Mission: The daughters of hawaii (the society) was granted a charter of incorporation by the governor of the territory of hawaii on april 17, 1915, for educational and eleemosynary purposes, including perpetuating the memory and spirit of old hawaii and its historical events and preserving the nomenclature and pronunciation of the hawaiian language. Programs: The society's mission of historic preservation is strongly accomplished, primarily through the operation of two historic house museums listed on the national and state historic registers. An estimated 40,000 visitors toured the museums of the society, participated in guest-lecture presentations, participated in cultural classes, utilized venue space and attended community events.
