Mission: Dallas film society's mission is to celebrate films and their impact on society, to honor filmmakers and recognize their achievements and contribution in enhancing the creative community, to provide educational programs to develop better understanding of the role of film in today's world and to promote the city of dallas and its commitment to the art of filmmaking.
Programs: The dallas international film festival was held april 12-22, 2012 and presented over 175 films promoting the society's mission of recognizing and honoring film makers. Art of film was held november 18, 2011 and honored actor john lithgow. Lithgow was interviewed about his career by elvis mitchell. The screening room hosted by chris vogner (movie critic of the dallas morning news) was presented monthly from november 2011 to april 2012 and recognized accomplishments in the film noir style across several decades. The society also hosts countless member screenings and other series promoting film.
