I first became aware of this organization in 2005. I had a Dachshund that I adored and loved that there were people out there activly doing all they could to make sure that no Dachshund went uncared for....or unloved. Through the years I followed Dare through their website and their Facebook page and even their great Ebay auctions...it was amazing to see the amount of dedication DARE showed to rehabilitate and rehome any dog that even resembled a Dachshund. In 2009 I decided to adopt one of the precious dogs in DARE's care. He has been the love of my life...and the inspiration to join DARE in their work. I have become a proud foster mom for DARE. Since I have started fostering for DARE I have realized how amazing this organization really is...and how hard they work to succeed in making sure that no Dachshund is left behind.

I adopted a bonded pair of senior doxies years ago with one of them being down in the back. I fell in love with this breed and slowly started fostering. I've taken in some doxies that were in pathetic condition due to people not taking care of their pets and have seen them rebirthed to what they should be and look like. The love they give back is inmeasurable. DARE has taken in the unlovely, forgotten and abused to turn them into wonderful companions for humans that will care for them as they should be. Made up of 100% volunteers, the dediction to this organization is unmatched and as DARE adopts out it's furbabies and takes in more, the family of DARE gets bigger as we get emails and pictures of former fosters and see them at events. This is a natural high for it's volunteers as DARE people see the fruits of their labor.

I have been affiliated with DARE for a few years now. They are a great organization that helps any Dachshund. Full bred, half dachshund, it doesn't matter. They take in dogs regardless of their situation. They may be sick, old, etc. They take them all and help give them a new life because they believe that every dachshund deserves to live a life where they can be happy and loved. They are also very active in local adoption events as being seen is part of getting the dogs to their furever homes. This is a great group of people with some of the kindest hearts. Please consider them as you plan your philanthropic donations. You will touch not only the lives of an organization and some wonderful dogs, but all of those families that have the experience of adopting these wonderful dachshunds!

I am a volunteer with another animal rescue group. We cross paths with DARE all the time plus I follow them on FB. They have a great organization and dedicated volunteers. They take in any and all dogs that have any doxie in them at all. They have numerous babies that have had extensive surgeries - which they pay for. Their dedication and real devotion to the breed - and animals in general - is quite wonderful. DARE is wonderful!!

I've adopted two dachshunds from DARE. It has been a privilege to meet and get to know these dedicated volunteers. They take in the old and disabled and give them peaceful, loving homes for the remainder of their days. They manage to find wonderful homes for so many of the fortunate dachshunds that manage to find their way to DARE. They are thorough and diligent in their efforts to make sure these little dogs are going to good homes. The dogs are given dentals, surgeries and anything else necessary to bring them good health and make them ready for their new homes. I've donated $ numerous times and I know it is used wisely and with a great deal of thought.
The DARE organization rescued a beagle/dachshund mix dog from a high kill shelter, got him to good health, then arranged for him to be brought all the way to Maryland for my family to adopt him. They are a wonderful network of caring and compassionate people dedicated to helping homeless furry children find their forever homes.

I have been affiliated with DARE since 2007 and a member since 2010. DARE's open acceptance policy of taking in Dachshund and Dachshund Mix's who have been abandoned, abused or rescued from kill shelters amazes me. DARE has such a caring dedicated group of volunteers and members. Their attitude says it all....IT'S ABOUT THE DOGS! Whatever it takes, however much blood, sweat and tears goes into it - the supporters of DARE will make sure that the quality of life for their fosters is full of love, compassion and quality vet care. DARE screens all potential adoptive homes & does a thorough background check to make sure that the dog and the owner are a good match and even offers to accept the DARE dog back should the new owner ever need to surrender the dog due to life changes. The group of DARE supporters truly believe in what they are doing.

DARE is an excellent organization. Unlike other dachshund rescue groups - they take in any dog that is "part" dachshund. They take in dogs that are extremely sick, need back surgery or other surgery or have any handicap. There goal is to save them and find them good furever homes. Unless their foster homes are full, they never turn a dog away. I personally have adopted 4 dogs from them and I follow them on facebook and their website. This is a wonderful caring group of people and they operate 100% on donations. They work with vets who are willing to discount services - but even with discounts their vet expenses can be quite high.
