Hello. My name is Chaplain Les Lawrence,
I have just now become aware that GuideStar was aware of our organization. I do have to admitted that I am pleasantly surprised. I have been an ordained Chaplain with Dayspring Ministries here in Kennewick, Washington since 2004. I can see how it would be difficult to support an organization you know so little about. I would like to help with that.

Just this year in 2014 another Chaplain Duane McMillen and I took a course through Foundation search Meta Soft systems gaining knowledge of finding and submitting grant proposals. This is a new and fledgling program within the ministry. Another Program in it's infancy is our Perdiem program aimed at returning funds and equipment to volunteers who have had to provide them for themselves, Expenses like overnight stays in towns the prison we go into are located during winter months when conditions prevent us from getting back home the same day safely, emergency auto repairs and more., Dayspring Ministry is primarily a volunteer based ministry. Volunteers come and go we are always on the look out for mature men and women believers who desire to go into the Jails and Prisons to fill the need we have for them as our current chaplains stay very busy, so do our supporters as many are in there 80's and 90's,Lord only knows how much longer they will be with us. Many have been faithful long time supporters. The grants have not yet produced any support for growth, operating expense, the new programs or any other needs just yet, but we are still working at it.

Welcome to the world of Foundations and Not-For-Profit Organizations!
We here at Dayspring ministries have noticed that we may have missed the opportunity to inform your company of an organization you may find to be a worthy asset to help you meet the needs of fellow citizens in this area.

Dayspring ministries has been a source of hope and encouragement to men and women Incarcerated in local jails and eight prisons in eastern Washington and Oregon as well as many homeless and hungry of the Tri-Cities. Incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization May of 1983 we have provided the encouragement, and spiritual support needed by those serving correctional sentences for more than 30 years. Dayspring ministries also provides the safety and stability needed by many released from prison or jails and those living on the streets through pastoral counsel of Chaplains, volunteers, staff mentoring and feeding programs. We are primarily a volunteer based provider of these services.

Please take the time to outline and send us your funding interests along with your application procedures. If we discover that we have mutual goals, we would be delighted to partner with you to help meet your objectives.

Thank you for your desire to make a qualitative difference in our shared communities.

The mission of Dayspring Ministries is to meet the spiritual needs of inmates at correctional facilities by providing spiritually mature, equipped, and motivated men and women to serve as Christian chaplains throughout eastern Washington and Oregon. Today 1,500 jail and prison services are held each year, and Dayspring has expanded its focus due to the need to assist inmates in the transition back to society. Volunteers and chaplains now facilitate Mentoring Support Groups for newly released men and women, and provide start-up supplies to assist in the transition. We offer a series of self-study Bible courses with an easy to use format that is adaptable to any Bible translation. There are tests at the end of each chapter, a final exam, and a certificate is issued upon completion. In addition to the Bible study course, we are generating an education program to teach clients the social, behavioral, and vocational skills necessary to resolve the problems that lead to recidivism. We are making plans to establish a Transitional Housing Program that will provide a safe environment and the support needed for a successful transition back to society.

In 1992 Dayspring took to the streets, and what started as a storefront, offering hot coffee and donuts has grown to an average of 8,960 full meals per year. The first nine months of 2014 the end of September reflected 5,027 served meals with the next winter quarter just around the corner. In 1994 Dayspring aired its first television broadcast and today 156 television programs are aired annually. these programs are produced by volunteers and amateurs.

Dayspring Ministries became incorporated and received its 501{c}3 status in May of 1983. Since that time the ministry has grown to seven board members and 30 trained chaplains cleared and authorized to minister at eight correctional facilities throughout eastern Washington and Oregon. One of our new programs has two certified volunteer fundraisers on staff to help facilitate the start up of our new Per Diem program and Transitional Housing, and we greatly appreciate your consideration in these important community service and projects.

We would be pleased to provide any additional information and look forward to the prospect of submitting a full proposal for your review. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 509-582-1011 or

Just this year through September we have served 5,027 full meals to all who are there when it is served, all prepared by a volunteer cook who often reaches into his own pocket to provide goods for this with out ever asking to be reimbursed how nice it would be to bless him through our perdiem program.

Volunteers that show up every Saturday evening to provide gospel music and biblical messages, the videoing of the music and message aired over charter communications and Radiant Light broadcasting, Distribution of bibles, encouragement, referrals to places for care and shelter when we.
can locate them, for a small ministry we do a lot. Thank you for helping us help others.
Thanks for the opportunity to share. Knowing more about us may help you.
Stay Blessed and thanks for being the blessing that you are.
