UNSAFE working environment. I was with this company briefly at the beginning of 2022. Program is decent but the working environment for employees was not safe at all. For any business or nonprofit to succeed SAFETY has to be a priority. I left this position for another job immediately
I worked at this organization from February to April. This is the most UNSAFE working environment I have ever been. They have no security and MPD is tired of coming around because they call them all the time. AVOID this place if you can
DC Doors has always had and always will have a special place in my heart. Having watched the growth of the organization and the staff, all the while maintaining and embracing every opportunity to provide stellar services to families and women with housing crises, I continue to be inspired by and proud of the work they do. Thank you DC Doors for continuing to be a beacon of hope and stability in the community for so many years!
I've been supporting this amazing organization from a little while ago and I get really impressed of the work done to help our latino community. The staff it's really involved in aiding people find stable housing and even continuously expanding their services to those who most need them. All this effort not only motivates me to keep working with them but also really makes me proud of DC Doors.
DC Doors is a remarkable organization. Its staff truly understand how to work with individuals in vulnerable situations and address their needs by building genuine and impactful connections with them. I support the organization because it is only one of two organizations in DC that are doing this type of work. However, DC doors has truly gone beyond its reach to cater to the Latino population and served as a bridge to supportive services.
I am currently a client being served at DC Doors. Through their consistent life skill workshops and supportive staff, I have acquired the skills needed to become independent. DC Doors is a great program because they have staff on call for round-the-clock service, they are very clear in their rules and regulations, and their policies are reasonable. I would recommend this program to anyone who needs help achieving self-sufficiency.
I had the unique opportunity to volunteer for a semester with DC Doors for a class, but have stayed on because it's so exceptional. The staff is culturally competent and plugged into the community's resources and needs. DC Doors is a rare and outstanding nonprofit that moves people into homes and out of poverty through vocational training and advocacy. I'm happy to be able to volunteer for them!
Having worked with DC Doors in many capacities as a volunteer for the past year, I am truly humbled and awed by the dedication and compassion of the organization's employees. The way that they interact with each other and treat each client and volunteer like a family member is so touching and appreciated and is in itself rewarding enough. The staff additionally is so trusting of their volunteers and, regardless of experience, those who choose to serve with DC Doors will find themselves experiencing a variety of functions from contract writing, to client visits, to workshop preparation and teaching. If you are interested in serving the Latino population with a close-knit group of staff members, DC Doors is the organization for you!
I have volunteered for DC DOORS for the past two semesters, and the experience was incredible! The friendly staff, rewarding work, and passion that fuels each and every staff member and volunteer was the highlight of my school year. The volunteer coordinator tailors tasks to the individual volunteers interests, and there is always something that can be done in the office. The work that DC DOORS does to ensure that the Latino community is provided with culturally competent services is extremely important and necessary, and my support for the organization and its staff is unwavering.
I have volunteered at DC Doors for the last 3 years and it has been a great experience. I was able to see the great work DC Doors does to help women and children leave poverty. I highly recommend DC Doors, they make a difference in the community.

I am a Latina, homeless mother. I sought the help of DC Doors, during the time I participated in their transitional living program, I was assisted with finding a job, and getting back on my feet. I came to DC Doors after leaving my abuser and having to live in a shelter and I am greatful for all the help I was given.
