Programs: Communications: dac has a staff of american sign language (asl) interpreters and communication access realtime translators (cart) available to provide critical communication accessibility 24/7. Services are provided to entities or customers who need to communicate with their consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing in employment, legal settings, counseling, business meetings, job interviews and theatrical performances. Dac also offers asl training to enable the deaf and hard of hearing equal communication access with the community they live in.
advocacy: dac promotes the empowerment and self-advocacy of deaf and hard of hearing, with an emphasis on removing communication and employment barriers in mainstream society. Dac trains and educates employers on how to successfully work with deaf and hard of hearing employees. Dac employs deafness resource specialists in dallas, fort worth, and wichita falls to coordinate projects through local service providers to assist state, local, federal and public agencies, organizations and private entities in making their services accessible and readily available to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
hard-of-hearing: dac provides technical assistance and educational services for people with hearing loss to assist them in finding employment, develop the necessary skills for the workplace as well as coping with their loss. These services are also offered to parents of hard of hearing children. Dac employs hearing loss resource specialists in dallas, fort worth, and wichita falls to support and assist hard of hearing people to better cope and function in society with their hearing aids or cochlear implants.
