This organization focuses on preventing child sexual abuse through education and awareness programs. They provide resources to those who may not know how to recognize, prevent, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Dr. Chambers’s commitment to advocacy and support for survivors plays a crucial role in creating safer environments for children and fostering healing for those affected by abuse within our community and beyond. I myself have never been a victim of sexual abuse, but I know the work that the organization is doing and it has definitely changed lives since it’s inception over 20 years ago. I have always been part of the organization and will continue to support it in anyway that I can.

I’ve known Deborah since she was born. Even though I’m not living in Boston, I have seen Debbie’s growth, maturity and passion for empowering individuals to stand up against sexual abuse. i'm proud to say that when Debbie Chambers was working for me as a tutor and conference organizer at UMass/Boston, she started these important conferences which have helped so many people deal with their and their loved ones traumas. I BELIEVE I WAS GOING TO THE CODMAN SQUARE HEALTH CENTER IN DORCHESTER ON THAT MORNING FOR A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION. NOW IN MY TRAVELS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF BOSTON, I NOTICED INFORMATION FILTERING THROUGH THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THIS YOUNG LADY PROGRAM AND IT AMAZED ME AT FIRST TO SEE THIS YOUNG LADY DOING GREAT AND WONDERFUL THINGS BUT HER CONFESSION ON THE FIRST DAY WE MET SPOKE VOLUMES. I RECALL SEVERAL EVENTS HOSTED AT FRANKLIN PARK DURING THE SUMMERTIME WITH BIG CROWDS OF PEOPLE AND BEHOLD IT WAS THE YOUNG LADY AND HER PROGRAM MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY. I GAVE THE YOUNG LADY MY INFORMATION ON THAT DAY ABOUT 15 YEARS TO 20 YEARS AGO AND SHE SAID, " I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED" AND SHE DID JUST THAT. THE DAY WE MET SHE SAID HER FIRST NAME WAS DEBORAH. YES, DEBORAH IS VERY SERIOUS ABOUT HELPING THE PEOPLE. SHE IS VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT PROVIDING A PLATFORM FOR THE VULNERABLE POPULATION SHE SERVICE. LASTLY, SHE IS A GOOD FOLLOW UPPER. My name is Cheryl Turner, and I've known Debbie Chambers since I was a little one. I could go on about the amazing person she is, but her present being is self explanatory. I had talked with Ms. Chambers about a few problem I was having, stemming from childhood and into adulthood. By the time our conversation was over, I felt relaxed. I felt that things would be okay. She let me know that everything that happened to me was not my fault, and that I did nothing wrong. She told me that my trauma is real, but it is not who I am today. It never was. Excellent nonprofit and the help I am receiving is 100⁰percent

My car was parked on Melville Ave and got hit and run with real bad damage. Even my insurance would cover to fix with a small deductible, I am still very upset that the person who hit it was not honest and irresponsible by hit and run. While I was hopeless to catch the hit and run person as there is no surveillance camera around, a person who is a member of this non profit show up to tell me what she saw and willing to be the witness. I left her name anonymous since I don’t want the person she identified get her trouble. When the police officer made the report, he told me that i should let him know if I have any info regarding the hit and run. However, I think I would give the person who hit and run a chance by leaving a note that asking him to contact me before I report him to the police.

As a victim of sexual assault, I realize the great need and great work that Dr. Chambers does. Her work is sincere and her passion is undeniable.

When I was young (13), I was molested by my father, an attempted rape that hurt and confused me for most of my adult life. When I attended my first of Deborah Chambers' conferences, I was amazed at the work she was attempting to do, for me and everyone in attendance. Deborah's conferences helped us draw a circle of safety and inclusion around ourselves and get on with our lives, knowing that we had the support of Deborah Chambers and others as a foundation.
The conferences helped to break through that sense of shame that we can carry when someone has violated you. There was help for everyone, and lots of love in the room.
The conferences educated people, helping them to feel more empowered, with a greater sense of self and purpose.
The conferences offered healing testimonials that helped if you felt you were alone.
At the end of the conference, everyone seemed to be happy that they were able to
touch or address what they needed, and we all looked forward to the next one.

An African proverb reminds us that "Rivers are filled one drop at a time." Codman Square Health Center is putting in much more than its share of drops to address the inequities, public health challenges and achievement gaps that plague too many of our Black and Brown communities. They are providing comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, substance use, and so many other services to neighborhoods with higher morbidity and mortality rates, further exacerbated by COVID-19. They, quite frankly, save lives, and are as much (s)heroes as the first responders and hospital workers, and have been on the front lines of keeping our children healthy with care, timely immunizations and a competitive education with high academic rigor and social supports. I am a Connecticut resident. I met the organization's founder at a function in the Boston area nearly 10 years ago.
