happier in my presence. The Defenders of Freedom organization is a blessing for veterans like myself. The Defenders of Freedom organization picks up a lot of slack from where the VA system fails to meet our needs, there's so many amazing people within the DOF organization that generally care for our veteran community. All I can say is thank you to the men and women of Defenders of Freedom for giving me a gift in which I could never repay nor would they ever ask me to repay it.
When I found Defenders of Freedom, I honestly thought I was losing my mind but consciously aware it. I had tried everything, so I thought. I reached out to Donna and she responded almost immediately. A few conversations and a short time later, I was in treatment for combat related TBI and PTSD. The treatment outcome was beyond any expectations. DoF, the treatment, and these amazing people not only changed my life, they saved it.
Defenders of freedom helped me get into a better place. They set me up with wonderful drs that literally changed my life. Helped me with medications to complete the circle of care and even flew me there. Its a shame that i can only give 5 stars.
Went above and beyond with my TBI treatments! Great Americans going out of their way to help combat veterans.
DOF is hands down one of the best veteran non profits I've had the pleasure of knowing. They brought me together with other veterans with similar injuries/issues. Which has helped my overall quality if life. Also the opportunity to medically treat an injury I've dealt with for 14 years. What they're doing for veterans if life-changing!

I've been a veteran for over 10 years. Defenders of Freedom was the first to invite me to any sort of event for veterans. The annual DOF golf tournament was fantastic. Met so many other veterans and supporters that had nothing but great things to say about this organization. They truly do care and are giving back to the veteran community in so many ways. A huge thanks to all involved with Defenders of Freedom!
I was the President of the Frisco Lakes Veterans group for 10 years. We held charity golf tournament yearly since 2010. The DOF was the primary beneficiary because of the work they do and the assistance of Gulf War veterans. The willingness of a generation to go to war is directly related to how the current generation treats their veterans . They have done a outstanding job of helping current veterans. About 90% of their funds go directly to veterans.
Defenders of Freedom has been an exceptional nonprofit. Especially in the veteran community. They have not only helped out financially for myself and others in times of struggle. They also have a huge passion for the well being of each of us who have become a part of their family. By doing so they have given those of us with TBI's the opportunity to get top notch care. Care that gets the cylinders (parts of the brain) firing again. Most of all they stay connected with each of us on a personal level. Every year at the Man Cave and the annual Golf outing we get to meet new brothers and sisters as well as see old friends. Being around many other nonprofit organizations in the veteran community. For me Defenders of Freedom stands at the forefront in what they do and having a safe family environment for each of us who took the oath. Donna Cranston has been amazing in the things she does for us and for many has been a 2nd mother to us. Her and her team have such a passion to be there for us and help us get back to living and enjoying life again. I know had it not been for Donna, other members of DOF or the family I have made through DOF I would not be where or who I am today.
I love them and their hard work
Charlie Bird
They are great and very understanding, I would highly recommend getting involved or donating so others have the opportunity to utilize this great non-profit.
This was my second year to participate in the Annual Golf Outing. It was amazing to meet fellow veterans and reconnect with those I went to war with. My first time to participate was in 2019 and the overall experience was healing from within. It was the first time I had seen my brothers in nine years. Reconnecting with them has provided internal healing and ability for me to not feel alone. Defenders of Freedom helped me find myself again and I am forever thankful.
This is a tremendous nonprofit doing amazing work with Veterans who have suffered brain injuries. Its programs are changing and saving lives. It helps with family reintegration and strengthing the family unit.
Hello. My name is Matt Bertron. I went through the brain treatment at Synapse human performance center funded by defenders of freedom. When I first started the treatment for TBI, my neurological scores were substandard. When I left I saw a great improvement in me. I recommend all veterans with TBI to go through this treatment. It is life changing.
An amazing organization that truly gives back to Veterans, past and present!!!! DOF’s work with TBI is absolute top notch!!!!
The heart, soul, and breath that Donna and the team puts into Defenders of Freedom is unmatched. DOF is truly saving lives!!!
Words can not simply express the gratitude not only I have, but my family and friends (other veterans included) are for Defenders of Freedom and legitimately all that they do. They service in more then just finances. They're friends and there is so much comradery.
Thank you DoF. Absolutely amazing. Please do not hesitate to donate or reach out to this organization. I was and now my only regret is honestly not reaching out or finding them earlier! I wish more then anything to be able to pay it forward. But that is only possible with donations. Your donations helped save my life more then once literal and figuratively.
Committed to EXCELLENCE in all they do! Defenders of Freedom continues to fulfill the obligation of the government and every citizen of the United States as President Abraham Lincoln stated in his second inaugural address, "to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan"
EXCELLENCE in care for our wounded
EXCELLENCE in support for veterans and their families
EXCELLENCE in stewardship of donor's dollars
EXCELLENCE in compassion and commitment to TBI diagnosis and treatment
A board of directors who take no compensation so the money raised goes directly to those most in need
Defenders of Freedom is the real deal
As a Commander/Staff Officer during multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, it is amazing the level of care provided by Defenders of Freedom affiliates (above and beyond the military and VA care) for unseen/undiagnosed injuries! I have personally witnessed my own Soldiers suffering from combat fatigue, TBI, PTS, over medication and lack of accurate diagnosis personally benefit from the unique and scientifically proven methods for treating these ailments. DoF has "stepped up" and filled a much needed gap in medical care for those that have departed Service life and are left alone to deal with their challenges. I highly recommend supporting this non-profit and its successes to date in treating the Whole person. Hats off to DoF!! Former Army Colonel who served 30 years.

Unlike like some non-profits who state their purpose it to help veterans, DoF is an honest and reliable organization that truly puts the needs of Service-members and their families first. DoF provides a unique interlocutor service for current and alternative means of medical assistance to veterans who are frustrated with the medical systems available.
DoF receives my highest vote of confidence ( I am a veteran myself and senior leader in DoD).
I was introduced to Defenders of Freedom in 2012. My family & I had been homeless for almost a year when another veteran centric organization donated a home to us. This is where DOF stepped in. We had a new house but I didn’t have a job or any means to feed my family. Donna stepped up and shouldered that burden until I had an income a few months later. But that was not the only thing, she introduced me to a group that has become family & been a positive force in my life ever since.
Remarkable organization that went above and beyond to not only make me feel welcome, but to provide resources for medical care and advice for my upcoming transition to civilian life. I am truly blessed to have the Defenders of Freedom in my corner. God bless all these amazing people who make this happen!
Absolutely one of the best organizations helping Servicemembers and Veterans. I have personally witnessed the benefits of the incredible treatment funded by Defenders of Freedom. This organization literally SAVES lives every single day.
I had an amazing experience with this organization. It was truly a life changing one. Everyone involved are wonderful people. Even though I had never met them, they made me feel like I was home and with family. I can not say enough great things about Defenders of freedom!!!
Donna,
If it wasnt for your organization, my family and myself would have slept on the streets. I cannot thank you guys enough. I appreciate everything you'll do for Veterans. A God sent.
I am an 8 year Army veteran who separated from service at the end of 2013. I have several issues that came with my service, which make social situations very difficult for me. The Defenders of Freedom began reaching out to me, through a few of my fellow Veterans that I served with, to attend the 2019 Defenders of Freedom Golf Outing. I can say with complete honesty that it was one of the best experiences of my life. Being able to reconnect with men and women who served was amazing. DOF made sure that each of us felt welcome, comfortable, and most importantly, appreciated. I can't stress enough how much this organization cares about Veterans and is willing to do whatever is necessary to help. There are many organizations out there who claim to care about Veterans, but fail to deliver on any significant help. Defenders of Freedom isn't one of those. Each and every person involved cares about us and wants to make sure we are taken care of in any way they can help. Thank you, DOF.
Apart from the great people like Donna and her husband, what struck me about Defenders of Freedom (DoF) was their willingness to look hard at the uncomfortable parts of veteran to civilian transition. Like life in general, there are no easy answers, but with hard work you can make it. DoF will put in the hard work to help people, but they emphasize personal responsibility as well. I think that makes them stand apart from similar organizations, and makes their programs effective. Great organization.
Defenders of Freedom is an amazing organization that has really helped me get through my transition from the military into civilian life. Donna Cranston and her team are all amazing people that truly care about veterans and it shows in every interaction I've had with them. This year, Defenders of Freedom put me in touch with a family that i still talk to on a weekly basis and i will be visiting again in November which means the world to me. I would highly recommend Defenders of Freedom to any veteran who would benefit from their services.

Defenders of Freedom is an outstanding organization that reunited me with my brothers in the summer of 2018. The golf outing arranged was on the nicest course I've ever been able to play on, and I probably wouldn't have been able to play there in this lifetime if it weren't for them. Everyone involved in this organization is incredibly thoughtful and truly caring. I 100% fully support Defenders of Freedom!

I first learned of the Defenders of Freedom in 2012, when the company I work for with my husband began to donate and attend the fund raising golf outings and various other fundraisers. I have since become a volunteer at these outing both in Texas and Pittsburgh. I have spent time with some of the Veterans, just by hanging out and listening to them tell of their experiences and concerns. Several have told me that if it wasn't for the Defenders of Freedom, they would have been homeless or still struggling with various illnesses associated with the time they spent defending our country for all of our freedoms! I have always felt heavy-hearted after listening to these stories and our Veterans are on our minds often. They need our assistance in getting treatment desperately needed for PTSD and for Traumatic Brain Injuries, as well as other issues. They and their families have made so many sacrifices. I believe that much more help, both financially and supportive, is needed. The Defenders of Freedom is a wonderful organization that I am proud to be a part of (even if it is a small roll). Donna Cranston and Jodi Sorenson and the entire board have dedicated so much of their lives over these years to supporting and assisting our post 911 Veterans. It is an honor to know them and an honor to meet the veterans who reach out to them!
I attended my first event with the DOF this Summer, a golf outing in the Dallas area. It was an amazing experience! The staff for the DOF truly care about the promise made to our nation's veterans, never once did I feel like the event was for "show". Unfortunately, I have participated in those type of events and they are disheartening to the veteran community. I cannot recommend this organization enough!
Thank you Defenders of freedom for a great golf outing and experience. I also want to thank you for the reunion with my brother. We went over 15 years with out being able to be in the same room and you help make that happen. Thank you so much for everything
Having served on the Boards of Soldiers Angels and Team Rubicon, among others, I have experience with non-profit organizations that serve the veteran community and Defenders of Freedom is one of the BEST! Well run, fiscally responsible, meeting veterans needs whatever they may be (medical, monetary, re-integration, etc), DOF is one of the most effective non-profits, and your donation will absolutely make a difference in the lives of a post 9/11 veteran!
Defenders of Freedom is by far the most helpful nonprofit organization out there for disabled Veterans. Defenders of Freedom may not be as well known as some of the other bigger organizations, but they have the biggest heart. Donna, Jodi, and everyone else associated with Defenders of Freedom truly care about Veterans and make a lasting impact on lives. My family and I were in a financial crisis after transitioning back to civilian life in Houston. Hurricane Harvey hit and we needed a deposit for a new house. Donna and Defenders of Freedom paid or deposit no questions asked. They simply verified some information and took care of us, unlike a lot of bureaucracy associated with other organizations. Defenders of Freedom care about Veterans and their families and build relationships that last a lifetime!
After many years of seclusion, Donna Cranston, the founder brought me to a golf tournament. Little did I know but two things that day would change my life. I found a love for a sport that not only gets me out of the house, but gives me goals to work for like when I was still in the Infantry. The other thing was a non-profit that would be by myside as an individual nearly 10 years later. Every veteran the Donna helps ends up calling her "mom", which I believe speaks more than any words a person can come up with. This non-profit is above and beyond what is expected and beyond the call of duty. Donna serves the people that served, and with the same determination and discipline as those she serves.
Greatest experience one vet can have is healing with another vet or hearing that it is ok to feel how you feel! Great organization that is truly committed to helping reduce 22 a day! Very welcoming and very family vibe within the organization!
I retired from serving 28 1/2 years in the Marine Corps. After retirement, I still wanted a way to give back serving Veterans. It is beyond a privilege to be a part of this organization filled with some of the most dedicated and honorable patriots I have ever met in my life. Anyone looking to do some good in this world can be rest assured all monetary donations will go to supporting a deserving Veteran(s) 100%. I cannot give a higher endorsement to an organization!!

I very happily do volunteer work with this organization. Donna and her team are consummate professionals driven to support disabled Veterans. Their work is critical to "filling in the gaps" left between government care and the civilian sector for our bravest men and women who bear the scars (internal and external) of war. One of the purest non-profits I've ever seen. Love them all!!
Defenders of freedom helped me during a mental health decline. I was invited to a golf outting and ended up seeing brothers I served with I had not seen in 9 years. Life had gotten in the way, this organization brought us back together and now I feel my mental heath has increased since this event. I met several new friends who were also veterans. They explained many different things and told stories I thought I was alone in my own thoughts. This has helped me tremendously with my mental health recovery.
Defenders of Freedom reminds us veterans, that we still matter, and have help to restore my belief that some veteran nonprofits will do whatever it takes to truly help us. Donna and all at DOF thank you for helping me so many times when I've needed it and showing me I'm still valuable at the same time.
I have gone to quite a few Vetetans events over the last 5 years. This trip was by far the most heartfelt that I have been on. At no point did I feel like I was being paraded around like with many of these events. I would reccomend this nonprofit to any veteran looking for an event that will make them feel normal, and respected.
I'm a 10th Mountain Devision veteran and haven't seen many of my platoon mates in almost 10 years. Everyone is so spread out, and it's been difficult to make reunions, being that most of them are all the way in New York. A friend of mine reached out to me and told me about Defenders Of Freedom and what they do for veterans nation wide. I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing and thought it must be some kind of scam, until later verified as a successful and very reputable non-profit that has been helping veterans for many, many years. They go out of their way to provide a way for us veterans to get together and experience the camaraderie that we all miss and love. My experience on this years outing in Dallas is not one I'll soon forget, and I had the time of my life! They handled everything, including food, air fair, hotel accommodations, entertainment, and surrounded us with veterans from all eras. I finally felt like I was a part of something again, and met many veterans who I still keep in touch with to this day. What's more, I whole heartedly believe that this organization saves lives, and very well may have saved lives during this years outing. We lose too many veterans to post-combat suicide, and this organization has provided a way for us to all get together, and to feel the brotherhood bond that some of us don't really have anymore. I fully endorse Defenders Of Freedom and recommend this experience to any combat veteran. What they have done goes beyond achievement and accomplishment. What they've done is a labor of love. Thank you for everything y'all have done and continue to do.
I attended a Defenders of Freedom event this year in Dallas Tx. I was apprehensive at first due to other Veteran Recognition events previously attended. Most events are more about sponsors and self promoting Glory Hounds that have never stood on the Yellow Footprints. I have NEVER been to an event that was so relaxed and non-formal and strictly focused on simply recognizing a Veteran. From the moment I arrived until the last night at the hotel it was a pleasure and warm welcome and reception. I would definitely attend again if invited and recommend this event. If you do attend, stick around in the hotel bar for the last night. They have a tradition that I'll never forget. Thanks again to Patrick, Donna and ALL DOF Volunteers. I have not stopped talking about this event and never will. You are all true Patriots and Thank You again.

Just a great group of people with a great mission and honestly the most comforting people around. I went to one of their golf tournaments for veterans and it really made me feel welcome and safe when I was around people who had experienced the same thing as me.
I was introduced to Donna Cranston and the DOF in 2012 through a friend who knows the family and organization well. I have been fortunate enough to be apart of 3 different DOF events and these events have helped to heal, educate, move on and provide comfort in knowing that veterans in need have a valuable and reliable source of help for various circumstances. I personally know many of the veterans who support or have been supported by this great organization and it means so much to me. Donna has the very best in mind and heart for every veteran that passes through. Her staff has the same heart and are always quick to offer words of encouragement or a hug in addition to the many services that they provide.
Defenders of Freedom is an incredible organization that truly cares and provides the best support for veterans. The DOF staff has such a passion for veterans and it shows in all the work they do.
Amazing org that is truly dedicated to serving Veterans and helping them through transitions and troubles.
Defenders of Freedom, the name says it all. Freedom is not free and what Donna Cranston and her team has been able to accomplish for veterans is absolutely remarkable. The impact and care to just one veteran that truly needs assistance would be amazing enough; however, DOF has impacted so many veterans time and time again over the years. Regardless if it has been reaching out to assist with medical, emotional, psychological, reintegration, monetary assistance, or whatever the needs may be, DOF has been and will continue to lead and assist veterans in need. What an amazing organization, led by Donna and her amazing team. Please continue to help DOF, so that they may continue to help impact so many veterans where it is most needed.
Defenders of Freedom is that lighthouse in the middle of a storm. They are truly committed in helping veterans get the help the need. Donna, Jody and all the staff are always ready to lend a ear or a shoulder to veterans in need. They helped me when things were getting dark. Thank you so much for being there and being my bright light..
Fast service in the process of helping veterans. Truly passionate about the mission in veteran services.
There are not enough stars to give Defenders of Freedom on this survey. They have saved so many lives including mine. Defenders of Freedom and their board continue to make a effort to support so many that have no where to go are feel completely at a loss. It is my pleasure to say I know this nonprofit.
Exemplary organization! Meaningful and genuine from the top down! The mission is noble....good people helping those that were willing to sacrifice everything.....
Thank You!
I was in the army, and deployed to Iraq with the founder’s son in 2004-2005. Since then, I have helped support Defenders of Freedom ever chance I had (still on active duty). Upon retirement, I will continue to support and hope to grow this organization.
Hands down one of the best veteran organizations out there!! As a veteran I have been to a few of their events and the compassion they show for veterans is out of this world! Words cannot express how thankful I am that DoF is there to help us veterans!!
You will not find an organization that cares more about our veterans and their families than Defenders of Freedom.
Hands down an amazing organization! Donna has been an incredible relief when there was none in sight. Not only do they assist veterans but they create a network that can be utilized whenever the need arises.
Defenders of Freedom, headed by Donna Cranston, is one of the few non-profits in existence that fulfills it's mission. Whether it's caring for veterans in need or simply bringing them together, this organization goes the whole 9 yards. Countless veterans have had their lives positively impacted by the love and care this organization provides its clientele. Donna personally has touched the lives of thousands of veterans and her reflection continues through Defenders of Freedom. Thank you DoF, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Donna Cranston and the Defenders of Freedom personnel genuinly care for the welfare of service members in need of support, not only financially at times, but more so emotionally. Their continued efforts to raise awareness about issues that plague many service members, i.e. PTSD, TBI and many other diagnosis, have gone above and beyond. I have been priveleged to take part in some of the events conducted by this organization and I leave feeling rejuvenated and forever connected to my fellow service members! They will always have a place in my heart as they continually look to embrace more and more service members and bring them together for brotherhood and unity. Thank you Defenders of Freedom for your many years of successfully helping service members around the country.
Being one of the individuals touched by Donna Craston and the Defenders of Freedom organization, all I can say is God Blessed . I was going through a financial crisis I meet DOF and Donna through my VA it was a blessing thanks to her my family and my kids still have a place to live .. Donna thank you for everything you do for all the veterans god bless you and god bless the DOF sincerely DUBERNEY ZUNIGA CUERO .......
words can describe how great this nonprofit organization is and the care for the veterans and their families .. I meet DOF through my VA I was going through a financial crisis and DOF and Dona help me and my family if it wasn't for DOF and Dona I will have been homeless she has help me and my family through the year I'm very thankful for DOF and Dona and the great people who donate to this great nonprofit charity to help veterans and their families and soldiers who are still serving and being deploy thank you and god bless everyone in DOF and Dona thank you for all you do for the veterans god bless always ....
As a veteran who has been supported by DoF since its inception, I cannot think of an organization that works as hard to meet the needs of veterans as this one does. From my first deployment to OIF in 2004, DoF has made sure that I am not forgotten, I am appreciated, and I am loved every time I deploy.
I have seen first hand the focus and attention to detail that DoF puts into each veteran that they help and support. Whether it is a Marine private adjusting to a new baby after a deployment or senior Army NCO struggling with a TBI, DoF treats each veteran as an individual and supports them for the long haul.
DoF's affection for veterans is a brilliant example of what a veteran support organization should be.
DoF put together a tremendous event that allowed veterans spanning 5 conflicts and 4 nations to gather in friendship and fellowship! I will never forget the weekend in Dallas and cherish the opportunity DoF gave me to reconnect and reflect.

10 years is Spec Ops just to end with severe PTSD and a TBI. The states court marked me 100% disabled and unemploy-able. My income from social security and the VA is less than 40% than my previous job in the Army. With bills and child support I had no food, letters that warned me my vehicle and my house would be taken away. Defenders of Freedom came to me like a God Send. They have helped me keep my truck, house and have put food on my table for my daughters and I. Even better Donna Cranton became more than just a hero. She became a friend and ever since she has been the mother I've always wanted, a mother and someone I can vent to. I will spend the rest of my life not cursing the swift boot from a medical discharge but paying back the favor Defenders of Freedom had given to me.
One of the only nonprofits I will give my money to. I have seen first hand that the donations are given to those that need it most.
This is a great organization and I feel blessed to have been part of volunteering to help with the golf tournaments and welcoming home the troops at the airport. Donna has a huge heart for our troops and it shows in her hard work and dedication. This organization does so much to support and honor our heroes.
It has been a special privilege and pleasure to volunteer with Donna Cranston and her Defenders of Freedom program. They help our troops in so many different ways. Donna is passionate about our troops and she inspires others. I love the troops and will continue to support them through Defenders of Freedom and Donna Cranston; they have branched out and help in so many different areas from deployed troops to wounded warriors and their family. If you can support only one organization, make it Defenders of Freedom. Thanks.
Members of my unit, 2nd Battlaion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) met Donna Cranston in the DFW Airport rotating through on environmental leave back in 2006. We immediately connected with Donna and Defenders of Freedom and enjoyed their support throughout our 12 month deployment and upon return. Many of us remained in contact with Donna, not just for the support DoF provided, but because of hers and other volunteers' genuine dedication to Soldiers and units, deployed or otherwise. They never asked, "how did we do?", only "do you know another unit we can support?" During a second deployment, DoF was with us and much appreciated. DoF is a collection of wonderful people doing great things for Soldiers, deployed and at home, and especially those injured and or struggling. I don't know if they can help everyone, but I bet they try. COL (Ret) James A. Howard.
My husband and I were helped out by this great organization. There was a point in time where we might have been homeless if it was not for Donna Cranston and all of the wonderful people who have donated and volunteered. Not only have they helped us monetarily but they have also introduced us to a wonderful network of veterans who have become life long friends and family. I am very grateful to all that they have done to keep my husband and I from becoming one of a growing statistic of veterans who are being failed by the system. DoF is worth any time and effort that you have to give. Please help support them so they can continue to make a difference.
Being involved with Defenders of Freedom has been such a rewarding experience. I've had the honor of meeting some true American heroes! I know that the funds donated go directly to paying for the critical care needs of our wounded veterans and deployed Troops. It is truly a pleasure to be able to give back through a non-profit like Defenders of Freedom!
Having the chance to meet Donna and the great people with DOF is one of the best things that has ever happen tome, I am a wounded warrior and the love they show, along with the help in anyway possible supercedes any other organization. Thanks so much for all your help I think of you often. SGT(Ret) Marshall
Being one of the individuals touched by Donna Craston and the Defenders of Freedom organization, all I can say is God Blessed. The hard work of this orginization helps current and past service members in many endevours. I was invited to tee it up for troops in Dallas. The time to reconnect with service members with similar disabilities and many far worse than myself. We were offered a great time with so many great an cheerful people. No matter how down I was when I arrived, I truly had so much fun and took me away from my daily fights in my own life. I can say what I feel about the DOF org. because my keyboard would fall short of the mark. Thank you all
Speaking with members of our military that have been helped by DOF they are very grateful for the support from and the positive change in their lives. I volunteer at the golf tournaments and the positive testimony from our troops is the reason I'll keep volunteering
There was a surgical nurse who had problems when she returned from Iraq. She had not been given the opportunity to meet any soldiers after they went through rehab and therefore thought her part in cutting their limbs off was a terrible thing. When Defenders found out about this situation they brought the nurse to their golf tournament to spend the day with some of the amputees. Her life changed that day, she is now a mother and has a happy life because someone took the time to do one small thing that made a difference to her. When you make a donation to an organization it helps to know how your money is being spent and this organization has changed alot of soldiers lives starting with one small thing.
i actually send letters to the troops thru DOF. i am extremly thankful they include my letters in their care packages. i love getting responses back from the troops. i try to use bright and cheerful paper to brighten their day just a little. i am extremly proud of the work these great people at DOF do and hope they continue on. i now have several people i know personally serving and i am proud to say no one will ever forget the service and sacrifice of all even if they aren't serving directly. i like to think my bright colored letters give even a crack of a smile to our guys and gals serving and i am greatful beyond belief that DOF helps me spread that little bit of happiness. GOD Bless DOF and GOD BLESS our troops and their families
I have volunteered with DOF for the past few years, first as an intern, then as a volunteer. I have witnessed the great things that DOF has done over the years for so many Troops, both deployed and wounded. I appreciate all that they do for our men and women in uniform and know that they are passionate for the cause!
