CharityWatch Investigates: Millions in Missing Donations and a $6.7 Million Legal Judgment Against Large Animal Sanctuary
This animal rescue charity reports granting millions in donations to an organization that shares the same 3 officers or board members. That charity does not report receiving them. Where did they go? CharityWatch analyzed the tax filings of D.E.L.T.A. Rescue and its two related organizations and identified some troubling governance and financial reporting issues, including $2.5 million in donations that are unaccounted for.

There are no words to say how much I appreciate your life work with Delta. With love and daily prayers for you, and Delta and all those still waiting for you out in the wilderness.
Thank you so much for the "work" you do. I admire you so much in the choices you have made in this crazy world. I wish I could share in your work as I do in the love you have for these creatures of God. Thank you again for sharing your life with God's Angels. Lots of tails will be wagging at Rainbow Bridge for you when you stop by to see your friends!
I am still touched by your letters describing all the love you have for the animals you saved. It really shows that they put the donations for the animals first and not toward "free gifts" like the other rescues that send out letters and things we don't need. I appreciate the animals get the donations for food and care directly.
I had been donating to D.E.L.T.A. for many years. (Over 20.) Recently I received a D.E.L.T.A. mailing that had me re-reading it, turning it over, holding it up to light to see if there was a hidden message etc. It concerned Covid-19 and 5G. That mailing disappointed me greatly in my opinion of your organization. I will no longer donate any money. (I wish you had just kept your conspiracy theory to yourself.)
I have been a donor for many years. They do such great work for the animals . This is one
of the best places to donate.
I am a donor of over 20 years and am so proud of this charities accomplishment. The workers and volunteers are dedicated people. You can see where the donations go. From a small shelter to this huge acreage of yards and houses and medical care for the animals who were abandoned. They even have a fire truck in case of wild fires.
I would not be a donor now if I hadn't seen the growth and dedication and love to the animals.
D.E.L.T.A. Rescue is the largest "for-life" animal sanctuary in the nation. Founded over thirty years ago by Leo Grillo, it houses over 1,500 dogs and cats forever. These are the "unadoptables", the abandonded animals who would never find a home. At D.E.L.T.A. Rescue they are given a chance to live out their lives on a ranch north of Los Angeles, CA. Medical treatment, food, exercise and loving care are provided by a dedicated staff. If you are an animal lover like me, do some research, find out more about this amazing place and the man who has dedicated his life to saving theirs. I have remembered D.E.L.T.A. Rescue in my will, and hope that others will choose to do the same.
DELTA Rescue is one of the best grass roots efforts focusing on domestic animal rescue and lifetime care in the country. For those who can't abide disregard, neglect, and abandonment of pets and animal companions, DELTA is an inspiration and refuge. There are myriad challenges, but Leo Grillo has established a true sanctuary worthy of encouragement and support. It's heartwarming to know some people put their heart, soul, and life's work into such a worthy cause.
I LOVE LEO'S MISSION...I LOVE HIS PERSONAL STORIES...I LOVE A MAN WHO HAS DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO RESCUING & CARING FOR INNOCENT ANIMALS.
