The organization provides a great service to the community and families. But it also allows volunteers to learn new skills, be outside, and be part of a positive, supportive team.

I have spent the last 14 years building homes for families who would probably not be able to afford a home any other way. I help manage a large group of weekly volunteers, both organizationally and onsite. I also am responsible for the entire building process once or twice a year as a House Leader.
It was only a sidelight for me until I attended the first home dedication for a family I had come to know through the process of building their home. Seeing their joy when they receive the keys to their new home was all it took to make me a "lifer."

Dallas Habitat for Humanity is a leader in building affordable housing for qualified low income partners. In the past 2 years, DAHfH has become a leader in energy efficiency, gaining LEED certification in the process, while maintaining our goal of quality affordable housing.
We build with efficient energy usage in mind, reducing the costs for our family partners, while reducing the cost to the environment.
We also are achieving goals for a more environmentally sustainable supply chain.
