Programs: March 5th, 2017 concert (charles w. Eisemann center 2351 performance dr. , richardson tx 75082)tenor william joyner headlined our march 5th concert at the charles w. Eisemann center in richardson. During the course of his career, joyner has thrilled and enchanted audiences throughout europe and north america with his powerful, sensitive, and detailed portrayals of some of opera's greatest leading roles. Particularly at home in the french repertoire of the 19th century, mr. Joyner is also noted for his performances of the operas of giacomo puccini. On march 5, he performed the following pieces with our symphony orchestra: "la fleur que tu m'avais (flower song from carmen)"georges bizet, "vainement, ma bien-aime" from le rio d'ys (in vain, my beloved from the king of ys) duoard lalo, "ah! Lve toi, soleil" (arise, o sun! From romeo and juliet) charles gounod. In addition all of our other orchestras also performed. (pieces included the karelia overture by jean sibelius, the transylvanian lullaby, mystic fawn and many others. )
may 13th, 2017 concert at st andrew united methodist church (5801 w plano pkwy, plano, tx 75093)student soloist adelle jia performed felix mendelsohn's violin concerto op. 64 in e minor, mvt. I :allegro molto appassionato with our symphony orchestra. Mendelssohn's violin concerto was his last large-scale orchestral work, which took 6 years to compose. Although standard in form, the concerto was innovative and included many novel features for its time. Distinctive aspects include the almost immediate entrance of the violin at the beginning. The concerto, well received in its premiere, is regarded as one of the greatest violin concertos of all time and has become a staple violin repertoire. Other featured pieces by our orchestras include: symphony no. 31 ("paris") by mozart, symphony no. 8 ("unfinished") by franz schubert, ""mmoire de la rvolution" by v ? ? Ng tn and many others.
november 18th, 2017 concert (custer rd. United methodist church - 6601 custer rd. Plano tx 75023) our fall 2017 concert at custer road united methodist church featured some of best young classical musicians in the north texas area perform. We have two different performances that day - matinee concert featuring our three strings groups: 2:30-3:30pm and the evening concert featuring our two full orchestras: 7:30-9:00pm. Some of the featured pieces included symphony no. 5 mvt. 4 (tchaikovsky), la forza del destino sinfonia (giuseppe verdi), danse macabre (camille saint-saens) and many others.
