Causes: Child Abuse Prevention, Crime & Law, Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse Prevention
Mission: Our mission is to empower people to prevent child sexual abuse. We believe protecting children is an adult responsibility and that education is critical for prevention efforts, as well as a catalyst for change. Our immediate focus is to make child sexual abuse prevention a national priority.
Results: -Over 1 million people trained -9,000 trainers across 18 countries -Recognized as a Top 5 Human Rights/Child Rights program in the world by the UN Foundation -Free prevention app called "SOCApp" available for download -National helpline 866-FOR-LIGHT
Target demographics: children, families, and communities prevent child sexual abuse
Direct beneficiaries per year: hundreds of thousands of teachers, parents, youth-organization workers and volunteers, learn to recognize the signs and prevent child sexual abuse
Geographic areas served: All 50 states and 17 additional countries
Programs: our award-winning Stewards of Children training program reduces the incidents of child sexual abuse by providing primary prevention programs for building national awareness, grassroots community movements, and the education of adults. Programs include large scale statewide prevention initiatives as well as local community projects.
