Daya is an incredible success story in the family of non profits serving Houston TX minorities. Started in 1996 with a handful of volunteers and a simple hot line for victims of domestic violence, today Daya has grown into a established non profit with three full time staff that handled more than 4000 client calls in 2008. I volunteer at Daya on a regular basis. What amazes me is the supportive relationship that Daya cultivates with its clients. I once came across a Daya client that had got out of her abusive situation and had a new stable and happy life in another state. I received her call at Daya and after a brief chit chat she said that she was just helping her son with the school home work and had a quick question about the it. In her mind the quickest and most trustworthy source of ANY help is DAYA!
