Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs
Mission: To enhance the lives of ill children being admitted into a hospital for a prolonged amount of time.
Programs: Dec my room, inc. Decorates and personalizes the hospital rooms of children who have cancer. Dec my room purchases decorations and a few toys and games that reflect the child's unique personality and interests. Dec my room volunteers, wearing our blue aprons, take the decorations and gifts and transform the child's hospital room into a special place decorated just for that child. The child takes their gifts home. These children have been admitted to the hospital for bone marrow transplants, intensive chemotherapy, or other therapies requiring prolonged hospitalization (3 weeks or longer). Dec my room is headquartered in houston, texas and has affiliates in los angeles, boston, and dallas. During 2014, dec my room volunteers decorated 116 hospital rooms at four local hospitals in houston, tx.
