Mission: The mission of DCCNM is dedicated to the development, growth & education of our Deaf NM community and to share our Culture with our allies.
Results: DCCNM's goal for the past 25 years was to Provide Accessible & Affordable Housing to Deaf, Deaf-Blind, & Hard-of-Hearing New Mexicans. This was achieved in 2023 with the completion of the PAH! Hiland Plaza Apartments in collaboration with Sol Housing. We hold monthly community gathering events to provide opportunities for socializing, entertainment and education. Our most recent project is our Deaf Entrepreneurial Program. This program is designed to utilize the strengths of an established Deaf entrepreneur to mentor a budding Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard-of-Hearing entrepreneur. We are currently raising money to complete the final phase of the buildout and the hiring of the Deaf Mentor/Manager of our Deaf Coffee Shop. We are partnering with a local school, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the South Valley Economic Development Center to assist in the many facets of this project. We just hired an Executive Director and who is Deaf. We assisted one Deaf community member in becoming an entrepreneur and then created a contracatual postion for them as our maintainance person for our new Deaf Culture Center. As our demands shift we are actively seeking Deaf, DeafBlind and HoH Board of Directors. we have 4 available seats.
